ORIGINAL: Dauric The real story here isn't about the little girl, it's about the way the media and the police handled the stuation, crucifying the family on an international stage. The only place in the world that they weren't known of as child murderers must have been a small village in the sub-saharan outback. I agree quote:
Another story of importance here is how the Ramseys tarted up a young girl and paraded her around in front of strangers. There's evidence of pedophelia in the crime, are we really that suprised? I am surprised that you would think that her parents tartng her up was the reason she was murdered. You do not know that. I do not agree with "tarting up" little girls either, but pedophiles usually like their targets to look like children, not dressed up to look like little adults from what I know. Also, saying this is like saying that a woman asks to be raped because she wore something, rape, molestation, and violence are crimes of power with only sexual components, sex is not the prime motivation. This little girl being dressed this way did not make her murderer overcome with desire to kill her or molest her by what she wore.. quote:
It's also a reflection of the way that we, as a society, overscheduele children and don't give them enough time to simply 'Play' as children and work their imaginations. Forcing them to "grow up", getting business-style day-planners for each child and filling them completely. She looked like a happy little gal to me, very joyful little thing. She enjoyed pagentry. I do agree that people overschedule children, and pagents seem more about parents living through their children. I do not like them, never have. But she was using her imagination the way little girls do. They play dressup, wear mommy's makeup, and play with barbies pretending they are adults. Childhood is a playground preparing us for adulthood. This is why most children's pretend time revolves around grownup activities. quote:
What is not a news story is the murder of a small child, not even one in an upscale part of Boulder. It's sad that it happened, sure, but it's sad that it happens anywhere. agree with this too
