I dont remember saying that I believed everyone should use the term.  If, in the eyes of your pet you are a Goddess, than refering to yourself as such is fine.  Expecting someone else who ISNT yours to refer to you that way... well... is silly.  Thats like becasue I am a karate instructor that I want people outside my school to call me Sensei. Id get laughed at.
Thinking about this, whats wrong with putting out there initialy that you expect your sub to view you this way, if thats what you want?  We have so many forums where subs are asking what is expected of them when they read profiles.  Someone presenting themselves that way is really taking the question out of what is expected.  If you wish t serve, you wil be expcted to worship.  Easy. Then, if someone doesnt believe that service should amount to worship, they know to steer clear.

How often do we see a man using God as his title.  (now they may act like it, but they aren't as embolden to use it).

Honestly, there is only one that I know of personally.

Every title will be off-putting to some people.

Personally, I think Goddess is nicer than Princess/Queen, but similar.

I am a little annoyed when people use a title and aren't deserving of it. (We all know of the typical case where a guy calls himself a Master without knowing anything...) But I think most people are using an appropriate title.

If people want to roll their eyes and close the window when they see that title used, that's their right.

I dont draw any conclusions about it at all.

It can be so many things to so many people:

some folks relate to goddess as it pertains to wiccan and paganism.

some folks see the goddess culture as a badge of female supremacy.

some folks describe themselves as goddesses to denote that they have the same body type as similar to the goddess figure of Mesopotamian times

some folks see it as achieving an excellence in what they do such as a master carpenter: sewing goddess, clay goddess.

some folks are healing are wanting to touch base with the part of them that is a strong powerful female.

I totally agree with all of this...
My boy calls me his Goddess because he practices Wicca.  To him I am 100% female and beautiful and worthy of the title.  I don't use the term to describe Myself.  I am simply a Dominant Woman.  The honorifics; Mistress, Ma'am, Domina, My Lady etc are terms of respect used by submissives.  However only one boy is allowed to call me Mistress, as I am his owner...he begged my collar and I awarded it to him.
And by the way, I don't consider myself any more important than My boy, or his superior.  We are equals, but in play time I am the Top and he the bottom.  Just because he likes pain and I love to give it...doesn't mean he is any less than me.  We wouldn't have it any other way.

Just as an afterthought...
I have read a great book by Mistress Lorelei called The Mistress Manual, and in it are five archetypal fantasies she lists as popular in D/s and BDSM among Female Dominants and their submissives...  They are: Nursemaid, Governess, Queen, Amazon, or Goddess.
Out of all five I find myself to be a mixture of the latter three.  Does that make me insecure or inexperienced?  No, it means I know who I am and what I want.

I've been called Goddess before.  It referred to being worshipped, adored and guided by.  The gentleman felt I was his salvation.  While this offended my Christian root senses at first, I came to understand that for him, I was his salvation.  I gave him my blessing, I listened to and guided him in every good way.  For me, Goddess wasn't a power trip, it was a responsibility trip!      To each their own.

MistressDolly,

Thank you for posting exactly what I've been thinking as I've read this thread.

On other places on the 'net I use the name of a Goddess. When I chose it I wanted 3 things - a name that was short and easy to type, and one that would honor the Goddess. (Although she goes by different names in different places, I see her as one.)

I was going to type more, but you said everything I wanted to say in just two sentences.

Whether she declares it boldly or acknowledges it in silent humility,  in my eyes, every woman is a Goddess in some way, shape or form.

But who cares if a women call herself "Goddess".  They have their reasons - -  <snip>

Who am I to judge?

A lot of younger women use I am a Goddess.  What is your impression when you see this?

I like it actually.  It relieves me of the responsability to talk.
