I know Proud, but some may not take it that way. While other's are very happy that you have. I honestly don't know what the general conscentious would be.
I see it as helpful but at the same time I probably would'nt follow the link. Then again, I may too....just not sure.

I know that you are trying to be helpful proud and a lot of times you are.
I and some new people though might like, instead of having to go back the the voices of the past, would like to get the Fresh thoughts of the people presently reading.
It could take the thread in a whole New direction(kind of like this one has. Just my thoughts...

I for one, adore prouds help with the links.

Yes... it is good to have new perspective on things and see questions asked that have been answered before , and go over new ground.

But there are also really useful thoughts on subjects from people that dont visit anymore... or at least not so often. They have contributed and had something to add. I think sometimes its good to refresh our memories.
Its not good to wallow in the past, but it is interesting to compare it with thoughts of the current day.

Now to present a problem without providing possible solutions doesn't solve anything. I would propose that Collarme finds itself 8-10 more moderators to help monitor the boards. Sometimes threads are closed quickly because its easier to close the thread and reveiw it later, than to let it get out of control while the mod is busy with the many other things that must be reviewed. More mods mean more time availanle to review and assess. If there were more moderators, time could be used to sift through the threads and remove only the posts that violate the TOS.

are you volunteering?? <wink>

best,
Joshua

More mods mean more time availanle to review and assess. If there were more moderators, time could be used to sift through the threads and remove only the posts that violate the TOS. More mods could allow a more detailed review by multiple mods to determine if a thread has turned into flaming personal attacks, or if it is simple a heated debate in which people feel strongly about their position and argue in support of their convictions.

I have thought and thought on your response Thorns, but I see no logic in it. As the *actual* issue is a moderator pulling a thread and sticking it in the private section until such a time as they could review it and get the opinions of other's, how do *more* moderator's help? If a Moderator feels the string looks like it is getting out of control, they are going to still do this be there one of them or 30 of them.

How does having *more* give any *more* time at the exact time they feel there is some issue? That moderator would still only have how ever much time they have and that would still be the only logical course of action for THEM to do at that moment. They still would want to avoid things getting more out of control while they found other's to talk to since *flaming* is a very subjective issue.

That doesn't mean it would hurt to have more moderators, but reality is that too many people have trouble separating their own views/thoughts to rules... Plus, it is still a volunteer position, and not everyone can give that much of commitment of time and energy.

Hi am fairly new to the boards have been reading alot and posted a few, lately have noticed a change in the tone of some of the responses, like for instance the guy calling all men subs to stand up and be men that women where out for their wallets ...etc..... and the corresponding debates or comments I felt were appropriate, and I too have noticed a change in insideyourminds responses, isn't he having some health problems? Could be the cause. But yes there has been a definate change in atmospere here and not all bad but a few new posters not have courtesy in here, is what I see and the older experienced ones putting them in their place more or less. Those are the ones I feel should be sensored, the ones with obvious intent to start garbage here, I too enjoy reading and learning from the experiences of others caring enough to share with those of us who are kind of wondering around and still learning, have found alot of useful new stuff here almost everyday, and I wish to say thank you to all who contribute even the "blunt " ones for that is who they are, try working in a factory there you get blunt and mean not blunt and to the point with out meaness.

Really feeling I just need to add my support for the Mods.

It would be wonderful if there could be more, but the reality is that not many people have the time nor the inclination to Moderate. I think what the 3 or 4 Mods that are here already do a great job. Too many cooks an all that... there has to be the right mixture. I am sure they need help at times... so where are the people who can offer them that? Yes... things slip through... yes, I am sure some threads get pulled for what seems to us, the wrong reasons. But on the whole, this is a good site. There will be times that People feel disenchanted and move on... which is probably the wisest thing to do... at least they are not festering in their gloom... Sometimes its the time to move on... maybe people will return, even for a fleeting visit. So we will welcome them back.. say Hi and probably bye when they leave again.

This is a free site, trying to protect itself from the barrage of organisations and fundamentalism that is TRUELY trying to censor people whilst trying to provide a forum for people to express themselves and their rights.

And I think they do a damn good job. We wouldnt be here otherwise, would we?

Well said angel! I am new to collarme, but have been using usenet or and other various web-based newsgroups for over 15 years. I am currently active on several other non-kink sites and usenet groups still. I have even been a moderator on one. It is indeed a thankless job - yet moderatos are the first to get beaten up verbally for doing their job. I have also left several such sites - some cause I lost interest, some cause I had my own disagreements with the moderators. Such is life, no ? ...ever changing, never stagnant. Like these sites themselves. Yes we miss the 'old guard', but fresh blood (pardon the pun) is what truly makes these forum worthwhile. Otherwise, they are little more than mutual admiration societies revolving around a particular interest and/or dominant personalities (again pardon the pun). both useless in the pursuit of knowledge IMO.

What I've always found intriguing is the need for some to announce they are leaving when, for whatever reason, they've had enough of whatever they'v had enough of. That's never been my style. When I leave it's a personal decision and I just dissapear - no fan fare, no bitching, no pointing fingers, no validation needed. Sometimes, as angel mentioned, I come back - sometimes not. But announcing one is leaving smacks to me of nothing more than ego.. no intentions of offending anyone - it's again just MNSHO. Being new here I am soaking in what I can... participating where I feel comfortable - and learning the various personalities and politics inherent on any such board. I understand I'm not privy to much of it yet - but human nature is human nature wherever you may go.

Overall I think collarme is an excellent site, beyond excellent even as it provides all of us a forum to be who we are - within the guidelines laid out by the moderators... FOR FREE!

To those lamenting the loss of esteemed posters, be they only recently active or "old guard'.. I can sympathize - but it's too easy to forget what a wonderful forum we are being provided with, too easy to let personality override principles, and it's too easy to point to the influx of newcomers. A sites' growing popularity is not a bad thing IMO, it's a good thing- particularly in this lifestyle but I beleive that holds true for most interests/hobbies. Yes it means more much to read through and inevitably much more to ignore and discard - but everyone was new sometime (to either this lifestyle or this forum). I for one, will always consider myself relatively new to the lifestyle no matter what experience I gain.. I have found that it keeps me humble and keeps me open for new lessons to be learned.

I am grateful to have been told of this site (thanks to you know who) and plan on sticking around. I'm sure we'll be saying more 'goodbyes', but hope for far more 'welcomes' and 'welcome backs'.

Best,
Joshua

Well said Bigbossman i to belong to another sight and yes we to have our problems but most of them envalve a poster wanting their way and forgiting the rules.I do think at least some of us have a self immage problem that gets in our way somtimes and we let our better judgement go by the wayside.
