If you mention Joe Montana, you have to mention Dwight Clark.

Awwww, don't be scared Katy... take a nice deep breath.. let it out and relax..
That's a girl....

You're Steelers and my Pats.. not a very good start, but it's early.. a few kinks to work out. Hopefully things will start  clicking for both teams, if not we have a long season in store, Katy
As for TO, he shouldn't be playing Level. He needs to be on a nice comfy couch talking to some one who actually gives a damn about him. I have such mixed opinions of him. Probably the greatest talent in the NFL right now. Absolute cynanide to any team that is foolish enough to give him a contract. A very sad human being who will die before his time if he doesn't  get his house in order.. A very sad man, yet as lethal as they come.

Do you have the nfl network?  If it ends up being a close game they will air it in the following week.  Last night I watched part of the Bengals vs Steelers again.  It fulfilled a maso need I have.

And yep, our teams are off to a rough start.  Ben swears it will be turned around, so I will wait and see.

Have fun in Mexico

T.O. is going to be weird as long as he lives lol. But like you say, he's a great talent, and he has guts. The radio stations have been ripping his ass all week.... running "T.O." reports every 5 minutes......."TO is still alive as of now... ".....oy.

As for the Bengals; the defense has finally shown signs of holding up their end, and that's all they needed. I can picture them and Indy in the AFC title game, with the NFC team looking on in horror of either of them lol.

The Bengals kick ass.
And they have the ugliest uniforms in the nfl.

Arrrrggggghhhh! I hate those uniforms. The ones before that were cool, but now they look like they were designed by a blind man.

There are lots of good teams in the AFC.  (The AFC's strength over the NFC in football may be even bigger than the AL's strength over the NL in baseball--and the AL, well,  totally kicks the NL's ass.)  San Diego's defense is probably the best in the NFL, but they're not going to win because they're coached by Marty Schottenheimer.  But judging from the first three games, I'd say the Baltimore Ravens are the team that's going to play the Bengals in the conference championship--not Indianapolis.  They finally have a quarterback.

But any of these teams would win the NFC.  I don't know who's the best team in the NFC--probably the Chicago Bears, and there are about six AFC teams that would beat the Bears.

My fave still has to be Dick Butkus (Chicago Bears)...., I still recall a commercial they had with him where he said something like this..."I just keep picking up players and throwing them out, until I find the one with the ball".

The Chargers' D is tops, Lam, I agree, and if Tomlinson stays healthy, and Rivers doesn't blow it, they sure could be there (Marty or not heh heh).

Baltimore.... hmm. I'm not convinced yet.

On the NFC side, every team has a glaring weakness, mostly on offense. Dallas, Chicago, Philly and Carolina all have stout defenses, but Jeckyl and Hyde offenses.

I don't trust Rivers (yet) and I will always bet against Schottenheimer in the playoffs.  Always.  This team lost at home to the JETS a couple of years ago.  The JETS!  Case closed.

One other thing we're learning is that Drew Brees is an outstanding quarterback, and Schottenheimer was a fucking moron for letting him get injured.

The jury is still out on the Ravens, but they have a relatively easy schedule, so they have a chance to get a good seeding in the playoffs, and I'm a firm believer in the theory that some coaches can win Super Bowls and others can't.

Edited to add: Tomorrow's game, of course, is going to reveal a lot.

Schottenheimer has had more close calls than Evel Knievel . It's rumored he has an Ernest Byner doll in his office, chock-full of pins.

Brees is a helluva QB. I would also blame the Charger higherups for letting him go to Nawlins (the undefeated Saints?? I didn't see that coming....)

Somewhere, the ghost of Bud Grant is groaning lol.

Indeed it shall, I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah, and don't forget Dan Reeves and Marv Levy.  I wouldn't be too surprised if Tony Dungy ends up on the list too.  And Marty Schottenheimer is already there.  All great coaches, but not my guys if I want to win the Super Bowl--though I feel bad for Levy.  He's the best of that group.

Anyway, I'd have to say George Halas, Vince Lombardi, Don Shula, and Bill Walsh were the greatest head coaches ever.  One day they might add Bill Belichick to that list, but it's too soon.

Hey, don't forget Tom Landry. He not only played pro ball, but he invented the 4-3 defense, and led Dallas to 2 titles (nearly 5 of them),  and 20 consecutive winning seasons.

And I agree on Levy, he was a terrific coach.
