LOL, Katy. Neither of them are my type, goodlooking yes, but I prefer Jake the snake Plummer, go figure.
Years back I was absolutely in lust with Troy Aikman. He didn't age well tho, I think it's all those concussions, he looks kinda dumb.[&:] But I do love his analysis and his power rankings formula.

Anyone need a WR ? Keyshawn is now officially available.

mbmbn - the clean-shave Jake Plummer works for me.

About Keyshawn - did you see him play commentator?  I think he may have a future in broadcasting.

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (5/2/2007 6:22:27 PM)

There was a time when Keyshawn was a damn good receiver (one of the best downfield blockers at that position I've seen--he would just level those poor little cornerbacks).  But he's not up there anymore.  WR is one of the easiest positions to fill.  Maybe someone will pick him up as an aging mentor type, but his glory days are long over.

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Former San Diego Chargers linebacker Steve Foley pleaded guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor charge of driving with a blood-alcohol level above the state's legal limit the night he was followed and shot by an off-duty police officer.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Free agent defensive tackle Ian Scott signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, three months after starting in the Super Bowl for the Chicago Bears.
Scott, a fourth-round pick by the Bears in 2003, recorded 41 tackles in 18 games last year, including the playoffs. In four seasons with the Bears, he had 155 tackles and two sacks.
Scott is the second veteran defensive tackle signed by the Eagles this offseason. Former Indianapolis Colt Montae Reagor signed a three-year deal in March.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - Given that they used a second-round draft choice to obtain him, the Miami Dolphins clearly think John Beck might be their quarterback of the future.
Daunte Culpepper, however, still believes he's the quarterback of the present.

"For me," Culpepper said Friday, "the future is now."

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Just days after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell ordered all team doctors and trainers to attend a summit on concussions, Carolina linebacker Dan Morgan was back on the field. Morgan, who has suffered at least five concussions in his career, has heard about the summit and the concussion symposium held last month in California. He knows about the stories of depression and memory loss from numerous ex-players. He knows Leigh Steinberg recently label concussions "a health epidemic." http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6775782  OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) - On his first day as a professional football player, Troy Smith was merely one of 29 rookies trying to land a job with the Baltimore Ravens
"I'm at the bottom of the totem pole right now," he said. "I have that understanding."  His Heisman Trophy, the 54 touchdown passes he threw at Ohio State and even the No. 10 he wore as the nation's finest college football player were only a memory Friday at the team's rookie camp.

Cardinals On Playoff Path
by Adam Schien -  Fox Sports

I've been thinking it since the coaching change.
I've been feeling it through free agency.

I really got the vibe during and after the draft.

I think Ken Whisenhunt can truly lead the Cardinals to the playoffs this year.

Obviously it is way too early to get into forecasts. Seattle is a very good team; the Rams had a good draft and good free agency period; and I'm Rollin with Nolan and the Niners.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (5/5/2007 7:03:41 AM)

I think Whis can do it.  At any rate, I will be watching the Cardinals this season with some interest.  They are a team I could've cared less about in the past.

Me too, Katy. He and Grimm are going to get things right for Big Red, finally, as long as the Bidwells don't fuck everything up.

ALAMEDA, Calif. (May 4, 2007) -- JaMarcus Russell dropped back and fired a pass through tight coverage that hit fellow rookie Johnathan Holland between the 1 and the 8 on his jersey.

The top pick with the rocket arm made an immediate impression on the Oakland Raiders in his first practice.

The defense finished in the bottom five last year, so they probably still have a ton of work to do there. They didn't have a pass rush last season and didn't pick one up this season. They can probably get some help next year, because they will probably have another top ten pick. [;)]

Yes, the D isn't one of the league's primo units, but there are some good pieces in place. Chike Okeafor, Bertrand Berry, Karlos Dansby, Antrel Rolle, and Adrian Wilson are all solid players, and if they stay healthy, and pick up the new schemes, they should improve.

And yes, they should pick up some help early next year [:D]

Whisenhunt: Defense will have look of 3-4 alignment
Darren Urban, Tribune

After saying recently the Cardinals will remain in a 4-3 defensive alignment, coach Ken Whisenhunt acknowledged Wednesday his defense will have many elements of a 3-4 look -- including using former Pro Bowl defensive end Bertrand Berry at linebacker, using outside linebacker Karlos Dansby inside and putting one-time defensive tackle Darnell Dockett at end.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) - Calvin Johnson's first taste of the NFL taught him a valuable lesson. "I've got to get in better shape for mini-camp," the Detroit Lions wide receiver said. "I didn't realize what the tempo of this was going to be like."
Johnson, the second pick in last weekend's draft, was in town for Detroit's three-day rookie camp, which ended Sunday. He was joined by his fellow draft picks and a few dozen undrafted players hoping to catch someone's eye.

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) - JaMarcus Russell's immense size was much less of a jolt for many of the Oakland Raiders than the sight of Warren Sapp. The formerly bulky Sapp arrived at minicamp this weekend looking like a scaled-down version of himself, dropping nearly 50 pounds since the end of last season and weighing only about 25 pounds more than Oakland's rookie quarterback. "He looks funny, doesn't he," defensive end Derrick Burgess said. "Looks good though. I like what he did for himself. That should add about six more sacks to it I bet." http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6782042

Don't Count the Colts Out Just Yet by Adam Schein for FoxSports The off-season headlines show the Patriots as clear winners.
And I firmly believe they are.

The Super Bowl odds have shifted in New England's favor.

And they should.

But somewhere in his Indianapolis office, you can imagine Bill Polian sitting back and smiling. You can imagine the voice doing his inner-monologue belting out devilish chuckle, followed by the sentence, "We have them right where we want them."

Make no mistake — Polian, drafting at the bottom of every round after winning the Super Bowl, had another great draft.

Class of 2008 - John Murphy, Yahoo Sports

It was just about a week ago when everyone waited in anticipation for the outcome of the 2007 NFL draft. Can it be too soon to look ahead to the next crop of talented college football players who will make up the Class of 2008?

The answer is a resounding no. Any personnel evaluator worthy of holding that title will tell you that every team in the league was well aware of potential candidates for next year while making their choices last weekend.

Our in-depth coverage and evaluation of these prospects will kick off next month. We'll review how they fared this spring as area scouts roamed the country to get updated size and workout numbers. But for now, here is a quick preview at some of the more interesting senior players who could become household names over the next 11 months.

KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP) -- Shaun Alexander might still have a broken foot, something he doesn't want confirmed just yet.

The Seattle Seahawks' star running back said Monday his left foot, broken for the final four months of last season, may still be cracked as he begins the 2007 preseason.

The 2005 NFL MVP doesn't want to know for sure until after his team's veteran minicamp ends Thursday.

"I don't even want to get another X-ray until after this camp," a smiling Alexander said after his fourth consecutive day of occasionally carrying the ball during no-contact, no-pads drills. "If the X-ray shows it's still cracked, it's like, 'OK. What does that mean?"'
