It appears to be a word you're too lazy to look up.

LOL, it's Japanese rope bandage - but Sfgrrl is right - look it up and educate yourself!

sub4hire -> RE: What is Shibari (1/7/2005 6:03:48 AM)

Shibari is japanese rope bondage. Very intricate. Very few people out there know how to do it properly.
50 feet minimum for a rope bra.

Sorry Step but when looking at good bondage...well I get excited. Just had to say what it was.

The best thing since sliced bread? Wait, no....that would have come before sliced bread! Anywho, as others have noted it is a form of Japanese rope bondage. However, contrary to popular belief, it's not difficult to learn and involves a surprisingly small amount of knotwork.

Here's a few links, as the previous posters have mentioned more information can be found by using Google.

CRAM - Chicago Rope & Mummification club Links to the club and various other Shibari sites

Shibari Tutorials Some truly great tutorials

Shibaricon - Shibari Conference/Expo held in Chicago Second Annual Conference showcasing Shibari - also coincides with the International Leatherman

Why do for yourself when others are more than happy to do your work for you?

Granted yes, this is information one can look up themselves but perhaps they were on the forum when the question came up and popped the question on the spur of the moment. Or perhaps this person doesn't cope well with the overload and variety of information generally received through a search for Google and hoped to search through links that have something of a stamp of approval from others more familiar with Shibari?

Anywho, speaking for myself, i've no problem having an excuse to reread some of my favorite links and speak about one of my favorite topics! [:)]

Im am by no means trying to say Im an expert, but I do have a lot of experience in this. I have never seen it stated anywhere in any literature Ive read, or even from others for that matter, that states 50' minimum for a rope bra. Where did you get this info from? Just curious.

knees2you -> RE: What is Shibari (1/10/2005 6:45:40 PM)

Sfgrrl,
I'm not Illiterate, and did some research,
But wanted to get some people's opinons~[:)]

But thank You for Sarcasticly telling me that~[:D]

M.Tyson-

I actually just checked my lines, and I think that about thirty feet will do a semi elaborate (but not really intricate)chest harness (I don't think we could say 'bra' if it has no cups<g>). I think that Gloria was just tossing out a number to use as an example.

While I was not trained by secret ancient ascended oriental masters, I do belong to the international guild of knot tyers, have a registered knot that I discovered, and have been doing yacht rigging for about twenty years. I do a pretty good tie.

Stay warm,
Lawrence

Flame from poster removed.

I'm sorry, but it seems that you are mistaken. I never said anything at all to gentlesubmissive. Thank you for feeling so strongly about your beliefs to make me the topic of your first post here, but in the future, you might want to keep your own "critisizm" to yourself until you actually know what you're talking about.

Welcome to Collarme!

Go back and read the posts a "A question for Dommes". Apparently someone is usung your ID.

I did re-read that thread. The only post I made in that thread was a reply to "MrCofNewport". Are you sure you have your facts straight?

Thanks Lawrence!!! It seemed she was stating a fact with the use of the word minimum, that's why I asked where she got that from. But she could be using it as an example as you said, hard to tell how someone means things sometimes online.

By the way, I saw in another post your a Marine also...Sempre Fi Brother!!!

ProtagonistLily -> RE: What is Shibari (1/11/2005 5:47:57 PM)

Yawn....sounds like a cat fight to me....

Mytime, if you don't have something constructive to say, why not take your own advice and cut the sarcasm and criticism.

And if you are thinking about some long, drawn out excuse for your behavior, spare me.

Pots and kettles bore me unlike whips and chains excite me....

Lily
