I just realized something. I have this long detailed profile that I put some thought into and I've been keeping it active for a month or so, tweaking it every now and again. But, I forgot the most important thing. A sense of humor. Nowhere did I mention "fun" Needless to say, I added that as a criteria.

But, it got me to thinking. In the past, when things were good, I knew they were good, because I was having fun. Even when I was getting the crap beat out of me, I was loving it because it was fun. And, when I stopped having fun, everything else went bad because, well, it just wasn't fun any more. There was no laughter or joy. No giggling. No irony. Just grim reality, as heavy as the winter is long.

I feel like I should put out some profound and serious question about fun. But, that would be counter productive. So, Im wondering what role does humor and silliness play in whatever it is that you all do when youre doing it. And, if humor is important, how do you keep it fun?

A former boss had a sign in his office: "The beatings will continue until morale improves." Your post made me think of that :)

As for silliness and fun - oh yes we have it. Master more than I, since I'm too damn serious for my own good sometimes. Of course, his fun always seems to be at my expense...hmmm.....

Speaking of which...my Dom got me a shirt that says the exact same thing. In fact, I'm wearing it now. My boss gave me some strange looks when I wore it to work!

Laughter is as much a part of our lives as breathing and if I wasn't laughing, it would be because I have stopped breathing.

As for keeping it fun .. it's the little things, I think, which are important. Just joking around and stuff. Yesterday, Himself wanted a cup of coffee, so I went and made him a cup and brought it downstairs to him. I set his coffee on the counter downstairs and walked slowly into his office with a cup .. it was obvious from the slowness of my step that the cup was quite full and I was being very careful not to spill it on the rug. The step before I was actually in front of him, I pretended to trip and he jumped thinking he was about to get a lap full of hot coffee.

The cup, of course, was an empty one I had brought down with me. ::laughs:: He has a wonderful sense of humor and laughed with me as I went to get his real coffee from the counter. Later, he made mention of the fact that if there had been coffee in that cup, it would have burned him and made him red. He proceeded to show me just how red skin could get when it gets burned. He didn't use coffee though, and it wasn't my lap which was the recipient of his attention.

Oh yes, quite a bit of fun. ::chuckles::

We have a lot of fun when we are togther, angel and I. Especially when we are out with otehr people. My rather sarcastic sense of humor goes over well with his friends, and it is a major counterpoint to his VERY quiet demeanor usually. The last time we al went out together, his friends and I, it was fal down laughter almost al night. You know its in for something good when your first conversation starts:
Angel says "Ok, I ordered my shake with no whipped cream and no cherry. Do you want my cherry?"
"Well, thats probably the only way Im gonna get it." And I wiggled my eyebrows at him.
All 4 of his male friends sitting with us promptly held their own cherries out to me as well. "Well," one said, "since your collecting..."

The waitstaff thought we were hysterical...

I think it's just part of my bubble.

I tell people that 90% of what I say is either informative, or entertaining. Sometimes both.

(The other 10% of the time I'm boring even myself, and that WON'T do.)

So, with me, the party travels with me. If I know someone well enough to be entertaining, I tend not to stop that dynamic. Even in 'play'.

One day I was talking to my Daddy about the type of dishes I thought he should buy for his new apartment (he needs a new set) and he then grabbed me by my arm into his bedroom and told me to service him orally, everytime I went about trying to do that he kept moaning and saying things about dish patterns. I would start laughing, it is not easy to laugh and give a blow job at the same time let me tell ya. So I am laughing and then he grabs my hair and tells me to start again... when I do he starts moaning about dish patterns... I could not contain myself... it just was too funny.

With him my life will always be filled with laughter, and I need this like I need air and water...

If you can not come up with a clever way to intigrate into your profile your need for a sense of humor in your partner, you may want to simply ask if the Dominant is able to laugh at Himself at times, with others, and at life in general. Or mention that laughter is important to you, and that you want someone "capable of seeing the humor in a situation"... that "life is too short to not have laughter". This at least gets it mentioned... and can always be changed when you are so inspired...

Weeeeeeell, first ... You need to find something shaped like a microphone. Then depending on whether you're in the mood to sing, crack jokes or play like Monty Hall, the sky is the limit!

(I've found that auctioning off items around you is an excellent way to pass the time! -- You can get into bidding wars with yourself! I paid $2.19 for a set of 1951 Classic Harry's, only one previous owner!)

If you think about it .. you've got the Master type laying, usually on his back, hopefully naked .. and you've got this wonderful (I was going to say little, but I don't want to insult anyone!) built in gadget all ready to go.

If you're running for Miss America, it's a great way to practice the talent competition.

it keeps me alive. i keep it going however i can and spend a lot of time entertaining myself in stupid ways and finding amusement in the smallest things. blogging is good for when my silliness isn't appropriate anywhere else.

How can it not be fun, there's so many wonderful things to experience!

After all, we do all this for our own satisfaction and gratification - if we're not getting fun and pleasure there's not much point. And I totally agree with the OP, when the fun's gone, you know it's all over.
