Looks like the Rams are interested in Ricky Williams:

Speaking of NFL upstarts : Your boy, TO has been unusually quiet this off season Level. He was in Philly a day or so ago, but he wouldn't say why and hung up on the reporter. Maybe mending fences with McNabb?

The colts have the last pick in the draft so don't think we will get anything too promising.

We < Patriots> had the last pick three out of four years and didn't do too badly. Altho in your case, with Bill Polian at the helm, I would be a little skeptical too. He needs to keep his nose out of it and leave it to Dungy and company.

Were you surprised that the Colts let Rhodes go or did you suspect it based on his arrest and later getting off on drunk driving charges?

mb, I would be stunned if TO and McNabb could sit in the same room for ten minutes lol. I keep hoping I'll wake up and he'll be playing for the Toronto Arganauts or something.....

minnetar, there are always gems to be had at many points in the draft, that's one thing I love about it .

I wasn't surprised at any of the FA you lost this year. Smart move tagging Freeney. Rhodes was gone with or without the charges. Once you win a SB, each players worth goes wayyyyy up on the free market. You guys just didn't have the cap room to keep many of your better  players. I hang out on one of the Colts MBs and this has been a discussion for a couple of years. You had some of your best defensive players coming up for FA all at once, and they way they have structured Manning, Wayne and Harrison's contracts tied you up quite a bit. I know Manning was willing to restructure,  but even at that, you could have probably only held on to one of them.
I would have loved to snatched Rhodes or June.

edited to add:   Oh yeah.. and the Colts spent some mad cash on a certain kicker last year. Think of the cap room tied up in his contract. Vanderjerk was on a slipperry slope in Indy, but you probably could have gotten AV a bit cheaper.. he wanted out of NE, and IMO would have gone for less money than Polian put on the table.

Interesting - i think with all the legal problems the Pacers have had on the sidelines there was no way that the Colts were going to keep a player undergoing those kind of things.   Rhodes will never be a superstar but a good back who i think doesn't fumble much.

i find it interesting that Pacman got suspended for a year when he hasn't been accused of any charges  - isn't it basically hanging with the wrong crowd?

Not so sure about that one. Since winning the SB , 4 Colts players have been arrested. Only Rhodes is gone. Only Rhodes was a FA.

Darrell Reid- marijuana possesion
Dexter Reid- concealed weapon and marijuana possesion
DeDe Dorsey- speeding and carrying a weapon without a license

Wow i am in shock.  The only one that was publicized in the local news had been Rhodes.  Appreciate that info.

It seems like lots of teams want to move out of those top spots. With most of the big holes filled, I think the only way the Cowboys get a starter this year, is to move up ... not usually a smart move, but this season I think it makes sense. Calvin Johnson would fit perfectly. If he's gone, Adrian Peterson would be a huge upgrade at running back or Laron Landry would fit very well at safety with Roy Williams.

Yep, I don't think Tony Dungy is too happy about that. Particularly Dexter Reids arrest. Dungy is a stand up guy and a class act. And given his sons problems with drugs, I think it makes it a bit harder for him to see his players getting in the same mess.

i respect Dungy tremendously except for one thing.  He spoke at an organization that is against gay rights.  i can understand that based on his religious foundation but i still disagree with it.

Calvin Johnson is a freak -- 6'-4" and 235, he runs a 4.31 in the 40, which is insanely fast. Dallas will have a slightly better chance at getting Dwayne Jarret out of USC, who is a solid WR.

People keep saying the Lions want out of their pick. A first this year and next to move up? Why not. A first, second and third this year to move up? I'm good with that. A first, third and Patrick Crayton to move up. I can live with that too.

Hmm, some interesting scenarios, caitlyn . I'd be especially okay with the last one, a first, third, and Crayton. It can happen! Remember, we got Tony Dorsett for a first round pick (the 24th), and 3 second round picks, I think, in order to get the Seahawks pick (number 2 overall), in 1977.

In 1974, Dallas traded DE Tody Smith and WR Billy Parks for Houston's pick (number 1 overall), and got Too Tall Jones.
