In a perfect world all would be based on the purity of one's heart and personality. Alas, this world is far from that. No one, my self included has been at a social event or a public outing and glanced across a room and gasped...........wow what a great personality. The initial attraction whether it be for pure fundamental God given beauty or a way some one carries oneself as in sex appeal I believe is inherent in all of us. Once this initial meeting has taken place and the relationship progresses that is when the outward appearance goes from having the utmost importance to minimal as far as I am concerned. At that point one must be cognisant of all of the variables, such as looks, personality, maturity level, etc if the relationship is to have any real importance. Being online is another aspect entirely, since more often than not many spend countless hours getting to know someone prior to ever meeting them in person. This is of course of a double edged sword. The reason it is such is due to the fact you can spend months puring your heart and soul to someone and ultimately for one reason or another not hit it off in person.

Mostly it's a personality (or what I call chemistry) thing. Im not very much hung up on looks and dont have a single memory in my life of ever being attracted to someone based solely on his appearance.  Physical appearance just isn't what grabs me.  It's this whole feeling that I get.  It cant be broken down into one particular thing like "looks or personality". However, this is not to say that I dont have some standards as far as physical appearance.  There are a few physical 'things' I consider repulsive. They will go unmentioned, so as not to offend. :)

I am just wondering what does it for you?  The way a person looks or their personallity?  I know looks help sure but if they are not  great looking but they have a great personallity can that offset it for you?

I got lucky, Master has both. If i had to pick one i would say personality. Any one can have looks  but it takes a unique personality  to know what to do with a slave that gives her all.

HEHE i like that nikka

I also like "I may be fat but I can diet you'll be a stupid inconsiderate jerk forever"

That is so similar to "I may be fat but you are ugly and I can go on a diet".

Seriously, I will take personality, intelligence and passion over looks at any time.  I have dated guys who were good looking and some who were not good looking but if he cannot have a good personality, then the connection is not there for me.

In the long run, its all about personality for me or at least some difficult to define, intangible mental/emotional quality that might better come under the term "character."  (Personality is a recent addition to our cultural lexicon that came into vogue in the 40's and 50's and, in general, refers to one's social self and how one interacts with others.)

There's a simple reason for this.  I seek out Dominants, and for me, dominance is a character trait and not a physical trait. It doesn't matter how physically attractive I find someone at first glance, or how put off by them  I am. What matters is the particular way in which their dominance manifests itself.

My Master said after talking to me by phone he would have wanted me even if  i was 800 lbs and looked like a troll i am not and do not. but he loves my personallity, and thinks i am pretty.  I liked his personallity too and would have wanted him anyway  he just happened to be very handsome also.

So what does it for you?

PERSONALITY!!!

I would love for the world to understand how the personality/looks continuum works, but alas many are so caught up in the physical that they lose out on the mental aspects of great people...

Though - I will confess that I am, in some ways, glad that is the case because I am now owned by the most wonderful Dom in the world, and if it wasn't for other women being too "shallow" about appearances (he is very overweight) I wouldn't have met him - so Hooray for me!! :)

I would have to say a persons personality and such first and formost.  I've dated girls that were not at all attractive (and me being the kind of guy I am/was, spent time in detention when people were so callous towards my girlfriend at the time).  As I grew up I continued to look at a person as a whole and not just specifics.

With who I am with now, I started to fall for her, feel a connection for her well before I ever saw a picture of her.   I am not attractive looking, but she said she was feeling attracted to me/interested in me well before she ever say a picture of me too.

I can't understand people who focus on looks first since a persons appearance is only finite and is subject to time, wear, stress, drugs and accidents.   Any one of those can change a persons appearence.   A personality can still change, but not as much.  My best friend dropped his fiance because when she dropped weight, she did in fact become more beautiful but at the same time her personality changed.

His reasoning was that he will only be waking up to a 'hot woman' for a few years but waking up next to a bitch for the rest of his life.

for this little lady its all in the attitude and personality..i have kicked more than one adonis like man to the curb becase they were rude and obnoxious...if one actually looked at the assortment of men i have dated, played with, married i think there are only one or two that are concidered good looking by today's standards...oh oh course one just had an ass that i just couldnt resist...but we both figured out in a very short time that we were not suitable for each other

well have a great day

Most definaately personality first.  When i was in college, i met a guy who i thought might have been the ugliest person i'd ever met.  However...he was soooo intelligent, had so much confidence, that within a short time, his physical appearance actually changed for me.  He became, if not handsome, then incredibly sexy and the chemistry was hot.

intelligence is the sexiest attritbute for me.  Intelligence, communication skills, compassion toward others and stability.  Those are first, and next is the full set of teeth, and under 300 pounds.

Was married to an extremely handsome man during the first marriage.  No personality.  2nd marriage attractive but not extremely so, personality pleasant. Widowed.  Sir is personality plus and i think very handsome.  But if i had to choose the personality wins each and every time.  Beauty/handsome fades with time or through accidents and without the personality what is left.  Give me the guy that can make me laugh, feel comfy, loved and secure and i will show you the Dom that floats my boat and has my devotion.

For building a real relationship, i think that personality is far more important as the look is easier to modify.

But what counts the most is what is hidden inside. Of course, if both a great, it is even better !!!

Both are better but the bottomline will always be the personality.

Well, the first time I saw my Dom, I was not as much drawn to his looks, and had no way of judging his personality available- he was on stage, I was in the crowd- but instead, I found myself fascinated by the way he moved- it's always the first thing that attracts me to a person or that I notice about them.

It was almost a year after that, after seeing the shows he was playing, that I worked up the nerve to talk to him- and realized that he had a personality beyond all hopes I had. There was chemistry, followed by love- and, in my eyes, he is the sexiest man alive. He said what did it for him was noticing me the first time (I stick out, haha- it's the hair), and then me having the guts to go up and talk to him.

He has said that he doesn't have any requirement that I look like I do now when I am 50- and I'm happy about that. It means I'm not here just to be a decoration on his side, but that he wants me with him because we share something special. I have no expectation for him to look the same, either- I know that I will be with him for as long as we love each other.

So, for me, it's like this:
1. The way the person moves (my method for determining a lot about people).
2. What I feel like when I talk to them (chemistry).
3. What they look like.

behindmirrors.
