ORIGINAL: Quivver I cant speak for Europe, but I am the voice of experiance at feeding a family on a very limited budget. Good food is expensive, cheap food makes ya fat. People do know ~how~ to eat, but many times are limited by their wallet. ... let this evolve from a child who grew up in a penny pinching family who ate alot of starch, and you've got an adult that has never grown a taste for good for you food. It's happening now in our life time... Personally I think more women need to learn to really cook! I'm on a limited budget and at one time had to go to food banks when I was first separated. I am not fat my kids are lean and strong as I am too. I didn't think that cheap food makes you fat. I always thought organic food was expensive, but can't agree with that. We are an active family, walking daily, swimming and taking care. I have used my old habit cigarette money to buy us a membership at the complex where we can join in on the gym, pool and rink. It's all in the mind and I believe that food can be an addiction. I know tons that eat when they are depressed, and even when something good happens, this time of the year is hard for many to eat properly. Christmas goodies and the like. Being obese is sad, I do feel for those that suffer addiction, because merely food is just a symptom of thier disease. To stop obesity is really not showing someone HOW to cook it's showing someone how to cope with life on life's terms and eat sensibly and healthy. A box of kraft dinner and a bag of chips can buy you a lb of hamburger meat and a couple of potatoes. I know, I live on a budget and I cook all My meals. Take care and be wise.
