A lot of younger women use I am a Goddess.  What is your impression when you see this?

mnottertail -> RE: Goddess (11/7/2006 8:44:13 AM)

Pretty fuckin' healthy egos...........

Doesn't lead me to any further thought, most of the time, tho.

I actually think.... insecurity that is desperately being covered up with alot of "in your face" look at me. I could be wrong but I think I have a clue about young women.

I just chuckle to myself and know that life will usually end up taking most of the starch out of that and some will end up being really amazing women and others......they won't ever get it and life will be hard for them.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Goddess (11/7/2006 8:49:00 AM)

The same thing I think when I see tons of subs saying "I am not a doormat!"

They are worried that they aren't strong, or may be perceived as not strong, so they have to announce just how strong they are.

It's also a new trend in feminism to capture your female power by associating with "a goddess" and feel an attachment to the eternal power flowing in life.  Since males have so long used "god" and "gods way" as a way to enforce their rule in the world, women can use the "goddess way" to counteract that.

Like all trends, it has its good points and bad points.  Embracing ones eternity and source of energy is generally something I support.  But announcing it to others as if it should mean something to them states more like a dom saying "Call me Sir wench!" than simply being connected to your universe.

And it's often a sign that someone is a female supremacist.

canupleaseme -> RE: Goddess (11/7/2006 8:51:49 AM)

I never ever thought of using the term godess for myself becasue im not one and dont feel like one. lol ithink its a cute name and just one that people use if they dont like mistress. I find it so confusing all the different terms for different things. In fact when i am with my partner i giggle when he calls me mistress and i hate callin him my sub/slave  i usually refer to him as my boy if im talkin about him on here or in a bdsm way but mainly we call each other by our names unless i feel like havin him call me something and then its mistress.Hearing the word godess or seeing people called that on here doesnt make me thik anything really just my two peneth

Wow....how did you read my mind? The only thing I would disagree with is that I don't think it is exclusive to only the young.

Dnomyar -> RE: Goddess (11/7/2006 8:55:17 AM)

I havent seen a man use the term God before his name on here. But I underestand what you mean.

canupleaseme -> RE: Goddess (11/7/2006 8:59:27 AM)

Its funny becasue if i saw a mans screen name as god or whatever i would think that was slightly  ostentatious  lol

Someone that needs a hole poked in their ego balloon or someone who has spent or is spending too much time in cyber land.

A more serious answer, whenever I see words like this or similar from men/women and dom/sub I often wonder if they will ever find happiness taking this to real life with that type of dream in their head or have they had troubles in real life and have gone to cyber land to build themselves up. I just am suspicious of their commitment to reality and persepctive.

CandleInTheWind -> RE: Goddess (11/7/2006 9:04:02 AM)

if you read my profile  I have issues with it.... I realize that for some its just a title like any other...,but there are actually those that actually believe that they are living goddeses....and well since i have a religious belief that this offends well... I find it offensive!!

and well as far as the so called fmale supremacists...Im sorry but well I am a humanist...I do not feel  that any particular sex or  color makes anyone else superior.... only those that have proven themselves to be better at things is superior...and then only in what they have proven themselves to be better at!!   as an example....I am  the worst computer illiterate...so there for my children are far superior to me IN COMPUTERIZATION MATTERS  ONLY!!  when it comes to money management... I am far superior to MY formery hubby..... and he calls me little red, waver of the almight magic wand, queen of the check bok!

liks2plzlf -> RE: Goddess (11/7/2006 9:28:47 AM)

I think it shows extreme confidence.Or in many cases, extreme overconfidence. There are a number of women on CM that I consider a Goddess, but not because of looks, or age, but the way they present themselves in their profiles, or more importantly in there posts. I think any woman I would enter into a TPE with, is  a Goddess in my eyes.

It just means ''girl'' ''lady'' or ''woman'' to me.  I love girls, so how ever they decide to endear themselves is great. Conversely, I am bothered when they use identifiable terms which are demeaning.

crazy C    awsome...LOL

CrazyC -> RE: Goddess (11/7/2006 9:37:16 AM)

my faith is why i concider myself a Goddess, and i am a sub.

And on here, i always looked at those who called themselves Goddess as just their way of wanting to approch their Domme. Maybe being called Mistress doesn't do it for them?

(edited because writing a school paper has made me unable to type.)

MstrssPassion -> RE: Goddess (11/7/2006 9:40:09 AM)

I won't say it is true of every person who uses this term but in most cases these people to be overly pretentious, omnipotently minded, self-absorbed women who is far too full of themselves.

I have to admit that my knee-jerk reaction is to laugh, shake my head, and dismiss them as stuck-up snobs.  Just like I did with prissy cheerleaders when I was in school.  If you have to proclaim that you're "all that" then you're not.

I'd love to hear from some of the Goddesses on this thread.  [sm=smile.gif]

crouchingtigress -> RE: Goddess (11/7/2006 10:02:57 AM)

I dont draw any conclusions about it at all.

It can be so many things to so many people:

some folks relate to goddess as it pertains to wiccan and paganism.

some folks see the goddess culture as a badge of female supremacy.

some folks describe themselves as goddesses to denote that they have the same body type as similar to the goddess figure of Mesopotamian times

some folks see it as achieving an excellence in what they do such as a master carpenter: sewing goddess, clay goddess.

some folks are healing are wanting to touch base with the part of them that is a strong powerful female.
