Status: offline 		I feel 'we' must be careful not to offend. The image of our community should be positive to offset the oftentimes adverse things we see in the media. That said, when I first see my Mistress after a period of two hours or more, I am required to greet her on bended knee. She will either offer her hand to kiss, or will point to her foot. She is discreet and respectful of others, but I have had to kiss her shoe in public, and I do so with genuine respect to her, not a simple, quick peck. The hand-kiss often brings positive comments from others; the foot-kiss, rarely, but she has had two comments from other women, and has noticed many who have smiled at her in admiration.

Status: offline 		For me personally, I live in mortal fear of public humiliation; I would hate it. My wife knows this, and has on occasion threatened it, but never deliberately forced anything. We live near a large wooded area that is well known for gay cruising: she has sometimes threatened to tie me naked to a tree and leave me there overnight. But I know that she doesn't really have any interest in forced gay acts, so I think she wouldn't actually go through with it (although I don't really want to try and test her on it LOL). She did once grab my balls and squeeze hard when we were in a department store, when she was annoyed over something. But I don't know if anyone noticed; it was a busy store, people were doing their own thing etc. But other than that one incident, she's never shown any interest in anything like that. (Fortunately for me!) Of course, if seeing me publicly humiliated actually turned her on, then I'd probably be in real trouble!

But generally speaking, just the threat of public humiliation is enough to force my compliance. And for Dom/mes generally, I think it's more entertainment than erotic.

I personally think the "make the sub buy panties" concept of publicly humiliating him is vastly overrated. Because I have worn women's panties for years, almost all in soft shades of oink, I have enough experience buying them to be calm, relaxed and natural. However, I subtly leave no doubt they are for my use.

As a clerk once explained, if the man acts normal, he will be accepted and treated as normal. The man who obviously fakes being normal will be treated as a creep. Neither response is the desired that will cause humiliation.

Only occasionally will I be subjected to some indication of disapproval. The majority of clerks honestly couldn't care one way or the other. But a few will respond positively, with open acceptance, smiles, knowing looks and signs of encouragement.
I relish this type of response, but don't find it to be humiliating.

Whatever the response, buying panties is not humiliating for me. Perhaps I am weird?

Status: offline 		Tuscon perhaps you are just seasoned ;)  I remember a time I was asked if I could assist with a wee shopping trip .. we went to a large department store and the first clerk freaked when I made it obvious the lingerie was not for me ... and hurried away to busy herself with folding t-shirts... while another clerk, a woman in her 50's smiled knowningly and came to our assistance ...she was just fantastic and I made a point of visiting the store a day or two later to thank her... together we co-ordinated colours, suggested more padding in the bra, considered the merits of a g-string vs nana pants on his frame, holding up various articles against his frame and discussed how this royal blue number would bring out the colour of his eyes ... she even negotiated with the menswear department for him to use the dressing rooms to try on a few pieces and together we preened and pimped him, oohing and ahhing when something looked just darling on him ... he was completely beside himself and loved every minute of our girlie day out ...

1.  Local context is everything.  I might put my girl into an outfit for an evening out and be seen as a bit risque in NYC, par for the course in Vegas, prudish in Rio (during Carnival), and get arrested in Milwaukee.  By and large, I don't like inflicting my kink on others nonconsensually, and I dislike being the nonconsensual recipient of someone else's jollies.  That said, if you are in a public D/s club, or an adult venue, I think you've pretty much consented. 

2.  WalMart?  Surely not, MisPandora.  You strike me as a much classier woman than WalMart, and politically we know that CostCo is blue, WalMart is red. 

3.  Dinner at Vetri is among the best 3 meals I've ever eaten (and I've eaten alot, and some of the best).  I'd be much too focused on the butternut squash gnocci with sage butter to even notice the goings on at the next table.  AND doing anything other than eating and enjoying in that space is a sacrilige.

Status: offline 		ive also been on shopping trips but alone and with out a note wrtten by a Mistress and i agreee with tucson unless you look and feel out of place or show fear you are just a guy or a custmer buying itmes a store  sells ...not sure if tucson has these feelings but it is exciting and the rush that gose thur your head wondering if the clerk knows your buying for yours self ..but only once or twice have i been told and asked wow nice pick of panties n bras

My dress style and general demeanor subtly make clear to store clerks that the panties (almost all pink) I am buying are for my use.
 
I do enjoy the positive responses I get, and am happy conveying that I am neither ashamed nor embarrassed to acknowledge that I wear (pink) panties.
 
I also enjoy doing my small part in (hopefully) establishing a growing awareness, acceptance and perhaps eventually a trend to the idea that being a "soft" man" is acceptable in our macho-dominated society.

Status: offline 		Public humiliation being, of course different for everybody.  Once had an online sub petrified because I told her to go shopping without panties even though her skirt was below knee length!!!!  Of course she did it and needless to say loved it.

But it is all in the eye of the people involved.  Having a sub sitting next to / opposite Me with My wireless remote controlled vib on / in them and knowing what it's doing to them (LOVE the change of breathing involved, especially when close) as well as knowing I could push them over the edge if I so desired is so much more of a turn on for Me than having them naked in a crowded room.

Status: offline 		Not wearing panties isn't humilating to me. I freuqently and of my own choice go out with out bra's or panties on if I am making a quick trip out and or can't be bothered to find them an put them on.

However I find I need undies other wise I sweat and chafe horribly between the legs,a nd now having to dig at and pat my crotch and thighs dry all the time IS embarrasing. for me and for whoever I am with.
