Status: offline 		FWIW (and I know that not much, especially since I've rarely been here lately) I've always enjoyed Stef's posts - the sarcasm, the biting wit, the ability to cut through the bullshit and get to the point while making me grin. I certainly hope she doesn't "crawl back into a hole" as was suggested, or I'd have to go dig her out. That would be HELL on my nails!

I pretty much felt the same way when I read the initial question. How difficult is it to enter a word into google and then ask questions about it if you want more information?

For the record i am 145 lbs, and am told i am attractive, and have a Dom in my life, but i still don't see any reason to have responded that way. i tell people all the time that this site is a good source of information, and to get so many negative resonses, well, i'm glad i didn't ask the question....
And btw, if you are wonding how the responses could have been said, yet still gotten the point across ~ how about "Shibari is Japanese rope bondage. A google search could have gotten you this information a little quicker"

There's never any benefit from rewarding the lazy. If you want to reinforce poor behavior, that's entirely your right, but please don't expect that others will share your opinion on the matter.

Betwee, the Boston, Goergia, and New York big three man haters, i guess the only question is, do they all sleep together, or does catwoman just play when her husband gives her permission. I did not look at your posting history. All i was seeing was that someone very innocently was asking for help. I have found on this site that people are ususlly very helpful, and i tell others about this site all the time.
THEN, it felt like you came after me. What did you think i would do, I a sub, not a doormat. Beleive me, i can be as bitchy as the next "guy".
i have always apprecated the responses i got, and i honestly thought "i'm glad i didn't ask that". i will think twice before i ask a question on this site from now on. And i have one i want to post, but i think i'll go somewhere else...no one needs to feel stupid for asking a simple question, especially one that obviolsy many people here knew. maybe she could have gone someplace else, but she knew enough to come here She came to the right place, she just got slammed, and i felt bad for her....

Perhaps you and Stef just got off on a bad note. She isn't a jerk either. If you had a question. . .she would most likely be one of *the most helpful* people in directing you toward a very useful resource. A lot of posters agreed that just coming on the boards to ask a simple definition that would have taked 3 seconds to google is a bit lazy. It would have been a totally different ballgame if the original poster asked "I'm interested in shibari. . .what are some good books to learn technique?" or "I have a physical disability but am really interested in shibari. What is the best way to go about practicing this without exacerbating my condition?"
The latter questions show that the person is *actually* interested enough in the topic that they did some of their on initial ferreting of information. . .but still wanted the expertise of someone more versed in it.
It would be like me going to a philosophy message board ans asking the question: "What is existentialism?" There are plenty of articles and tutorials out there for those that don't know what it is and want to know. I'm sure if I *did* ask that question. . .I'd get some really "short and curt" answers. . .like "Go look it up on google." But if I said: "I read Heidegger's Being and Time but I do not see any existentialism in his writing. . .can someone please point out what I'm not seeing?" I'm sure that would be better received.

And by the way:

Status: offline 		It is much faster to ask an expert for a reference than to wade through 1000 google sites on a subject you know nothing about. It takes a little bit of knowledge to figure out where to go for more knowledge. No one was under obligation to even look at the thread if they didn't want to, so if the original poster wasted your time it was your decision to waste it not theirs. New here, rather surprised to see someone flamed for an innocent question.

As an example of what I am talking about, the sites posted by Destinyskeins included some of the best I have ever seen on rope bondage, and I have done google searchs for bondage info before. They were probably tucked away on page 17 of my google search or something.
