Welcome to California.

Now go home.

Sinergy

I've been and gone home. The place is far too anal. I guess that's why there are so many American refugees in Amsterdam, they love the tolerance and freedom of the place.

The Dutch probably did not want you there.

The surf dweebs I spent most of my childhood getting stoned and glassing surfboards definitely did not want you there.

I would say that if you do not like where you are, perhaps you should go somewhere else.

But the line from Buckaroo Banzai keeps coming back to me; "No matter where you go, there you are."

Perhaps it is not the place you go that upsets you?

i started smokeing at the age of ten i quit about 2 years ago when i was pregnet with my son ....smokeing is an adiction and very hard to stop even now i know that if i where to have one puff i would not be able vto stop that is why i dont have that one puff . in most indoor places such as resteronts they can have and have before made acomadations for smokers outside the chances of someones cig smoke couseing you to get cancer is very unlikely given the ventalation off the wide open air outside and there is a mater of cival rights but i can more than understand and sympathis with non smokers who just would like to eat a meal have a drink or watch a show without being submerged in a smoke filled room exp. ones with asthma . so these places should make acomedations for both smokers and non smokers not out law smokeing. as for the thing about the vaccinitaions i have heard some about that but dont see what it has to do with smokeing . anyway i beleive that smokers should have the right to watch a movie go to the bar and eat at a resterant and smoke BUT NOT AT THE DISCOMFORT OR AT THE EXSPENCE OF NON SMOKERS. yes you have the right to smoke and should have acomadations so that you can ...but non smokers do have the right to breath fresh unpoluted air that does not make them gag there use to be mutual respect for people .

Wow, now we're talking about Mexicans ? Well I did say feel free to join in.

Chico is a Mexican who lives here legally, supports himself and speaks English.

Now that we've gotten into all kinds of shit here, I'l say that I wouldn't want him to marry my daughter. But this is not out of disrespect, after all he did exactly what my ancestors did when they got here. I just don't want to thin out the European bloodline.

I can't even much fault Mexicans who are illegal, if they work. But when they work illegally they are allowing greedy American capitalists to gouge the public for full price labor and pocket the difference. I wish I had that story handy about the "other" INS, the ones who went to pick up trash near a construction site. The time that most of them blew town and the owner was really pissed. If I read it correctly they were building upscale homes, not adobe shacks. I don't know about you, but if I were to buy a half million dollar house I would like it built right. To US standards. Mexicans may or may not be doing the job right, but the key phrase is "or may not". Maybe my half million should come with a disclaimer, "or may not".

People who lay bricks are supposed to be making close to $30 an hour, and the guys who mix the mortar and bring them the materials are supposed to be making close to $20. The job is quoted on that basis. On  bigger jobs there is quite a potential for some under the table money. Ghost employees are easy, they keep you out of the limelight and help the corporate tax situation.

Of course an "honest" employer of illegals might pass the savings on to the customer, but that is neck and neck with the odds of Sants Claus personally opening your letter.

When illegals are assholes I have a problem, when they try to get gangs together and take over the streets I have a problem with that too. But if they're down in Georgia picking cotton or something I only have a little problem. Yes a problem, but alot smaller.

What they do when they come here and work cheap is to upset the balance of supply and demand in the labor market. Any increase in the minimum wage benefits them because they can take more of the available jobs because they will work for less. Four of them can live in a two bedroom, amd probably only make $600 a week all put together, and not only probably have it better than they ever have, actually have extra money to send home.

Some European immigrants did the same thing, the difference is that they were here legally, learned the language and didn't try to take over the street, well for the most part.

Europe was in bad shape and tyrannical governments were installed in alot of coutries after WW2. Coming here was the cat's ass. With the industrial growth here and the seemingly endless demand for labor, the US was the place to be. Look at it now. Illegals come here to live in ghettos and barios, whatever, which are slums for the most part. Makes you wonder what they are coming FROM. The people who exploit the people are probably doing quite well down there.

So what did they move into ? Possibly seven will move into a three or four bedroom. ?Sometimes they are related and send the extra money back to Mom. Or possibly they are here for the dolche vita. Doesn't matter.

See there is a cure for all this but people won't do it. Best iterated by Chris Rock in "Feel the Pain", "STOP FUCKING ". People who live in places where the infrastructure and ecomony cannot support them should not have six kids. This should be instinct for Pete's sake.I have other theories on that, more sinister than that which I have ever mentioned here. I'll start another thread on it. Whacked out, yes. Possibly true ? also yes. It is beyong the scope of this ,,,,,,, thinking of the tanget we are already on here LOL.

OK, not going into that, but the stop fucking theory doesn't work. The human body is ready to reproduce at a certain age and the desires shall come forth. In the other thread I will address how it seems to be happening younger, and also the fact that is really isn't. But this is now.

The kids will not stop fucking, that is a fact. Yes by the time they're 20 and have six kids they learn, but it is too late. Then we have kids raised by kids. That is in Mexico too. Our country is alot bigger and actually has less problems accomodating them, but why should we. Every country has a quota, stick with the quota.

Get the imbalance caused by them to the labor/management equation fixed and you might see places where MickeyDees is hiring at $12 an hour. People won't give a shit about the minimum wage.

Hmmm, I just woke up, I guess I was dreaming. Did I type all that ? That shit ain't never gonna happen.

