Ricky Williams, why is anyone bothering with him?  Sheesh.

And HI Level.  I agree, the writing is on the wall for Faneca, it's a shame in a way, but it's the business.  The Steelers will not pay outrageous for anyone.  Hines Ward was a holdout a few seasons ago, and he got his, but I think only because they felt they were fairly compensating him.

A former Steelers linebacker accused of pimping was jailed in Pittsburgh on Friday on a fugitive warrant issued in Nevada.

On the eve of his appeal to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Adam "Pacman" Jones probably should avoid what he did the last time he was in New York for the meeting that led to his one-year suspension.
Jones went to a strip club, sources close to the league, the NFL Players Association and Jones have confirmed.

I heard he had TWO prostitutes, on the radio the following comment was made:  "that's not a prostitution ring; that's a party!"

Longtime star lineman Alan Faneca says he is through negotiating with the Pittsburgh Steelers, pushing them again to trade him and promising he won't play for them past this season.

Wow Katy. This will really hurt your Steelers next year. He's a crucial member of your O line. His boots will be hard to fill.  Let's hope Rooney and Tomlin are evaluating the FA market for next year. You need more than a rookie to re place Faneca.

He no longer wants to be a team captain.  I think he's much more upset over other things (coaching changes) than his pay.
It's good football drama but it's going to turn into a huge distraction.
He should receive in the top of his position, as far as salary, in my opinion.  But the Steelers are picky about who gets the big bucks.

I felt the same way last year about Dien Branch. As much as I hated losing him, the trade to the Seahawks avoided the distraction that would have lasted the whole season. I personally would have paid the man the money. Same thing with Faneca. He deserves it.

IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Terrell Owens once again caught some of his Dallas Cowboys teammates and coaches off guard.

But instead of stirring controversy off the field, Owens surprised them by participating in the team's first minicamp.

Pats keep door open for Seau
Thursday, May 10, 2007 11:57 am EDT

If the New England Patriots are looking to add to their linebacker corps, veteran Junior Seau remains a possibility.
Seau's locker remains intact at Gillette Stadium, a sign that Seau has not been forgotten. At the same time, the Patriots kept the locker of veteran Roman Phifer intact a few years ago and Phifer, then a free agent, never returned.

Seau, who remains a free agent, has been recovering from a broken arm sustained last November.

Favre asked to be traded - FOX Sports

The man who may have the biggest name in Green Bay sports history has asked to be traded.
Several Packers and league sources have told FOXSports.com that Brett Favre's agent Bus Cook phoned Green Bay's general manager Ted Thompson within two to three days of the draft and asked for a trade. The sources said that Cook railed off how his client was fed up with the organization and wanted out.

The shocking request appeared directly related to the team's inability to trade for WR Randy Moss

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (5/13/2007 11:08:56 AM)

Things must be bad in Green Bay.  I thought that Favre would like to retire a Packer.  He's always talked with admiration about his respect for the tradition that is Green Bay, wow.

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (5/13/2007 9:14:54 PM)

There was an article today that Seau will be coming back this season on another one year deal. It was on AOL via a Cali newspaper. I wasn't excited last year when we signed him, but I was very impressed with him once he got on the field and his leadership persona.

The Farve article... I am a bit surprised at that one. I never liked him, tho, always a bit too prima dona-ish for me. And way too much drama>>>  will I retire or won't I retire.. stay tuned.[:'(]

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (5/14/2007 4:41:09 AM)

sigh
Brett is a prima donna, but I don't blame him for this.
I blame the media and John Madden's man crush for creating this monster.
I also tire of the will he or won't he retire every freaking year.
But he still retains some level of southern cuteness!

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (5/14/2007 5:02:33 AM)

He is kinda cute in that southern woodsy way. I do understand his frustration level, he hasn't had any decent recievers in a long time, not RBs for that matter. I'm thinking if he was that unsatisfied he should have asked for the trade before Moss chose to go to NE. Moss would not have been GB's savior and ticket to the SB < IMO>, but he may have been Farve's ticket to Stat Heaven.

Favre imagined a 3 wideout set, with Donald Driver and Moss and some other guy, making it much harder to shut down the offense, and he felt the defense was solid enough to allow them to contend.

Prima donna in a a good ol' boy way, maybe lol, but he's a favorite of mine; tough as nails, and talented.

Oh, let's give a hurrah for John Madden, just cause he deserves it. Man, I wish he would coach again.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (5/14/2007 11:10:45 AM)

"I want to finish my career as a Packer."   "Sometimes when I get frustrated, I let my emotions get the better of me,"
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/nfl/05/14/bc.fbn.packers.favrefal.ap/index.html

I did hear an interview where Favre says he knows the Packers could've had Moss, and that Moss was interested and the deal would've paid Moss less than what the Pats got him for.

HBO Special  about long lasting football injuries.

http://www.scrippsnews.com/node/22630

I have heard Ted Johnson speak out on the whole concussion controversy, and I do believe there needs to be better policies, medical care etc. But Ted is a little whacky, I'm not so sure it is all from his concussions tho, he is a self admitted drug addict and IMVHO, he has a few psych problems.

None the less I will be tuning in, I think it is an important issue. As I said last season, I think Big Ben's perfomance was due to him being rushed back to the huddle despite his injuries.
