Hi Lady Ellen, I understand fundamentalists because I was once one myself, and believed that others knew God's will better than I did. I turned off my reason, because it conflicted with what I believed. I don't know what I could have been convinced to do in the name of God. On the other hand, I have little regard for atheists who follow Ayn Rand and/or Nietzsche. I have little regard for atheists who admire Bill Gates and Donald Trump. I am committed to the teachings of Jesus. I just don't believe he was God, nor do I believe in the existence of any God. I love for people to ask me how I think the universe got here, because I have a very good answer. I really believe the world needs a new religion. One that just worships loving-kindness, compassion, understanding, forgiveness, patience, sharing, altruism and empathy, and one that condemns creulty, selfishness, self-centeredness, physical intimidation, mean-spirited conduct and abuse. Sadly, most humanists are just armchair philosophers who get together and talk about how superior they are for believing God does not exist, and how is is great to help other and better the world. Yet, few humanists, if any, have a serious commitment to help their fellow man. They may do a little pro bono work, and volunteer to act as a guardian ad litem, but they essentially live selfish lives. Warmest regards, Michael
