I do not think the Marines want to be in that situation.

If the Marines don't want to be associated with or involved in a conflict arising over christianity, I would think that the best solution would be for them to withdraw themselves from participation in a christian holiday. (Personally, I would think they are much better equipped to make a real bang out of the 4th of July anyway)

As for the talking Jesus dolls.....Toys for Tots asks for unwrapped toys. They could very easily ask those receiving donations if indeed they want their child to have the gift of a talking Jesus doll rather than turn down the donation entirely. My own personal opinion of Talking Jesus dolls.....waaaaaayyyyyyyy tacky!!!!!

I googled for these talking talking Jesus dolls and discovered there are also talking Moses and Virgin Mary dolls.  I wonder what the Virgin Mary says....

I dunno, but from what I heard about Moses, I hope she didn't spend any time in the same box, or they'd have to relabel her....

Maybe if they had a "Tough Talking Jesus Doll" that would be more acceptable to the Marines.
"You want a piece of me you grabasstic moron?"
"You want a lightning bolt up your ass?"
"You gonna give me a reach around?"

No, but we're having fun pretending.

"Sister Helen, this altarboy has lost his kneepads!  Please get him new ones, as he will not be getting his feeding until then.  No point in damaging the floors, now is there?"

Yours,

benji

I think it's a smart move by the Corps.  They are not a missionary organization.  Christmas is just as much an American cultural holiday as a religious one, probably more.  If the fundy's don't like it, tell them to look up the origin of the word "Easter" (here's a hint, it ain't from the Bible).

I read the article earlier today and the only quote I saw was something from the bible about being "born again."  My intial reaction was "nice PR, saves on catalogs, mailings, kiosk in the mall."  Massive saturation just before the holidays and the article even lets you know that they are only $20 a piece.   Now they can add "As Seen On TV."  It really wasn't an altogether bad plan -- they had to know the Marines would decline thereby giving them an in with the media.  Some folks might even buy now just because:   "No one says NO to Jesus in my house, dammit!"

That was so funny.
I'm going to burn in Hell for laughing.
Jesus kind of looks like Fergus and Moses is wearing oven mitts.

Think I should bring them up at the next shareholders meeting?
