You are right... men do not evolve like women do. We are hopeless.
 
But - and, please do understand where I am coming from....
 
If "men won't change" - how does "empowering the next generation of women" solve anything at all?
 
And, I do find it unique to find a sexist and chauvanistic  viewpoint stated with such verve.

Status: offline 		I got an email the other day "Are you sure you weigh 170, that is not possible from your pics" I weigh 169 in my pics, so I rounded up. I found it slightly offensive that this stranger would think that he could weigh me with his eyes and make it seem like my weight is some sorta heffer kind of BBW weight and if I was a BBW who cares? It is allowed after all. I am a BIG girl. I have muscles and stuff going on, I actually weigh something, so sue me... and my Daddy seemingly likes me as is. And he is not in anyway a hillbilly uneducated or ugly sort, although I have seen him a litttle unkempt a few times. (who isn't occasionally?)

BTW Puella, nice attempt for a train wreck thread, we need one seeing it is Saturday..winks

Put 'Peter Paul Rubens' into Google and hit image search. 

Beauty, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder...

...but I would go so far as to add that if a woman thinks she is beautiful, she can be - and the opposite applies too.

Amen jess! It seems like the more overweight the nation becomes, the more they bury their heads in the sand, blaming the concept of beauty on glamor magazines and hollywood. All this doesn't solve the problem of their being overweight though. Fat is no more beautiful than stupid is intelligent. There are glandular problems that can cause obesity, but all too often people blame their obesity on hypothyroidism when they have nothing wrong with their thyroid gland.
 
Fact is that it is easier to pick up fast food than to cook. It is more comfortable to sit in front of the television or computer screen than it is to take a walk or ride a bike. But these things are inherently unhealthy, especially to the degree we take it. The only blame that should be laid on people that criticise obesity is a lack of tact.

Status: offline 		just my 3 cents and i'm new here so  i'm putting on the fireproof clothes now
My weight is a problem it's a health issue, i mean i can't do stuff i used to do i'm tall and big boned so i can carry it, but believe me i know i'm carrying it. to be honest there are certain things i would like to try that i don't know i have the endurance for (and forget hang gliding)
Now i can look good,  real good   when i was younger and thinner too much attention made me nervous . That's most likely my issue.so there's an answer. I do need motivatiuon to do things, so delicately  put kindly meant prodding to go to the gym is not taken as an insult with regards to dietary advice , sigh  few culinary skills or inclination and veggies
On the other hand everyone has their reasons motivations and issues
I mean come on it's not like heavy people look in the mirror one day and say WTF!!!!
on the other hand, a little cushion is a good thing lol (for me at least)
The Doms i've played with knew what i looked like before we met, i'm the one that looks at the pics and screams
so it's a work in progress,
Conversely, kinda hard to be topped by someone i could squash like a bug....

my thought comes from this. you can not change people, you can only change yourselves. most of the time, people will only change when you want to. until we see this change in society in general where we view normal women as attractive, i don't think the men that the OP was talking about are going to wakeup and realize that their wrong. for example, whenever someone in a natural/organic forum i am apart of asks how to change their family to eat more healthy the first statement is to keep being you and continue in your change. the more they see you, the curious they might become and ask you about things which can change their perspective. but if you try to feed your family good things, constantly talk about what they are eating is bad to them, and show them facts they don't want to hear, most of the time their turned off. this is where i get my statements from.

Status: offline 		Assuming you are speaking of Dom men and sub women, in our society in general men are attracted to women for reasons that are different than the reasons that women are attracted to men. I think this is something rooted in our reptilian brain that can not and should not be changed as it is what has helped us to progress to where we are now. It's not nice to fool mother nature.

Ummm, not exactly...there can be many, many reasons why someone is larger than the super-thin figure that is being presented as the "ideal" of health and beauty nowadays that have nothing whatsoever to do with a person's eating habits.  An auto accident injury which impairs one's mobility, medications which cause the metabolism to go into "pack it on" mode, and the infamous hypothyroidism to name just a few.  In fact, some researchers are questioning (because of the pattern by which the so-called "obesity epidemic" has spread throughout the world) whether there might actually be a virus or some such at work after all.

One thing that skinnies and the people who think we should all be skinnies rarely acknowledge is that those who are underweight have just as many health problems as the truly obese do, and the same shortened life expectancy as a result.  Those studies that we read about, which supposedly prove that thin=healthy?  They actually show that the populations considered *overweight* - not the ultra-thin, not the "normal", and not the obese - have the best health & life expectancy.  And yet the image that is presented by the media in general as "ideal", in terms of both health and beauty, is actually *underweight* and just as unhealthy as morbidly obese.  Just look at the furor in the fashion world over Madrid's recent banning of models with a BMI under 18.

