I remember right after that came out, a syndicated radio show (Bob and Tom) tried to purchase a Falcons jersey with that name on back...... no dice!

What ticks me off is the Humane Society should have been a itsy bit more aggressive in following up leads. Looks like they missed the ball and now are shoving the light onto law enforcement. Either way, if he is involved in dog fighting, I hope they lock him away. I would lock him away for the condityions they found the poor dogies in anyway.

Hi minnetar. Yep, our local station carries them and they crack me up . I believe another local station carries Joyner, if I'm not mistaken.

Agreed, mb. They just busted a guy down here for the same thing; he tied one dog up so the others could "practice" on him..... that makes me sick.

Status: offline 		Raiders can't afford to risk big money on Russell WHEN YOU'RE putting $29 million on the come line — and that's essentially what the Oakland Raiders will be doing if they wind up using the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft on Saturday — you want the best possible odds for success.  In fact, for that kind of cash, you want the closest thing possible to a lock or it could set your franchise back for a decade ... and the Raiders already don't have much room to go backward.

That figure, $29 million, is probably the amount of guaranteed money the Raiders will have to pay the No. 1 pick, regardless of who it is. The full contract will probably be in the $60 mil neighborhood for six years.

That estimate is based on the escalation of contracts given to recent No. 1 picks. Houston defensive end Mario Williams received a $54 million six-year deal last year of which $26.5 million was guaranteed. In 2005, Alex Smith got $49.5 million over six years, $24 million guaranteed, which was 20percent more than Eli Manning received the year before.

That last one makes me pause; I dearly loved to listen to Joel Buchsbaum on the radio each week, especially leading up to the draft; he was a brilliant man, who dearly loved football, and he's missed.

Status: offline 		i am puzzled at the statement that the colts need another quality target.  Manning as far as i am concerned has great wr's to throw to.  i would think that the secondary needs to be shored up and now a questionable running game.

Status: offline 		dangit Level it seemed as if the local reporters were looking for the Colts to pick up a 3rd receiver.  Pollian was seen on the news stating he would take the best person available and they would have an inkling of that by the 20th pick.

Status: offline 		It might be interresting to discuss who is today's draft busts, and sleepers.

Busts

Calvin Johnson (WR, Georgia Tech) - In my view, he is very fast for his size and has good hands. What bothers me about him is that he pushes off down field far too often. The NFL is really starting to tighten up on this. I think he is going to end up being a pretty good receiver that will be paid like a superstar.

Joe Thomas (T, Wisconsin) - Simply put, he has maxed out his body and won't get much better. He will be very much like Leonard Davis, a guy earning left tackle money, for playing right tackle or guard.

Adrain Peterson (RB, Oklahoma) - They should have taught him in college, not to run over people. He will be the most talented player on injured reserve, in the entire league.


Sleepers

Adam Carriker (DE, Nebraska) - This guy is unusually strong for a guy with his size and speed. I like him better than several players that will be taken before him. He is a monster against the run, and has good pass rushing skills.

Dwayne Jarrett (WR, USC) - Not overly fast, but gets open without pushing off. This is the best players in this draft, bar none.

Eric Weddle (S, Utah) - The way the league is structured now, guys that tackle well enough to play safety, that can also cover (speed and skill), are at a premium.

Kenny Irons (RB, Auburn) - This is the back that will end up with solid NFL game, because he is not only just a skilled runner, but a very good receiver and willing blocker.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Cornerback Jason David signed a four-year contract with New Orleans on Friday, filling a Saints' trouble spot while leaving the Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts with another hole to fill.
The Colts had a week to match New Orleans' offer sheet. David was the second starting cornerback to leave Indianapolis this offseason; Nick Harper signed with Tennessee.
