I need to find something orange for SB Sunday.  I've got the blue covered.

I take it then that you're picking the Bears . I think Manning and his boys are going to pull it out.

Doh!  I should've been more explicit.  Both teams have blue.  Yes, the Bears and all that is good -- Urlacher.  And I am hoping that going to the SB will bring out the good Rex.  I like the AFC, don't get me wrong, but I can't bring myself to root for the Indy Colts.  I like watching Peyton, but I think he's so over-exposed it's ridiculous.  I hear he has no soul.

Oh, he has soul, but does he have the cojones?  I hope it's a fantastic, nailbiter of a game.

I hope it's a close game too.  Much more fun that way.

MIAMI (AP) - Ron Rivera's ready when the day arrives. Being a head coach in the NFL is the logical next step. When and where? He's not really sure, even though his name has surfaced for yet another vacancy, this time in Dallas. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6430720?MSNHPHMA I would be okay with Rivera. The one thing is, does he keep the 3-4 in Dallas? Or do we start all over again, trying to put together the personel for a 4-3 like they use in Chicago? The article also mentions Mike Singletary as a candidate....... he's one of my all-time favorites, I'd love to see him as a head coach.

I give thanks on almost a daily basis that I'm not a Bengals fan LOL. Then again, I had to live through the "Cocaine Cowboys" crap back in the late 70s-80s.

Katy, I'm very happy Favre is coming back; he's a class guy and a hell of a player (still). He needs 7 TDs to pass Dan Marino for the all-time mark, and about 3,000 yards to eclipse Marino on that count.

Years from now I intend to bore young fans silly with tales of Favre and Montana. I hope Favre gets the TD record but the yardage record might be a bit much for him to get in a sngle season and i doubt he'll play past next season.

BTW what's the consecutive games streak up to?

Further BTW DA BEARS!

Ken, it's up to 257 consecutive games. And I agree, unless he has a stellar season, which I think is certainly possible, the yardage record might be tough to get for him in one year.

From Time.com:

" Favre was acquired in a trade by former Packers general manager Ron Wolf after one season as a backup in Atlanta in 1991. He completed his first NFL pass — to himself — on Sept. 13, 1992, catching a deflection and losing seven yards.

The following week, he replaced injured starter Don Majkowski in the third quarter and led the Packers to a come-from-behind 24-23 victory over Cincinnati.

Favre started in place of Majkowski on Sept. 27, 1992, beginning the streak he often has called his biggest personal accomplishment. The 237-game regular-season streak is nearly six seasons ahead of the Colts' Peyton Manning at 144."

I just saw the thing about Brett on Packers.com..and I am soooooo happy.  Not only do I get to see one of my favorite players play another year..... I was right about him staying and my ex-girlfriend (football know it all) was wrong...Yes!!!

Anyway...glad to see he is..just wouldn't seem like Packers football without him.  I know he is older, but most of us aren't anymore ready to see him go, than he is to go.

I can't believe I missed a 50 page thread about Football...I need to visit this part of the fourm more often.

That being said, we're in for one helluva SB.

It will be a great game if 2nd half Manning runs into 2nd half Bears, Manning walked all over the Pat's , & da Bears shut the Saint's down cold.

I'm a Bears fan living in Indy, and the crazy thing here is, there's no animosity what so ever between our teams. Most Colt's fans want the ring for Peyton, but won't be too upset if they lose to da Bears.

I would love to see Manning get his ring, but not against my Bears.

The Bears need to run, run and keep running the ball, they have to keep Manningco. off the field.

The Bears D need to shut Addai & Rhodes down, Urlacher and Briggs need to smother Clark. They also need to show Manning multiple blitz pakages to make him call audibles, and reap in the benefits of Manning's mistakes.

Hester should give da Bears good field position for most of the game, and da Bears need to score often.

At first I thought Manning would be too much for my Bears, but seeing how he's played this post season, and the fact he's 0-4 on grass this year, makes me believe da Bears will pull it off by a TD or less.

Well this thread was back on page 3, sad considering that we are one day away from the biggest day in sports (in my opinion, the biggest day, anyway).  It's great that Favre is returning for what will probably be his last season, if he can stick it to some of Marino's records, good for him.  Because Favre is that word, ya know.....precious.

Later I'm going shopping for food & drink for the SB party, it should be fun.  I fear though, that I will be in a room full of Peyton lovers, gonna make it difficult for me.  It will be fun, regardless of who wins, yelling + food + drink.  It's difficult for me to root against Tony Dungy, I think he's a classy guy, and he's from my beloved Steelers.  But my shoutouts for the day belong to Grossman, Hester and another precious one....Urlacher!  hehe

I have noticed the same thing around here..being in northern Indiana, not far from Chicago or Indy.  We pretty much root for the team we like the best, but there doesn't seem to be that many hard feelings about any of it.  I think that most of us in the region know that both teams deserve this finally, and know that which ever team wins... its a great match-up between neighboring football teams.. food, fun, sports, drink..and a lot of cheering for all.

MIAMI (AP) -- Michael Irvin was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday despite a troubled past, though voters denied entry to retired NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue.

The former Dallas Cowboys receiver, who won three Super Bowls in the 1990s, got in on his third try.

Also voted in were running back Thurman Thomas, offensive lineman Bruce Matthews, defensive back Roger Wehrli and two nominees of the veterans' committee -- tight end Charlie Sanders and guard Gene Hickerson.

Inductions will be Aug. 4-5 in Canton, Ohio. The Steelers and Saints will play in the annual Hall of Fame game.
Also failing to get enough votes were Art Monk, Derrick Thomas, Andre Reed, Richard Dent, Bob Kuechenberg, Fred Dean, Ray Guy, Russ Grimm, Andre Tippett and Gary Zimmerman.

Paul Tagliabue - why did he not make it in?  He's done a lot for the sport.
Michael Irvin - hookers, cocaine & bad clothes!  (sorry Level)

LOL Katy, yeah, but he was a heck of a player.

I don't know why Tagliabue didn't make it, as you said, he played a big role in helping the NFL become what it is.

As for tomorrow's game.......... I'm picking the Colts.

Theres no fuckin way Irvin should have beat Art Monk or Richard Dent into the HOF, it just goes to show you that if you were a story, the reporters got paid writing about you, and are now paying you back.

Fuckin crack whore.

Monk was no better a player than Irvin, which doesn't mean he (nor Dent who was a top DE) shouldn't be in the Hall, and they will.

MIAMI (AP) - Snow is forecast for Chicago and Indianapolis on Sunday, and the high temperature may not climb much higher than single digits in either city.
There's no chance of that in Miami, but forecasters say there's perhaps a 50 percent chance of rain falling on the Super Bowl - something that's never happened before.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6429196

Would a sloppy field play into the open-air Bears favor?
