Yep!

Archer -> RE: Ask a Master...isn't that a man? (11/5/2006 8:25:22 AM)

Bottom line as to why is as simple as examining the everyday things.

If you have a Q&A board for "Ask the Policeman" it would by default be gender neutral for the most part.
If you have a Q&A board for "Ask the Police woman" it would be gender focused.
Why because socially the male identity form of the noun is also the default general collective term in the English language.

xBullx -> RE: Ask a Master...isn't that a man? (11/5/2006 8:28:28 AM)

Greetings,

I love reading in a good number of the various forums, I don't comment often outside of the gorean one do to the animosity felt towards goreans, it's ok, you don't have to like me. But, I waited for a man to post before I did as well; I didn't want this to become a Gorean versus BDSM issue. I'm glad I did. I don't believe that the woman's intent was to criticize anyone; it seemed like a legitimate question for someone of her background. This very question was actually brought up in a neutral chat room and I would like to thank Archer for a very good response. It has straightened out the issue some for me. I'm curious only as to why a Lesbian would want to use a typically male term such as master, even if she was rather masculine. I have been lead to believe that most are fulfilled in the female plumbing even if they don't like the contrasts in thread types. I love using labor specific terms. lol. Of course anyone is free to post anywhere within the forums, I don't believe that the Gorean woman was attempting to lead this there. I think she was hitting on a point about why would a Domme feel a need to comment as to the questions directed to men. Thanks to Archers explanation that went beyond the because we want to answer I for one have been enlightened to different ways of thinking, Thanks again friend! Redsavageslave, I also appreciate your comment.

Live well,

Bull

Another -> RE: Ask a Master...isn't that a man? (11/5/2006 8:29:43 AM)

My question for you another, is it because of a Gorean mindset that you have trouble with the concept of women posting in a "man's" forum?

Just curious

curious,

The concept I have trouble with is why a woman would want to post here, commenting to a question that WAS/IS being directed towards men.  I hope this satisfies your curiousity.   And of course, I have several answers to my question, because you can.  Guess that is as good as it will get.

I wish you well.

Perhaps with your own attitude on display ... "because we can" ...is all the response your postings have deserved.

carolsea -> RE: Ask a Master...isn't that a man? (11/5/2006 8:39:41 AM)

I just don't understand why it matters to anyone in particular where we post. I'd say "most" of us have other more monumental things to wonder about!  :-)

juliaoceania -> RE: Ask a Master...isn't that a man? (11/5/2006 8:40:41 AM)

I have to ask if you read my post or anyone else's post on this thread.... I personally answered with 5 different reasons as to why I would post here, you only quoted the last one. I fail to understand why the hostility to my question when I was so open about answering yours.  BTW, I am not a domme, and you yourself stated that you understood why subs/slaves would post here.

I have often posted to dominants in this forum and learned from them on various topics, perhaps if you read a variety of forums with an open mind you may also learn more, contribute when the spirit moved you to in the form of a question or an answer or an idea... I find it rather odd that you would care about what happens in forums that you purport not to care about...

I find it also rather odd that you live such a cloistered online forum life that you would be perplexed that others would seek conversation to foster understanding... but hey, I don't post in the Gorean forum because I cannot learn anything from you about my submission...

BTW, I enjoyed the few Gor books I have read, but prefer Wheel of Time series and LOTRs as far as fantasy lit goes.. higher ideals in them and they are better written... Tal Tal!

xBullx -> RE: Ask a Master...isn't that a man? (11/5/2006 8:50:30 AM)

Tal,

And wow, a condisending view from someone that is to good to learn anything from the likes of a Gorean. I credit the Woman of Gor for having the nads to address an issue where she surely must have known the popular context of the dialogue would be to assault her beliefs while they claim all should accept their own.

Interested,

Bull

juliaoceania -> RE: Ask a Master...isn't that a man? (11/5/2006 8:51:59 AM)

No, I said I have nothing to learn about my submission by contributing to the forum, I have read it. I would never flame people there for what they practice or how they act...

edited to add, my opinion on fantasy lit is not an insult, it is an opinion of which books I find to be worthwhile, I actually would like to read the whole Gor series as the few books I have read from it were much fun to read

MsKatHouston -> RE: Ask a Master...isn't that a man? (11/5/2006 8:52:44 AM)

You do realize we have a ton of male doms who respond in "Ask a Mistress" too, right?  It's rare that anyone has a problem with it.  People reply to posts in many different forums.  The sections are general guidelines for a focused response but that does not necessarily mean the OP would not want a variety of responses.  A lot of times the OP in Ask a Mistress does so only because they want a dominant response and they are more used to the female dom perspective.  Same goes for those who post in Ask a Master.  It may be just what they are used to but could welcome many different responses.