Are a lot of male doms fixated on insisting that their subs lose weight?  I dunno, but I know that a male dom whose only interest seemed to be starving *me* into being skinny was the catalyst for my discovery of my own dominant tendencies.  Ironically, he told me before we got involved that my weight wasn't an issue, but apparantly what he meant was it wasn't an issue so long as I was willing to follow a seriously dangerous starvation diet and not do much of anything else to serve him until I whittled down to half my size.  I guess I should be grateful in a way...after all, I'm a bigger woman now thanks to his teachings.  :-p

But, this is not foisted on women strictly by men...
 
Read up on this - it is a sociological and psychological issue involving both genders (not to mention the fashion industry, the weight loss industry, the AMA, and the CDC...)
 
Besides which - slamming 'men' (in general) about an issue which you decry is not going to change it.
 
We all have preferences... and, if I (as an example) prefer red heads - complaining about that is not going to change how I (personally) feel... and, it only serves to irritate me in the process.
 
"Rage against the night" if you care... but, leave me and my gender out of it.
 
(We are very sensitive and cry easily)

Status: offline 		I agree on all of us having preferences. All of us, male and female.... and there is nothing on earth wrong with that. In fact, there is nothing wrong with a dominant (male or female) telling their submissive to get in shape or lose weight, certainly if it's done in a healthy way. Of course, this does not need to be done hatefully.

Status: offline 		Puella, I shower everyday, I go down to the beach a few times per week and do some power-walking through the deep sand a few miles, I ride my bike 2-3 times a week, and go to the gym to keep my self in shape.
A few years ago I couldn't fit into size 38 pants due to bad eating habits and no excercise so I changed my life around.
Excercise, regular excercise is now a part of my life.
I might get 2 burgers once every two months from Wendy's but that's about it for fast foods for me. I haven't stepped foot inside a Mc D's for 5 years now!
Yes, I think that we Dominants have a responsibility to stay in good shape for our subs/slaves!
If I hadn't changed my own habits I'd be a fat-ass myself now with no-one to blame but myself  waddling around in size 44 pants. Oh I suppose I could blame it on "my thyroid" but that would be lying to myself. It's just not "ok" to be fat; it's dangerous! It's unattractive, call an insurance agent to your house to try and get medical or life insurance if you're obese, good luck!
Now, age and ugliness I can't do anything about. I'm in pretty good shape for being 55 years old.
As for liking skinny, petite or slender women that's just the type of woman I'm attracted to and always have been my whole life. That's the type of girls that there were in my city in the 50s & 60.s We simply didn't have any fat kids because we were all always outside playing or working.
An overweight woman wouldn't enjoy being around me because I do things that just don't revolve around food. My life doesn't revolve around food.
I might eat once or twice a day and I consider even that much an imposition on my time. I mean I do like to go out to dinner a few times per week as a "treat" but that's about it.
I might have a banana or some grapes or raisins as a "snack."
That's the extent of it for me.
When I go walking on the beach or riding my bike or to the gym I never see obese people but everytime I go to the Chinese all you can eat buffet I see tons of them (pardon the pun) what does that tell you?
No-one "has" to be overweight. Start out by taking a short walk everyday a half hour or so and increase it a little each day.
THAT's how you get started!
I'm a big proponent of walking and biking to stay in shape! Why? Because they work!
Just DO IT! And get rid of the excuses!
I'm now working on getting into size 34 pants.
If I'd done nothing they'd be size 44 pants!
What does that tell you?

Status: offline 		Oh yeah, VERY well Said.  In the last week or so I have been on this site I have had the chance to look over some profiles.
WOWIE.
I have seen many people seeking out of the realm of possibility, imo.   50 yr old men who may be disabled, wanting a 20-30 yr old sub who will obey and take care of them.  Or the equivalent in females looking for men. 
Heck, if we are going to go there I wouldn't mind having Brad Pitt (who is at least my age, though gorgeous), or one of those male models like RObyn Sinclair.
 I mean as long as I am being unrealistic at least I can have some fun fantasy fodder.

the reason i only discussed men is because this topic is ONLY being brought up about men. she didn't come in saying it's men, fashion, etc. etc. and i am sticking on topic to this one specific issue. i am well aware that it is not just men but a whole collective of 'camps' that make the huger issue.

once again, nothing wrong with preferences. first off i am comenting on what the subject of the topic is and second off there is a difference between having a preference and being rude about it. for example it's a perference to say you don't like black women, but it's rude saying you don't like those fat, ugly, n-word monkey black people. catch my drift? she was expressing distaste for the second part of the example.

even further, there is a difference between what you accept/tolerate and agreeing with it. there is alot of things i don't like personally but i tolerate and belive it is okay and those that are/use/etc. etc. things i don't agree with are not bad people because of it. but in this example these men are beliving the women that don't fit their personal preferences are bad, etc. i hope that clears it up for you.

nothing wrong with being senstive...but sometimes you need to put your big girl panties on.

so true! i think sometimes people make it seem so complicated to workout. but i went from a size 16 in pants to now a size 12 just from walking around campus instead of taking the shuttle to and from school and doing yoga every now and then, but mainly walking.
