ORIGINAL: dark~angel Really feeling I just need to add my support for the Mods. It would be wonderful if there could be more, but the reality is that not many people have the time nor the inclination to Moderate. I think what the 3 or 4 Mods that are here already do a great job. Too many cooks an all that... there has to be the right mixture. I am sure they need help at times... so where are the people who can offer them that? Yes... things slip through... yes, I am sure some threads get pulled for what seems to us, the wrong reasons. But on the whole, this is a good site. There will be times that People feel disenchanted and move on... which is probably the wisest thing to do... at least they are not festering in their gloom... Sometimes its the time to move on... maybe people will return, even for a fleeting visit. So we will welcome them back.. say Hi and probably bye when they leave again. This is a free site, trying to protect itself from the barrage of organisations and fundamentalism that is TRUELY trying to censor people whilst trying to provide a forum for people to express themselves and their rights. And I think they do a damn good job. We wouldnt be here otherwise, would we? Well said angel! I am new to collarme, but have been using usenet or and other various web-based newsgroups for over 15 years. I am currently active on several other non-kink sites and usenet groups still. I have even been a moderator on one. It is indeed a thankless job - yet moderatos are the first to get beaten up verbally for doing their job. I have also left several such sites - some cause I lost interest, some cause I had my own disagreements with the moderators. Such is life, no ? ...ever changing, never stagnant. Like these sites themselves. Yes we miss the 'old guard', but fresh blood (pardon the pun) is what truly makes these forum worthwhile. Otherwise, they are little more than mutual admiration societies revolving around a particular interest and/or dominant personalities (again pardon the pun). both useless in the pursuit of knowledge IMO. What I've always found intriguing is the need for some to announce they are leaving when, for whatever reason, they've had enough of whatever they'v had enough of. That's never been my style. When I leave it's a personal decision and I just dissapear - no fan fare, no bitching, no pointing fingers, no validation needed. Sometimes, as angel mentioned, I come back - sometimes not. But announcing one is leaving smacks to me of nothing more than ego.. no intentions of offending anyone - it's again just MNSHO. Being new here I am soaking in what I can... participating where I feel comfortable - and learning the various personalities and politics inherent on any such board. I understand I'm not privy to much of it yet - but human nature is human nature wherever you may go. Overall I think collarme is an excellent site, beyond excellent even as it provides all of us a forum to be who we are - within the guidelines laid out by the moderators... FOR FREE! To those lamenting the loss of esteemed posters, be they only recently active or "old guard'.. I can sympathize - but it's too easy to forget what a wonderful forum we are being provided with, too easy to let personality override principles, and it's too easy to point to the influx of newcomers. A sites' growing popularity is not a bad thing IMO, it's a good thing- particularly in this lifestyle but I beleive that holds true for most interests/hobbies. Yes it means more much to read through and inevitably much more to ignore and discard - but everyone was new sometime (to either this lifestyle or this forum). I for one, will always consider myself relatively new to the lifestyle no matter what experience I gain.. I have found that it keeps me humble and keeps me open for new lessons to be learned. I am grateful to have been told of this site (thanks to you know who) and plan on sticking around. I'm sure we'll be saying more 'goodbyes', but hope for far more 'welcomes' and 'welcome backs'. Best, Joshua
