Two buddhist monks who had taken a vow to never touch a woman (poor things) were walking back to their monastery after being away on some travels. They came to a river they had to cross and there was a lady there dressed in her wedding apparel, she told the monks the bridge had broken but she needed to cross this river to get to the wedding, she said she didnt know what to do as she didnt want to wreck her wedding dress having to wade through the river. To the shock and disdain of one of the monks the other picked her up and tossed her over his shoulder and carried her across the river. He set her on dry land on the other side and she went on her way to attend her wedding so grateful her dress wasnt ruined. The monks continued on the way to the monastery, one monk bickering at the other, chastising him for breaking his vow saying all kinds of horrible things to him being really judgemental and everything. When they approached the monastery gates he finally said " I'm gonna have to tell the Master about this, you hve broken your solem vow never to touch a woman!!". The other monk finally spoke and said " I left the woman at the river, why are you still carrying her?" Thanks for sharing your parable LotusSong, I love little learning stories