Actually in farming when reaping time comes, you might have a problem getting enough people because to want this stuff picked, now. I mean veggies, stuff like that, of course grain is alot easier to handle with a modern combine. Certain types of produce still get hand picked. So I wouldm't be totally against like a migrant worker program, if needed. But they should just as easily be able to go into poor neighborhoods and put up a few signs. There are people who want work everywhere, of course they would have to travel, even if the comany sends a bus.

From what I understand, there were plenty of good Men, strong, willing and able to work as they brought the slaves in. Boils down to the same thing, the struggle between labor and management, or even government and People. One thing seems constant though, the consternation and other bullshit is usually caused by the one in the superior position.

Thus my saying : Compliance is futile, you must resist.

Yes you may have heard it elsewhere but I did write it. I can prove it on two usenet newsgroups, and I am talking a long time ago. Usenet postings are archived so I can indeed peove it. The intenet address that FIRST posted it anywhere is associated with me, my name, address and all that. I realize that this compromises my anonymity, but I don't really care. I am who I am. I'm not scared of anyone and I don't think anyone aroung here wants to come and shoot me for what I write.

If you find that first post, believe it or not that email is still active, but I don't use it anymore.

Anyway, I guess this is rant part ??, and looking at the scroll bar I see it is 5 times as long as I wanted it, as usual. So I figured what I would do is to go to IRC and

I am in that bar.  I want to breathe smoke free air.

Please dont come back with the idiotic idea that I could go to a different bar where smoking is not allowed, since the law basically stipulates that people should go smoke somewhere where their smoke will not offend other people.  You want to smoke.  Stay home and smoke.  Or keep your smoke in a baggie around your head so I dont have to breath it.

The other issue is that all of the employees in the bar are being subjected to your smoke.  They dont have a choice.  They work there.

I dont care what you do.  But making me breathe your smoke is a non-consensual kink you are inflicting on the rest of us.  It is rather shocking to me that people in this lifestyle would be so up in arms about non-consensually inflicting their proclivities on people who may not be in to the same thing.

Just me, etc.

Sinergy,

Are you honestly saying that smokers should not be afforded some smoking establishments where they could also go out and enjoy themselves....amongst other smokers....which would not infringe on any non smokers (unless a non smoker, with all his choices of non smoking bars, chooses to go into the smoking bar, of course)?

This is what i had mentioned earlier too.  And even if accomodations cannot be made within the same building, at least allow a few other bars/restaurants to be smoking facilities where smokers can go with like minded people.  In agreement with you,  what i am proposing is not forcing non smokers to be around smokers, but just giving both viable options so that all can keep their freedoms.

That is often how it works with allergies.

No one should be around a poison, nicotine is a poison, and a poison that is used in herbicides. So technically the immune system is not having a faux reaction to cigarette smoke, because in an allergic reaction the body recognizes foriegn substances as pathogens it needs to attack, in the case of cigarettes, the smoke is pathogenic and therefore when people have a bad reaction to it this is because their body is responding correctly to the stimulus of the smoke. Allergies are an overreaction of the body in response to a non-harmful trigger.

I would not mind that at all.

My only point is that most smokers I have met seem to think the world is their ashtray.  Pontificating endlessly about ending pollution while they throw their cigarette butt in the street and blow toxic gas in my face.

The law states they cannot smoke in bars in the state of California.  Dont like the law, get it changed.

True Julia, I was commenting on her comment about allergies in general, not smoke in specific. You can use a medication three times and break out in hives on the fourth try.  You can have repeated exposure to something and have no symptoms then one day have hives.  This is how it was explained to me when I had a severe case of hives from an antiobiotic I was on, although I'd taken it other times with no difficulty.

This sounds rather like car drivers, people who use airconditioning and excessive heating to me.

Where I don't give a monkey's fuck about laws in California I do care about the poisoning of the planet so I won't be preached about pollution by people who use either because they're just fucking hypocrites.

Don't you see the irony of American's that rant on about pollution caused by smokers while they are busy polluting the whole fucking planet? Producing 25% of the worlds greenhouse gases while only having 5% of the world's population, now that is polluting!

My theory is that Americans rant on about tobacco pollution because it allows them feel good about themselves and makes them feel like they are doing something about the shit they leave the rest of the world to deal with while they feel saintly in their pulpit.

Jeez, spare the world from puritans.

meatcleaver -> RE: RANT, a big one ! Feel free to join in. (11/17/2006 1:53:59 AM)

This need to control the habits of individuals that does no harm to anyone but themselves is very American, like the excessive intrusion into ones private life if one should want to go to America. Despite what Americans think, they are more controled and receive more state propaganda than Russians. I think this need some Americans have to control their fellow citizen's habits is the symptom of living in an ideological state and if you don't think you live in an ideological state read your constitution and analyse your media.

Unfortunately Blair is trying to import this sort of shit into Britain which is one of the reasons I'm glad I don't live there. Hopefully someone will assassinate the fucking war criminal.

meatcleaver -> RE: RANT, a big one ! Feel free to join in. (11/17/2006 4:02:33 AM)

Apologies to Americans, I went off the deep end there because Saint Sinergy wound me up because he was being disingenous again.

When I walk the streets in Holland there are always people milling around unintimidated by the anti-smoking Gestapo and you don't get clouds of tobacco smoke wafting in your face and its not because I am smoking too. I only smoke the occasional Cuban cigar and you don't enjoy them on a windy Dutch street. When I've been to California, apart from some urban centres, you just don't see that many people on the street, they are all in cars so where is all this smoke coming from that is wafting in Sinergy's face, god only knows.
