I never said all conservatives are ignorant. I said "ignorance is bliss," and the conservatives immediately went into war mode. But I agree with you that the thread has turned into "You're ignorant because you're conservative!" "No, YOU'RE ignorant because you're liberal," and I'm out of here too.

And also happiness comes from a sense of accomplisment not being told that you're "worthy" or "unique" or all that "feel good" crap that they try to teach in the schools. And I find that a lot of liberals are "repressed" due to their "belief" in political correctness. It's like a lot of them are anal-retentives. "Oh, he wasn't a bad person because he came from the ghetto and robbed a bank and raped a woman, he just didn't have the "opportunities" that most people have." Wrong, he WAS a bad person and he should have every bone in his body broken with a big lead pipe.

LaM, I disagree with your analysis. You made a condescending remark, on a thoughtful and interesting posts about social facts, inputting that conservatives are "happier" because they are ignorant. I called you on it, and you made things worse by trying to justify yourself, and thereby exposed your beliefs. I simply changed the "side" in your own analysis to show you that such thinking is unhelpful, even though you are certainly welcome to your opinions. Merc took the time to write a long, detailed and logical analysis in partial rebuttal to the "conservatives are ignorant" meme. He didn't throw names, or use short, snappy but emotionally charged sentences to state his opinion. It's the people on any part of the political spectrum who try to use "sound bite" answers to disagreements that aren't all that helpful. FirmKY

That way we could get all those depressed liberals on those "be happy" drugs and they can start smiling for the first time in 20 years. It's a real Chore being around them! (This "Darfur" thing seems to be their latest drug of choice for inducing depression.) (I don't know what they expect (me) to do about some rat assed country 6,000 miles away.) (I try to tell them that I don't want my money or Troops in Iraq much less "Darfur".) (These people live in the U.S., worry about what's going on here and not in foreign countries and they'll be much happier.) And that should include Dental as well. I don't know why they seperate the two, Dental Health is just another part of overall health.

Someone mentioned religion. That's a good point. I think, overall, Republicans attend church more often than Democrats and according to Pew's survery: quote: People who attend religious services weekly or more are happier (43% very happy) than those who attend monthly or less (31%); or seldom or never (26%). Someone also mentioned that Republicans can afford better healthcare--thus being happier. That is a good point, but I doubt there is a big difference in wealth. There could be some truth in this theory as well. Another one that I think others might've noticed - if they had read the report - is marriage. I think, overall, that conservatives wed in higher percentages than liberals do.
