I will defer to LAM and Mercnbeth, but I believe Pennington has had three shoulder injuries since 2002. I know he had a torn rotater cuff and a fractured/dislocation of his throwing hand and something else that escapes me at the moment. In his first two seasons he only made three games due to injuries and < i think> he was a fill in of sorts for Testaverde, who was floundering.. All of his injuries were of his throwing arm.

Hey Katy, who woulda thunk way back in Sept or Oct, that this thread would still be alive in 2007?

Level: Any word on Tuna ? Is he staying or going ? I really think TO stays and Coach Ego leaves. I have never seen him so disenchated as I did in his press conference last week. Of course if you make it to the big dance all bets are off. Then again, if you make it top the dance and you loose, Parcells is a real piece of shit after a SB loss. Take it from one who knows first hand what a "  non team "  guy Parcells is.                              mbmbn

I haven't heard anything, mb, but I really hope TO doesn't hang around, and Parcells does. Oy.

People are predicting that TO leaves; Parcells stays.  The people predicting are the sportscasters.  But playoffs change everything.

It's the playoffs, baby!

In Pittsburgh we wait for word on our next head coach.  Two Steelers coaches, Whisenhunt and Grimm appear to be the early favorites.  Both are interviewing with other teams.  Whisenhunt could've had the Raiders job last year, Grimm was a finalist for the Bears job when Lovie was hired.  Certainly one of these two will get an offer.  Whisenhunt may go to the Falcons, he's a former player there.  I would like to see Whisenhunt get the Steelers job.  I don't think the Steelers will take a chance on both Whisenhunt and Grimm being hired away by other teams.  Thoughts?

I bet Whisenhunt goes back to Atlanta, and Grimm stays in Pitt and brings back the tradition of the power running game. The Falcons were foolish to dump Jim Mora so quickly, I think he's a solid coach, and Miami is talking to him.

The NFL has goofy rules about when coaches on other teams can be interviewed during the playoffs (if the coaches are on playoff teams, and where they can be interviewed).  I wonder how this will impact things.  I look for a resolution as soon as possible on this as I think they'll want to give an offer to one or the other, before both of these guys get hired away from them (too many openings for head coaching jobs and they are both considered good prospects).

The hell with predictions, let's look backward.

In fifteen (15) years as an NFL coarch Bill Cowher only posted three (3) losing seasons. Twice he went a not so bad 6-10 and once he went 7-9. Never did he post an abysmal record, and he won with a core of players that rotated and for the most part never featured a top line QB. On one season he went to the AFC championship game with Kordell Stewart. In another season he went to the Super Bowl with Neil O'Donnell. One season he made Tommy Maddux look good.

Under his tenure the PITT hallmarks were always a good physical defense and a consistent running game behind a strong OL. The personnel turned over a great deal b/c PITT as an organization did not believe in overpaying for its players, so many an all pro player like Rod Woodson, Chad Brown, and others departed the Steelers and the team soldiered on without them.

All in all, the Steelers show that a franchise with a good scheme, organization, and coach can win year to year in the NFL.

The only other organization I see on par with the Steelers the past fifteen (15) years is the Bronchos.

In many ways I think it was the Steelers who have showed the Ravens how to play football, and I am curious to see how Cohwer's departure affects the balance of power in the AFC North and how the Steelers move on with a new coach at the helm.

Well, I know what you mean, but you'd think that over the course of 15 seasons he would have been able to find a good quarterback.  Yes, he won with crappy quarterbacks (at least for the most part)--but whose fault was it that he had crappy quarterbacks?

Edited to add: Don't get me wrong, I think he was a great coach.

Colts - 9
Chiefs - 0

End of first half. Both teams are out of whack on offense, so far.

I think he will be back, coaching another team.  It won't be the same, that's the Steeler jutting jaw, no one else can have it!

It hasn't been going on nearly as long as the "If unowned, is she still a slave?" thread.

Cowboys look like they are beginning to gel a bit. I'm pulling for you guys Level !! Eeven tho, I do like the Seahawks, I think Dallas will would be stronger in the next round.

I missed the last half of the Colts game. Had to go out to dinner with friends and they didn't want to eat in the bar area. So I made many a trip to the bathroom to catch a play or two. Thier defense came up big, I see. Not so sure they can keep that mojo going tho.
Gawdddddddddd, I can't wait until tomorrow !

I suspect this thread just may continue on ad infinitum. We are only in Week one of the play offs and SB isn't until Feb. We have major coaching issues in the post season and the draft. Then a brief pause and it's time for pre season. And the cycle begins all over.

And we also have the combine, so we can talk about the dumb (wonderlic test!) draftees.

Go Dallas! *passes mb a blue and silver banner*

Their D did much better, against a superb running team, but KC was also inept.

Gawdddddddddd, I can't wait until tomorrow !

I am picking the Pats *waves magic 8 ball in the air*