Personally, I reply to posts where I have something to contribute, have experience in the matter or interest me.  I don't care where those posts were started, nor do most of the people who start the threads or contribute to them.

MstrJohnJ -> RE: Ask a Master...isn't that a man? (11/5/2006 8:54:37 AM)

I feel compelled to stick in my .02 ...
Personally, I read all the forums here simply because you never know where you'll find your next inspiration.
If I feel that my comments will keep a discussion going or if I want to just tell someone that their post is beneficial to me, I'll post.
I'm not Gorean, tho I have read the books and have friends who are Gorean and I do post in the Gorean forum.
I'm not a Domme, but I do read those posts.
I am not a sub nor a switch, but I have found those threads to be absolutely interesting and very helpful.

So from my point of view, if you have something to offer, then post

John

Archer -> RE: Ask a Master...isn't that a man? (11/5/2006 8:54:41 AM)

Now just as an exercise in stretching the idea to it's limits. (I love doing this) lets see for the forums we will need a few more catagories.

Ask the Male Dominant
Ask the Female Dominant
Ask the Master
Ask the Mistress
Ask the male slave
Ask the female slave
Ask the male submissive
Ask the female submissive
Ask the Gorean Master
Ask the Gorean Mistress
Ask the Leather Master
Ask the Leather Mistress
Tell the gorean slave, (LOL had to make the one jab all in good fun)

The message overall is if we split them all out into their seperate sections some folks would be really happy that they could then just gather the information most directly related to their view. But if you look at reality, how much information and how many ideas have already crossed the boundries to be used by those in other styles/ formats? Tons of it. I know many a Leather Master who read the Gorean books back when they first came out and found things, ideas etc, that they have canabalized and redressed as Leather. Funny thing is I have always wondered at the fact that so many Leather customs of the Old Guard were reflected in the Gorean books to begin with. Which came first the ishan or the egg.

edited to add...If you don't like it, then leave.  I'm in a bad mood today folks.  Sorry.

Aileen, is it time for a cookie?

And, to add a room that Archer somehow missed......

The 'Ask the assholes' forum.  Now THAT one would indeed be the most crowded, with the best spirited debates.

I can't learn from her... true.. she is a free Gorean woman... I am a submissive female without any tradition to guide me. What can she tell me about my submission? If she has perspectives to offer I would hope she would go to the submissive forum and offer them, perhaps I am mistaken. I do enjoy learning from Goreans... it is why I read the forum on occasion, although new posts are far and few between when compared with the general forum. I never post there because I have nothing to offer, if I did I would post there.

I certainly would not post there and question the validity of other posters, this is true, it just is not my place. I do find it slightly offensive that someone would do that to be honest. It is a "flame" of the dommes on this board who post here. I maybe jumping to conclusions, but I tend to think she posted an attack on dommes in this forum because of how Goreans view dommes, perhaps that assumption was incorrect, who knows. I find that to be very rude... but that is just my opinion

And the subject will be closed when my Daddy tells me it is, he is the only one with veto power on my postings.. another tradition we do not follow that is yours, random men cannot order me around... peace!

You forgot the male and female switches and the men and women looking for rough sex ;)

As for the topic on hand:

If we feel the need to contribute our opinions, thoughts, and stories to a thread, we'll post there.
I don't need someone telling me that I can't post here because I happen to have a vagina.
So what?
If I have something to add, I'll add it.

Well, some want to become men, as they feel that they were "wrongfully" birthed as a female.
They usually are classified as "Transvestites", as they cross-dress and do all the necessary things it'd take to be a man (without the plumbing).

Some go farther and get hormone treatments which lets them grow mustaches, get a bit stockier, etc.

So most of these women, feel they are men, and classify themselves as such.
Hence why they'd call themselves a Master or Daddy.
