Status: offline 		i guess this also applies to Dominants, but how long did it take you to find your Master/Mistress?
What did you have to go through and how did you meet? How old were you too?

i'm asking so that i could get an idea of how long i will have to wait or what i have to go through...

Status: offline 		The weeding process is a bitch!  Well, no actually I'm the Bitch and the weeding process is time consuming.  Yet at times, if you're lighthearted, it can be quite amusing.  I laugh at alot of the emails I receive here once I realize that there will be no follow through.

Luckily, I have met some pretty darned good submissives through here as well as through the local community.  Take Quivver's advice to heart, patience is a requirement here just as it would be in findinng the right mate in the vanilla world.  The couple that I've found here since I've been on the site that have gotten through my first initial questionnaire, standard BDSM list completion, initial meet and then subsequent trials of how well they follow instructions, will honestly serve me around my house and how they endure one of my scenes (negotiated of course) are from this site.  The process for me involves really getting to know them over time and finding out also how they will handle any possible gaps of time without hearing from me.  There's much more to it than meets the eye and  I want to test for various possibilities and to see how they will handle different situations and how they bounce back.  Just too much to really write here.

Status: offline 		It can take a long time.  I have owned before, but it took me a little over a year from my divorce to find Angel. He and I talked for months before we figured out we wanted to be together, too.  And then, after we were together, it still took 4 months before he got his collar. Be patient, good things come to those who wait.

You're wait will take as long as anyone else looking for that right person to be with.
Best advice is to keep to your standards and except no subsitutions. If you're having to wait, make sure it's worth waiting for.

Status: offline 		I agree  with the rest don't settle wait for what you want, i know it is hard to wait though.  I have no idea how long it took to meet my late Master i was not really activitly looking.  My current Master it took a year, and he found me i did not find him and it was 1000% worth the wait.

Status: offline 		Well, your young and have time on your side.  Funny every time I looked for something I never found it, when i stopped looking and just lived my life everything I wanted found its way to me.

So, find a comfy chair and relax, all good things come to those that wait for what they want.  Just don't settle

If it's just play time you need to pass the time, join a local club,munches and whatever else is in your area.

i've never actually looked for one. they just stalk me. nah, i met both on vanilla sites. the first wasn't even a dating site, it was a philosophy channel on IRC. i was 24yo, and 32yo the second time (with a couple of vanilla r'ships in between.) what did i go through? pure hell... heh... nah, same as any other r'ship.

Status: offline 		Cheesy as it sounds...my entire life.  I finally met him when I was 38.  Had I not gone through all my previous experiences - painful, happy, frightening, exciting as they were, we would not have connected as we did.  And when he came along in my life, I was no longer looking, and in fact was hesitant to even bother talking with him.

Amazing how life turns out.  Keep the faith.  :)

Status: offline 		It can be as short as this week, or as long as never.  There is no way to tell anyone else how long it will take them to find someone.  I have been through many duds to get to my Master, and I am sure you will find the same looking for your Mistress. 
 
Just don't settle for something that looks good, to have something.. it's worth waiting for something that is totally perfect, to be with someone that you really care about.
 
When you least expect it, that is probably when it will happen.  Don't give up, and most of all, don't settle.

Status: offline 		I met my Dom in a vanilla relationship when I had given up on relationships altogether and was finally comforable being alone. I was 21 and he was 29 at the time.
I think you'll have more luck with people you meet in real life than over the internet, but that's me. I'm always amazed what I don't know about people.
Patience is a virtue, in this case. Be selective, and don't settle for something wrong just to have someone. It isn't worth it.

Status: offline 		Well, if you count from the day i was born......it took me 40 years.  If i count from when i finally reached a point in my life that i truly needed to be who i was and could no longer simply toss it aside.....it took 24 years.

I am going to be 47 here in a few months, i met Thorns when i was 40....was worth the wait....was worth sifting through all the play partners...was worth all the effort.
