Ed Hochuli is known as a pretty bad ref.

DarkSteven -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/8/2013 6:46:41 PM)

The Giants are desperate to give the game away. Are the Cowboys good enough to take the offer?

DaddySatyr -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/8/2013 7:15:12 PM)

(I'm going to start posting dates on this thread so people have a frame of reference) 2213 EDT 08 SEP 2013

The Giants look lost which is something that is unusual for a Coughlin team.

I don't know what the issue is, exactly, but it looks like they're unprepared and that is definitely not a typical Coughlin team.

Manning is on pace for 112 TD passes.

SubudSC -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/8/2013 8:21:10 PM)

Panthers still the best in the league at finding ways to lose games.

Hillwilliam -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/8/2013 9:08:06 PM)

Any Giants fans out there? [sm=lol.gif]

Peyton, that is, not Eli. If Eli IS on pace for 112, most of them would be to opposing teams. [:)]

DaddySatyr -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/9/2013 4:29:58 AM)

I almost felt bad for Eli, Last night. Twice, I saw that "deer-in-the-headlights" look.

His decision-making was hideous and he really had no one to blame but himself.

This may be from out of left field but, I wonder if he isn't very distracted by something. Archie isn't young and I always got the impression that he and his dad are a lot closer than Peyton and Archie.

TNDommeK -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/9/2013 5:19:29 AM)

Manning helped the cowboys win with that fucked up pass towards the end.

Geux Saints!

I'm a Noo Yawkuh. Ever since I "came of age" regarding sports (1969), I've been a METS, JETS, and Islander fan.

I can't help it. It's in the water in Brooklyn.

I grew up in the shadow of Shea Stadium.

~Moment of silence for Shea.~

I wrote my term paper on the Mets. Been a Jets fan through the good times and the Kotite years. I'm still a fan even though I've moved a few times. (Living in Dolphin territory was tough. Here in Da Bears' land isn't as bad.)

Some of my fondest (and worst) memories are from Shea Stadium. Baseball ... Football ... Concerts ...

I was there in that cold December when O.J. broke the season rushing record. I was there in'73 when Rose showed the entire world what an asshole he was. I was there the first time Richard Todd through a pass in Shea.

I'm a long-suffering fan.

I grew up on Glenwood and 39th In Brooklyn but, between Shea and Coney Island, those were the summertime destinations.

DaddySatyr -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/12/2013 5:45:54 AM)

It's Thursday and the opening night of Thursday Night Football for the 2013 season and I just want to say:

JAY! EEE! TEE! ESS! JETS!!! JETS!!! JETS!!!

I had them being 3-6 (if they were lucky) by their bye week (week 10) but, I was counting Tampa Bay as a loss. If my guys are able to beat Belicheat, tonight (they've actually done pretty well in Foxborough), they'll be 2-0 and essentially in first place in the division. If the rest of my predictions hold true, that makes them 5-4 at the bye week (and they don't play Miami until after the bye. In fact their whole schedule is easier after the bye than before).

5-4 with the ease of the rest of the schedule puts them at 8-8 or 9-7. I'm getting a little pumped (though, I'd be happier if Simms were under center).

DarkSteven -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/12/2013 6:46:54 AM)

Well, Michael, my gf who is a real FB nerd, is predicting a Jets win tonight. Brady's got nobody good to throw to. He's likely still pissed that he deferred compensation to free up money for receivers, and the Pats almost instantly let Welker go. She's NOT predicting a good season for NE.

Some might call that a "hollow victory" but NE had to come back down to earth, sooner or later. They've been near the top of the heap for a long time and we all know that some of the methods they used to get there were not exactly kosher.

I would be happy enough to see them make it to the play-offs and just cast the die because they've done pretty well, when they've done that in the recent past.

If they win, tonight, I do see them at 5-4 after week 9. The first half of their schedule is MURDER. I just looked at their schedule, again and with a little bit of luck they could be 9-6 for the season. With an incredible amount of luck, they could be 10-6 but I'm counting Oakland and Baltimore as absolute losses.

Brady's concern for his money may be well founded. If you ask me to borrow $50 so you can feed your family and you spend $25 to feed your family and use the rest to play online poker or some other frivilous endeavor, I'd be a bit miffed, too.

DarkSteven -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/12/2013 7:34:09 AM)

I see them as 4-5 or 3-9 by the bye.

I agree that they'll lose to Bmore, but why would you count Oakland as a sure loss?

Well, historically, the JETS don't play well against Oakland; no matter what condition the Oakland team is in.

I will say that for me - since this is one of the few times the JETS haven't had to travel out to Oakland in say the last 15 years - I think it's pretty close to a "pick 'em" game but, it's just the kind of game that the JETS will typically "lay down" for.

DarkSteven -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/12/2013 8:31:21 PM)

Aside from the game itself, the commercials are being mishandled horribly. There have been at least three commercials that have been truncated early.

stef -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (9/12/2013 9:25:36 PM)

Oh man, that was one ugly game. The Pats should think about having Talib play both sides of the ball if Edelman is going to be their only reliable receiver. They sure could use his hands on offense.
