ORIGINAL: CreoleCook is it better to be lucky, or good, where football is concerned? When referring to my golf game, it's certainly better to be lucky. In the context football, it's a blend. Let's look at one somewhat memorable play: The Immaculate Reception It was lucky for the ball to come bouncing out of the collision between whoever that heathen Raider was and Frenchy Fuqua in such a way that it was a perfectly legal play (Terry was cutting it a little fine when he tossed it in there for the carom action) It was good to have a player with such nice hands, timing, and balance as Franco Harris to catch that ball a tad low, and run on into the endzone as the Good Lord (Chuck Noll) planned. My only gripe is that folks should stop trying to match or top that name for a play. "The Catch"?? Yawn...it was a nice catch in the endzone, but not one that doesn't get seen every weekend....worse is "The Drive"...wtf? sounds like a trip to Walmart. About the only plus side I have for that "drive" was that it happened to the Browns. Eric
