Blame Futurama, they put it in my head.

Discuss.

There was a thread about time travel not too long ago.  A real scientist started to explain some of the minutiae involved in getting to the bottom of time travel, and other people, who didn't understand what the fuck he was talking about, told him to lighten up and stop intimidating the locals.

Search, if you're really interested; you'll find it.

ok, I guess I should have known it had been discussed before. [sm=tongue.gif]

captive you would love discussion with my children.  They so have theories.
Parallel universes, time travel and the list goes on.  They feed on these types of discussion, its amazing to watch them interact.

We need to all meet when I get settled over your way.  You and my daughter could be pretty good friends I bet. Your the same age and she is submissive.

Chaingang -> RE: It is impossible to travel through time because time does not exist. (8/22/2006 12:22:41 AM)

It can be travelled because time is a function or characteristic of space (or distance). It gets sloppy because we sometimes call it time-space.

Bluebird -> RE: It is impossible to travel through time because time does not exist. (8/22/2006 12:28:19 AM)

Did anyone ever read (as a youth) the novel "A Wrinkle in Time"? That book always stuck with me - a very simple and logical (to a 10-yr old) explanation of the space-time continuum.  Probably out of print now, but may be in your local library.

Anytime, I look forward to it, Savage. [:)]

Ok since this was discussed I'm changing the topic.

New Topic:

Jesus is not really the son of God.  God and Mary's virgin birth was how we perceived aliens visiting earth and impregnating Mary with their Alien/Human super-powered hybrid science experiment.

sub-discussion:

Theses "Aliens" are really just our super-evolved versions from the distant future travelling back in time and fucking around.

The US Navy sure didn't think so. The Philadelphia Experiment had everything to do with teleportation / time travel. It's my bet they're still working on this.

mons -> RE: It is impossible to travel through time because time does not exist. (8/22/2006 1:17:02 AM)

greeting to all

i am a twin when my twin move to ca we had a exchange of places for moments . i do believe in time travel and it does exist but it does move faster then the eyes can see but it is time.

now when my twin and i both saw and i had never been here but i saw where she live and i was here i came sometime later and told her of what had happen and she told me she was back where i lived , she has had my labor when i had my son. we think the same but she is not domiant and one thing we both can never speak of is sex we are to close in both our mind we do see and not feel bu it is wierd so yes time travel and thoughts are real and can be all over everywhere.

we both have experince strange things once whne for years we always drove through this one street we both said at the same time no let go this way, as we went the moment we would had been at this part of th road a car roll off of the hill and would had landed on us and i am sure as heavy as that car was we would not be here.

so never let you mind just be open to only one thing open it to other and more

I think I found a hole in your logic.  If time does not exist, then how can we be wasting it here?

Almost correct.  I have four Hispanic neighbors named Jesus and they can't all be the son of God.  That part is correct.

However, according to my sources, the son of God was named Brian.  Some Brits made a documentary out of it.

Interesting, mons.

As for time travel: I do not exclude it. There is this - in my eyes convincing - rock illustration of indians killing a huge stegosaurus. Did they travel in time? Did it travel in time? Was there a colony of stegosauri that survived in that part of South America for 65 million years? Are there other explanations? Is it a forgery?

As for space-time: that is nuts. The dimension of time is nothing like the dimension of space.

If you really want to understand the universe and/or time travel then watch these video clips.  It was a one-hour show on PBS.

I think this should be debated on the Jerry Springer Show!

You mean you have never heard of the Tardis?

Time And Relative Dimensions In Space?

I'll give you a hint;

Who does not love the Doctor?

I just pulled up that thread and read the post from the person you are referring to.. and all I can add is.. There are times where intelligence must be a verrrry lonely place :)

Pffft! Anyone can travel in time. All you need is a Delorean moving at 88 mph, a plutoniun powered nuclear reactor capable of generating 1.21 gigawats of electricity, and a flux capacitor.
