Status: offline 		i had an interesting discussion with a dom friend who is entertaining the idea of having his sub wear a burka once in a while with nothing on underneath in public.  Some of the thoughts that went though my mind ranged from her being racially targeted, to being extremely hot in the summer with nappy sweaty hair stuck to my forehead, to extreme erotic imaginings. 
 
Is this something any of you have ever considered trying?

Status: offline 		No, it's not a sexy idea to me at all and in vanilla public I'd feel I'd be insulting others.

There are other types of religious/symbolic/culturally sensitive things I'd do for kink in private or kink public setting (I'd have no problem being a little jewish virgin with a tough nazi guard)- but this doesn't do anything for me and I'd never do it in vanilla public.

There is a line though and agree somethings are best left out of the vanilla eye.

Status: offline 		Wearing a fur coat (or fake as I dont believe in real fur) with nothing on underneath and being a little naughty at times to make people wonder 'is she or isnt she' could be good but I couldnt see myself wearing something that is normally worn on religious reasons as erotic - as LA has already stated, it seems a little insulting to others.... the naughty nun is one thing but the minxy muslim is something else - think it might make a few people frown. (im not trying to cause offence with my last sentence, jeeeez all this PC crap is getting on my nerves lol)

No, not really. I just think there are far too many sensitivities about all this stuff at the moment for it to be a good idea.

Status: offline 		I remember a lady and her husband coming in to my office a few years ago, and I couldn't help but ask her if she was hot in her burka, since it was summer and I was sweating in a t-shirt and short skirt. She smiled and whispered that she wasn't wearing anything under it. She was a Western-born woman, free to speak her mind (her hubby smiled when she told me she was nude underneath) and loved that she didn't have to think about what to wear. In the winter she just layers up underneath.

For me, personally, I think that there's too much potential uproar if you did that. I would also expect 'good' Catholics would have a conniption (sp?) if you wore a habit in public and were clearly not a nun. We do as we please, with more or less tact as we please, so do as you will, but that's my two cents worth.

Oh, one more thing - you didn't think I was done already, did you? - I see agirl's point - I would love to be able to go out and be 'invisible' once in a while.

I should know better than to assume....
As far as the danger,people get attacked in all sorts of
clothing styles,so I guess that doesnt really play into a whole lot.

Status: offline 		Back when i covered for islamic reasons.. (long story)  it wasn't a burkha, it was loose western clothes with a scarf.  i was covered wrist to ankle, hair and all, but i didn't veil.  Believe it or not, veiling the full face is considered immodest in some circles because the idea (in some sects)  is to cover parts deemed beautiful or attractive to males, so covering your whole face is snickered at as if it's self-proclaiming your distracting beauty.  Men who insist wives use full cover are considered show-boats.

Oddly nuf,  the multiple layers did not cause discomfort in summer,  and i didn't find it all particularly humiliating at work.. but i did feel in danger walking around, because it was the height of the Iran hostages thing, and plenty of islamics, (mostly men, or hispanic men that looked islamic) got dragged to bathrooms and beaten senseless. 

i think the biggest problem suffered now would be she would be subject to search, and detainment if there was a security scare at any mall.   Best not to distract legit security from doing thier jobs, eh?

The first thing that came to my mind is a reflection of something LA said...seems like an easy way to make his submissive a target out in public.  Like it or not, there are people who would not be overly nice right now to someone in that type of outfit.  Also...considering this type of dress is something that is dictated by their laws which are based on their religion, it seems somewhat disrespectful on their part even if not done intentionally. 

Privately...I can think of several scenes in my head where a religious aspect would come into my play (I do call myself "Creative" for a reason..) but publicly...no.  There are enough ways to find trouble without inviting it.

Status: offline 		I had to laugh watching that vid as i ate a bbq pork sandwich. There's a site called burka project or something like that where 3 naked women in burkas go around paris. While someone is well within their rights to wear one if they so choose I'd advise against it unless you are trying to follow that strict requirement of that religion. It will draw the attention of all around as it's connection to those with evil intent is obvious. Unlike the curious and humorous looks that amish get when out with others i would think that outfit would draw concern and fear in addition.

Status: offline 		ROFL!...  It's clothing.   You or your friends want to go into public wearing it, go for it.  Expect potential retaliation from radicals.  Get off on the idea that you are wearing nothing underneath.  Doesnt matter.  Wear a houserobe if you like.  Expect retaliation from some for that too.  Find your kink however you like, but once you play into public exhibition, accept that it may have negative results from the public.

Catholics deserve as much respect as Muslims.  If you are going to make exceptions to dissing one religion over another, then it is because of the current 'fear' that you are experiencing.  If you are going to soil a religious belief, why discriminate against any particular religion?  Perhaps its time for a replay of the inquisitions and crusades...you'd be afraid to speak out against the catholics if it were so... 

So yes "all this pc crap is getting on my nerves."  Stop being afraid.  Wanna get your kink in public wearing religious/racial attire?  Go for it.  Stop being afraid and pc, and stop catering to the fear...  That is the current agenda... to be afraid of speaking out against that fundementalist intererpetation of that religion, because bad things might happen to you. Have faith that they are a small minority overall,  but be ready for the consequences if you decide to flaunt it in their faces.

No...I am not catholic....merely one sick of the catering to those that have earned 'respect' through the persecution and fear instilled in others through violence. 

And yes, to the OP... I would think that burkas would be itchy, cumbersome, uncomfortable, erotic, and possibly humiliating to a submissive...  perhaps the perfect disciplinary action to a submissive that had earned it...but I would certainly be present to protect her in case things got out of hand in current world dynamics.  Additionally, I have no intention of subjecting my submissive to this.  It's not our kink.  I just got abit irritated by givemyall's discrimination and submitting to barbaric religions based on her fear.
