He's not my brother; as far as I can tell, he's still very likely to be a child-preying freak.

Of course I was being facecious.  But I've seen similar situation in the D./s community where .. well.. "we just can't judge anyone..we need to walk in their shoes.. he may have been traumatized.."

I'm just stating something outrageous so those that do that song and dance frequently can see just how STUPID it is NOT to use judgment... and I'm still in a mood anyway

I figured you weren't serious *smiles*; I agree with you on using judgement too.

It's called off-topic, it is allowed.

Yeah, they dropped the charges against him, but now he's being shipped off to California to face some old child-pornography charges that he's been avoiding since 2001.  So this guy's not exactly a saint, either.

He admitted to kissing little girls on the lips.  He's creepy all-around.

I was living in the Denver area when this happened, and lived there up until about a year ago.

The media frenzy was and is disgusting.

I never believed the Karr confession from the moment I heard it.  I am surprised however that the Boulder DA did not go ahead with the case just to get it closed.

I have believed since day 1 that the family was involved.  There is too much evidence that points their direction.  As for the 'documentary' that supposedly acquitted the Ramseys... follow the money.  Now with Patsy having died of cancer, we'll never know for sure (My opinion is that she did it).  One of the most interesting pieces of evidence is the snowfall in Boulder the night/morning she was found.  IF someone came into the house and commited this horrible crime, what happened to the footprints in the snow?  There weren't any!

I'll stop there <chuckles>  Don't want to get into trouble with the Mods or get into any flame wars.

I agree with you that it was in the family. I lived in Atlanta when this happened and it was covered there just as fanatically as in Boulder. Living down the street from them when they moved back to GA it was a circus for months to just get in and out of the driveway or go to school or to the store without being stopped and interrogated by the media on a daily basis.

I was stunned when they had a warrant for this Karr freak but as soon as he said he picked her up from school and had drugged her (there was no school and there were no drugs in her system) I knew it was a 15 minutes of fame thing. At least he's out of the education system and will face his charges in CA now.

So while I agree with you it was within the Ramsey family I've always thought it was the son (Burke). I wouldnt put it past the parents to protect him after what happened to JonBenet. One tragedy rather than two. I just don't think they ever imagine what a phenomenal circus this would turn into.

Much like Scott Peterson never expecting it to become a national story. From the beginning I thought it could be him but watching the Gomez interview live and watching him walk off set to shut down his ringing phone to continue the interview ( uhhhh your wife is missing maybe that was her calling to say she was lost or hurt idiot) right then I knew he did it. He didn't answer that phone because he knew it wasnt Laci calling. She couldnt.

Hello A/all,

I know very little about the case.  The Ramseys were tried by the media long before law enforcement gave them their day in court.  I have kids.  There is nothing which will restore their lives to what it was prior to their daughter being taken from them.  I can only hope that they get some small solace from the outcome of this man being extradited back to Colorado.

What puzzles me about this case is why the man asked for extradition back to the United States from Cambodia.  I do not personally buy the whole "my consience got the better of me" reason.  From what I have read about them, child abusers generally lack a sense of consience about what they do.  From my understanding of child abuse laws in Cambodia, the penalty for a person convicted of the crime of abusing children is death.

What is also known about serial abusers (as opposed to creepy uncle joe) is that there is no reform or rehabilitation possible for them, outside of castration.

Call me cynical, but I suspect that IF this person is a child molestor, that they were captured in that country for a crime they would ultimately pay the ultimate penalty for committing, and are using the media and US law enforcement to protect themself from being put to death.

Just me, could be wrong, etc.

Sinergy

The latest news is the man is innocent, the DA said his DNA is NOT a match. I've lived in Asian countries before, and I suspect the reason he wanted to get back to the US is, he pulled the same thing there and trust me, they DO execute you for it, so fear did indeed get the best of him.  People seem to "assume" that our laws are the best, trust me, what happens in Asian countries when you are found guilty of a crime, well, thats real law working.
I just read the entire story on msn.com, and he lied, he lied to protect his own skin.
Even the mans family said he was lying, he was NOT in Boulder during the Christmas holidays, he was with his family. Now think about it, what better way to force the US to bring you back then to say you comitted a high profile murder. Of course they brought him back, if he admitted to it, and they did nothing, and the media got wind of it.. all hell would have broken loose.
I have children as well, and as sad as it sounds I do firmly believe the parents DID have something to do with their own daughters death, more so the mother. Why a woman would think to harm her own child, well she took that to her grave, but I do feel she did have plenty to do with it. The way she was found, the care in covering her face like it was, that was an act of guilt, and a form of sick demented love.
But this is just my opinion

Oh, yes, Asian countries have a MUCH better legal system than we do.  Due process?  Procedural law?  Hooey...

I suspected the thing was a wash when I heard how the guy who had written a book on the case, had been conversing with Karr for years. The Karr guy seemed so messed up in general that he would have morphed into being involved with a little/lot of encouragement.
I bet the author is pissed that it fizzled so fast. How can he wring another book out of it?
