I hope some of you can help me. My question is...how does someone get enough excerise when their job(mine) requires them to sit at a computer 10 to 11 hours a day. I am trying so hard to lose weight, but sitting all day doesnt help.  And when I get home in the evenings, I am so tired, and Yes, sitting all day makes me tired.

I am watching what foods I eat, and drinking lots of water...but what else can I do.  And please be serious when you answer, I am so serious about this.  I really need help!!!

During lunch, go for a walk.
When going to the restroom, walk to the farthest restroom in the builiding if there is more than one.  I walk to the one upstairs.
I also go to the upstairs breakroom.
Get up and exercise for a few minutes in the morning.

It isn't much but it is better than nothing.

Do you live within walking distance of your job or the store?

Ideally you should get daily exercise, but if that isn't possible, exercising 3 to 4 times a week for 2o to 25 minutes at a time will boost your metabolism. Fast pace walking is one of the best forms of exercise for this, which helps build bone density and also lower blood pressure and reduce breast cancer risks... really terrific stuff! Also, try parking far away from wherever you go.

Two of these days you can do on weekends if you get them off, the other two you could get up 25 minutes earlier for work? Combine walking with light yoga is just invigorating for the rest of the day!

What is isometric exercise

Basically it is using your own muscles to oppose other muscles. Tensing any muscle group helps also - tense, hold a few seseconds, release, repeat. Have heard that pulling in and up with your abdominals and holding for five seconds is approximately equivalent to one sit up. Kegals work also. Sitting on the very edge of your chair, back straight, uses more energy than sitting back relaxed. Take walks for your breaks. Bring a quick, easy lunch and walk for the rest of your lunch period. Park in the very back of the parking lot for a longer walk to and from your car. Good luck. :)

Edited to add - you might want to look into ankle and/or wrist weights for more resistance when you do get to walk a few minutes. Also, don't ask people for things, go get them instead. Don't use the office intercom system if you don't have to, go find the person. Any excuse to move around a few minutes...you may have to work a little faster/harder when you are sitting there to make up for time spent wandering though. lol

No, I don't live within walking distance of my job.  But, when I go to the mall, I always park far away.  I do what I can, but it doesnt seem to be helping....I am so depressed about not losing weight....thank you for your suggestions, I'm going to do all of them...

Don't be depressed...ok, try not to be depressed. Love yourself, no matter your size...remember, health and beauty is NOT a number on a scale. Trying and not seeing results is so tough...

Have heard that, in the beginning of any weight loss endeavor, it is normal to do a lot without seeing results on the scale, especially if you are weight training. Building muscle even adds weight sometimes, even if you have reduced fat. Have also heard that weight training is good - light, nothing too strenuous, the goal being to add muscle, which burns more fuel than fat. Also adds tone, which makes you look better faster. You can get small hand weights at any department store for that.

And you are so NOT alone in trying and not seeing results!. :)

Squats while taking a shower works too...just don't ask about how THAT one came to light. lmao

Try Smart Burn, or any OTM that has Hoodia. You're also going to have to exercise. Those of us who are over ... uhhhhhhhhhh ... a certain age ... have the added cruelty of our metabolisms tapering off. Exercise, eating five small meals a day and drinking plenty of water is the only way to do it. I'm sorry. I hate the answer as much as you do.

Unfortunately, those supplements don't always work for people...and sometimes they are proven harmful at a later date. Be careful of what you try.

For the non-traditional exercise - can lone you a huge headstrong dog to walk several times a day. Lots of exercise there! lol Or, if you have those nasty biting ants around, just step in a hill barefoot for just a second - lots of movement will follow as you try to rid your feet and legs of those nasty little critters...

It can be tough, cuddles, for sure.

Keep a journal of EVERYTHING you eat; this helps you see when and where you might be cheating or just not eating what you need to.

Cut out simple sugars and fatty foods.

Do NOT skip any meals. Ever.

Don't eat until you are genuinely hungry. Eat slow so you can tell when you're full; then stop.

Buy a bike or treadmill for your house and USE IT every day. Build up to 30-45 minutes a day.

Buy some handweights and do simple exercises for your body.

If you do these things, you almost certainly will lose weight, but I'd tell you to worry about the numbers less and look at your body, and how you feel. As you stick to this DAILY routine, you will get a hell of a lot more energy.

Hey Cuddle:

The key is to just move more and eat healthy.  Walk the stairs when you can.  It ALWAYS makes me feel better when I get a hike in first thing in the morning.  My back doesn't ache and I have more energy.  No need to start too fast, just make it a routine.  Having a dog helps a lot.  My dog was on death's door when I began walking him and it really improved his health and attitude (as well as mine.)
I also suggest watching your portions.  It is very easy to continue to eat when you're full.
Good luck to you.

If you have trouble determining when you are truly hungry or want to be sure, try drinking a glass of water when you feel hungry. if the 'hungry feeling' goes away and doesn't come back in a few minutes, you probably aren't relly hungry. Also, drink plenty of water with your meal to help feel full - that really helps if you tend to overeat at a sitting. Just don't take it to the point of skipping a meal, as was mentioned. If you aren't hungry and think you may not be before the next mealtime, eat a little something anyway.

Have tried that route, didn't work. That's not to say that it won't for you though. This is something that absolutely must begin with you. You need to find the motivation and the means that work for you personally.

To show how odd a place that motivation can come from - Mother used to say 'You're so fat. Why don't you lose weight' all the time. She was overweight and not losing either, so there was no obvious reason for her to be saying that. One day she said it one time too many - she refused to move from between the table and fridge so it could get by and started the whole spiel again...and it decided to show her what was up. Started to ignore everything she ever said about what to eat and when, remember having chocolate cake for breakfast even. Started taking the Samoyed walking - would wander with him for as long as possible, no strenuous walking, just wandering along hedgerows. Lost some 30 pounds and got the cold shoulder from the mother.after going shopping with her and buying, and easily fitting into, a size 5 jeans. Felt absolutely wonderful to be in those jeans...it tries to hold onto that feeling when the whole weight loss thing gets boring and tedious or seems to not be working.

Try to find that inspiration somewhere...it is there, just waiting for you to find it.

Sweet Cuddles...
My job is very active and i still have to worry about diet and exercise . Try to avoid  processed foods,  eat lots of watery fruits... fresh veggies....water....bananas are good too actually even though they are not juicy  .   Some veggies like broccoli and celery burn more calories to digest than you actually ingest when you eat them.

In regard to exercise...you've  gotten some great suggestions....just experiment and see what works best for you.
