I know THAT feeling. I'm reminded of the last Superbowl when the Seahawks had to defend against the Zebras AND the Steelers

To me, this was just another typical NFL game, where a few officials moving footballs and calling mystery penalties in the defensive secondary, decided the game.

I hope Tony Romo got to hang with friends last night.

I agree with you. I think the Seahawks got screwed last season. I'm not saying they would have won, but they never got the chance last season. Same for yesterday ... I'm not saying the Cowboys would have won, just that the officials made that problematic.

All the Tony Romo haters can just FO.  He made a mistake at a bad time, but showed a lot of guts standing in front of the media, and making no excuses. Guys like that will just get better.

It's easy to be down on the Cowboys right now, but my football guru (and rabid Cowboy fan) thinks that expectations were just too high for a team that young. He also hopes Bill will retire. I kind of agree.

I guess you can call bobbling a ball a mistake.  I call it bad luck.  Parcells said that was the first one bobbled all season.  Of course, it couldn't have happened at a worse time.  I feel bad for Romo, but I think that Parcells will do some "coaching up" on him, he'll be fine.  The surprise of the night:  TO's press conference.  It was a new TO - calm, quiet, a teammate.  He didn't fuss about the loss, he didn't whine about his finger surgery.  He was a, um, standup guy.  Shocker of the night. (other than the 4th quarter of the game).

I was surprised they called it, actually.  Screen passes that deep in your own end are very dangerous.  Still, no one expected him to fumble the ball.

But they still had a chance to win even after that!  In fact, even after Romo's bobble they had a chance to get the ball back with decent field position and some time on the clock.  But they had to allow Shawn Alexander's longest run of the night.  That did it.

And I'm not real happy with that stupid screen that Glenn fumbled at the end..... anyone remember when the Redskins tried that in a Super Bowl, and the Raiders LB Rod Martin toted the interception into the end zone? Arrrrgghhhh........

Especially since, in the two years I've really been watching the Cowboys, they rarely, if ever, do well on screen passes.

I saw the replay of the gaffe, and what suprised me was that in an alternate universe or bizarro game, had Romo just dived for the endzone two miliseconds before he was touched by a SEA defender, he might have made the endzone.

What a nightmare, though. For Romo its absolute, perfect misfortune.

As for the game, the loss strikes me as similar to the Redskin loss afterwhich Vanderjact was cut.

Unlike the Chiefs, the Jets played valiently. I thought the game turned on the deflected lateral. NE looked very impressive overall. Glad they're headed to SD and not Balto. in the second rd.

Absolutely.  But I also think it was only a matter of time before the game would turn in New England's favor.  Mangini needs more horses.

A great day for a game up here today, and a great game. No gloating over here. Jets played us hard. Anyone who didn't see the game and just looks at the score would be misled. Kudos to Mangini, he took the Jets a whole lot farther than anyone thought. The Jets will be a presence as long as he is their coach.

Now, it's on to SD and I expect a dog fight there too.

Bonus for the day: Philly won ! I caught the last quarter after I got home. I still say Garcia should have gone to the Pro Bowl. You have to wonder if he takes them to the SB and wins it, what happens with the QB situation next season. Ahhhh well, all speculation , it's way too early to predict who's going to Miami and who's going home.

Congrats to all who had winners today; sympathy to the losers.  Except for the Giants, they were too sporadic this season, bye bye Tikki!

Whisenhunt is not going to Atlanta, what a relief.  This gives hope that either he or Grimm will be staying.

The best part of the hug was how Belichik strong-armed the photog out of the way to get to Mangini.  The poor guy never knew what hit him.
