I know that the email and message boards are considered a rather casual means of communication and the rules of proper writing are thrown out in the interest of speed and convenience. But, I find it very disconcerting when I look at some profiles on this site and others of people who consider themselves dominant but seem to write on an elementary school level. Loaded with spelling and grammar mistakes and online terminology better suited for the profiles stay up there for long periods of time without ever being corrected.

I don't mean to bad mouth anyone. It's a question of trust for me. I simply refuse to put my well-being and very life in the hands of someone who doesn't (for whatever reason) take the time to proof read the profile before posting it. We all have word processors with spell check nowadays so, there’s no reason for spelling errers. Those words are what represent you to the rest of the world and are usually the first impression any potential submissive will have of you. My point is, if you make those kinds of mistakes and have such a lack of concern, even in something as seemingly trivial as an email or a profile, then how do I know that you won't make those same types of mistakes once I am helpless and at your mercy? I wonder who would give themselves to someone of that ilk.

No one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. But, if you really expect anyone to take you seriously as a Master, Mistress, Goddess or anything like that, then shouldn't you take great care in how you present yourself? I expect a master/mistress to be very much in control, have a great attention to detail and always know exactly what he or she wants at all times or, at the very least, know how to project that image.

There are a great many profiles that are well thought out, well written, expressive and a pleasure just to read. The others, I can only assume, are posers, lazy and... well... not qualified (to put it nicely), in which case it's probably good that they show their true colors right from the start and don’t end up hurting someone.

This applies to submissive types as well. Have the respect for the one you wish to serve by putting time and effort into your profile and communications.

I guess I'm not posing a question really just curious as to what others think. I would also like to say kudos to those who take pride in their work and in themselves.

It bothers me only if it is really, really bad. I can spell perfectly but am a terrible typist. I look at it but not with a fine tooth comb.

I sit here and recall all the horrible mutilations of grammar and Geoffrey Chaucer's
'Englishe as she is goodlye spokene' and wonder why this cataclysmic warning has never been posted in health and safety before, when it is terribly apparent to anyone how dire the situation is.

I had better things to worry about growing up then going to school wondering if dear old dad was in a good loving abusive mood or a evil wicked hate your guts kinda mood sorry if my grammer is'nt up to standards no I dont puncutuate sorry if that offends others just a simple country hick stupid girl I guess

I'll be brave and respond to your outlook, but be kind to Me if I'm not the Grammar King of Lower Slobovia.
I'm a hunt 'n' peck typist, I have two longterm slaves, both collared realtime for several years, I really don't have the spare time to use the Spellcheck thingy, or even edit for dropped suntax, major doses of digression, nor puncuatation (sic?)
It is a casual method of communicating; others intellects, wit, ability to breath and go poopie without My needing to micromanage them, and I'm opinionated about body forms on My property or someone that, I maybe seriously interested and/or courting.
My opinion is important to Me, but others have questioned why, I would collar a girl with small breast, why collar a girl that's"that" old, why collar a girl with large breast, even breast that sag dramaticially? All these questions from self-proclaimed "masters, etc" that are sans property shows Me the depth of their real experience and I most often defend My opinions of My property's body form in such a manner that they begin to wonder if the rabid old Man standing in their faces is going to punish them beyond chastisement for being stupid in His presence and causing His girls to recall sorrier times when they had been beaten into in a state of near existence.
I know that My method of writing causes some confuzzlement amongst the under-educated and those that should be able too elicit some tolerance for those of us that type from our hearts, but must remain bent over and intent on where the keys are and which worn ones are what.
Also, I'm 'puter challenged, on an extended vacation where, I'm visiting My kin, close friends and making beaucoup new ones.
I've discovered the ideal hacienda for Me and Mine in a rural area of SE middle-Georgia. Two thousnad square frrt inside when counting the huge loft, another thousnad plus of a custom built deck that quarters three sides of the cabin,lots of wildlife, NO HUNTIN' ALLOWED" by joint decision of the membership of Viking House, a deep well, waking up to witness grazing horses stepping out of a mornin' misting of fog, our companions are able to run and I can sit on the deck and watch them until they disappear into the tree stands. lol
Rustic, but modern, and adjoining the ranch of a really close friend. NOW, that's digression. lmao

Grammar and spelling doesn't bother me, too much. Since, being dyslexic, I tend to have re-read almost everything I write (for example, "Grammra and spelling doens't bohter em, too muhc" was the original way I spelled it, for me h's are a little hard for me to see), however, I am thinking that the lazy way of using "comp-speak" denotes a lack of care.

"how r u" "asl" "u dom"

If someone really wishes to ask me what I am, how I am or where I am from, perhaps having the respect to spell out the words, however bad, maybe a start.

As to it being a safety issue, well, lets be honest, outside of us 25% adults that actually read beyond a grade 4 level (above most mainstream newspapers, or did you know THAT?), I can't fault anyone TRYING and won't judge them on it

All this being said, I use "LOL" way too often, I have terrible spelling and I'm a proffessional writer. Go figure?

In some ways I agree...its not that hard to go over what you have written and check that it's right. I do that and sometimes still misspell words...(pedifiles when I meant pedophiles...I'm only human.).

I can see no reason why a profile should have spelling errors,even with Dislexia
if you try you can do it,have a friend to check it if need be.I am however guilty of it too which is why I try to check every once in awhile to make sure I havent missed anything.

When posting people sometimes get heated and dont bother to check spelling...I can understand that and it doesnt bother Me.An Opening Post should not have any spelling mistakes,take your time to get your point across...again I'm only human,We cant all be perfect all the time.

First time to post:

Hello Everyone,

I have to admit that if I come across a Dom’s profile and there are major misspelling and grammar mistakes, I disregard that profile. I guess I feel a Dom should be a better speller than me. Silly I know, but it’s a first impression thing.

Also, what I do is type what I want to say in Word and then copy and paste it. That way I can run a spell check. Without spell check I’m useless.

I will say this, a misspelled profile annoying as it is, is still better than one that only lists the Dom’s stats

Now THAT'S funny. Course I have to admit, I'm a bit of a grammar nazi. Can't help it, but I try very hard to keep it to myself. I only correct IF someone asks me to; otherwise, it's my problem, not the poster's. If I can understand the point, I'm good; otherwise, I just skip it.

Just a "what if" question- What if the Dom did use spell check/word and her profile is error free Perfect! Perhaps in all of your correspondence with her - continued to use both of these. Again all perfectThen there came a day you are right there with her- she is writing some thing by hand and the spelling is terrible grammar is worst than ever.What then? would you think perhaps she was "faking" her 1st impression?She really sucks in spelling/ grammar doesn't write at all like you thought she did.
