I think about everything I like is Geeky.

Only game installed on computer is Civ 4, was Civ 3 then Civ 2 before that then Civ 1 on the amiga my dad had years ago. LOL. But I also like the any of the games where you control societies. SimCity used to play. Favourite board game is Risk, and I enjoy Dungeons & Dragons but hard to find a good stable group. Used to play EverQuest but got to pissed and wasted way to much time.

I've actually caught myself saying Laugh Out Loud while laughing, in offline situations. So, yeah, I need to get a life. And my sole job is selling online. I live off the defacto geek drink Mountain dew, and don't know how to cook anything that isn't microwavable.

I get excited when AMD or Intel releases a new chip and enjoy reading the articles. I'll take a documentary over a movie any day. Except a few, Probably watched the Matrix (The first one not the other ones) 30 times and still enjoy it.

Once you hit about 30 you can't 'do the dew' so much anymore ;) but I remember many Mountain Dew induced game sessions!

Love Yahtzee..well, Triple Yahtzee which should up my status on the geek meeter since I don't want to play unless I get three chances at Yahtzee.  UNO, Euchre, trivia and strategy board games are fun and I have been up and down with my addiction to DAoC and WoW.

Hmm..would I be considered a geek? I can go on and on about Professor Tolkien and Anne Rice, I love movies of all kinds, I love online chat RPs and sometimes board (forum) RPs, I love to read up on serial killers and such....and I'm highly anti-social and would rather read a good book than deal with the outside world. *cough*

I'm not a geek. And anyone who told you I was is lying. They're lying liary liars.

I play magic, D&D, watch silly cartoons (Japanese and otherwise), and YES I go to the renfaire every damn year. I can quote Monty Python and the Princess Bride chapter and verse, and by god when I saw Les Mis live in Boston for the first time I cried like a little girl.

I mean, lets face it, if nerds had royalty, I would be their queen. Or at least a minor duchess or something.

However despite all this, I still manage to have reasonable social skills, dress well, and can interact with the world at large. Go figure.

I used to play Dungeons & Dragons, Chill, Toon, TMNT (before the cartoon), and a few others. Usually I could never find a dungeon master that could intrigue me enough to want to play. Except once when I played Chill with a guy in the Twin Cities on Halloween. That guy KNEW how to set an environment and he could tell stories with the best of them.

I also larp - which is geeky, even among other geeks. I was co-creator and president of a fantasy larp in Madison, WI. Not nearly as historically anal as the SCA, but the fighting was intense enough. Since then, I've created one other larp featuring 19 total character classes and I'm working on rules for one based in post-apocalyptic times rather than medieval based (the tricky part was trying to create a system that allowed people an iconic representation of "guns" without having any real danger present).

I dont play video games that often anymore. After they came out with Final Fantasy II and the Super Nintendo, I just lost interest in console games altogether.

I love fantasy movies. Not so much sci-fi anymore - they're all so formulaic and more about special effects than storyline.

I'm definitely a nerd. I not only play Scrabble but have had friendships fray (only temporarily, I'm glad to say) over it. And I'll check the spelling of a word before using it in a chatroom. (Then again, I am an editor.)

Geek, though, has always seemed to suggest a certain amount of technological savvy/affinity, which I'm not sure I possess.

Interesting distinction, dcnovice.

I'd say that a nerd is bookish while a geek has an obsessive interest in a topic that is considered, uh, not entirely mainstream. If such definitions are in place, then I'm both a nerd and a geek.

I mean, c'mon, I not only have a sci-fi problem but also am obsessed with the Sunday NY Times crossword puzzle (although Saturday is harder) and have a librarian action figure on my Xmas wish list. I think that qualifies me as both, yes?

Well... "geeks" are circus performers who typically perform stunts like biting the heads off chickens.

"Dorks" are whale penises.

And "nerds" are a tasty crunchy candy.

I gave a friend a librarian action figure when he got his MLS! And I'm the proud owner of an Oscar Wilde action figure. [:)]

My LEGO collection is worth more than my car.  Also,  I could not fit the entire collection IN my car.

I have taken security gigs at certain west coast conventions simply because it gets me closer to LEGOLAND near San Diego.

I bought one of my external hard drives simply because it looks like a lego brick.

AD&D (w/100 some odd dice from d4 through and including a d100 and that's an actual d100, not percentiles!), Magic:TG (10,000+ cards including several sets of Power 9's), Star Trek (fan almost to the point of obsessive), Xbox, PSX, PS1, PS2, Gamecube, SNES, 2 Gameboys, 2 laptops, 3 desktops, several dozen various computer parts laying around the house (what does it say about someone who just can't part with their old, useless hardrive?), 5000+ books on a variety of subjects, collection of dragon and wizard statues, Hot Wheels collection, several chess sets including, of course, the tri level set from Star Trek and one handmade chess set (The pawns are the Keystone cops, the King is W.C. Fields, Queen is Mae West, Rooks are the 3 Stooges etc. etc.), Con and RenFaire attender (and I do dress appropriate for both) .. and I speak Klingon, not well, but I speak it because, hey, I have a universal translator (better known as the Klingon dictionary on CD-Rom).

That's it.. well, that's all I'm willing to admit to anyway. (We can get into speaking Elvish at some other time.) ::laughs::

I'm a big fan of BIONICLE and MINDWORKS in the Technic area.

But I have an obscene amount of loose brick and plate.  I make a lot of things.  It's whatever comes to mind.  And the thing about the speciality sets like BIONICLE not sparking imagination?  You really should see some of the MOCs I've seen done with them.

i was a geek in school....always high honors...always reading. 
 
Now i'm an adult OCD geek.  Gotta do the crossword puzzle every day, and play some mahjong and crescent solitaire.....every day.  i'd even rather do that than talk on the phone!
 
i still like to read (but only non-fic), love jigsaw puzzles, and am an avid card player (hearts, spades, euchre, pinochle, poker, blackjack, various rummies, and even various kids games [&:])  i also have a miniature karaoke machine that i use every now and then (does that count?  lol)
 
Edited to add that i always keep a dictionary window open when i'm on the net in case i have to look up a word i'm not quite sure of  [8|]

But how do i know i'm really a geek?  Because my kids tell me so  [sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif]

That there's 60 gigs of music on it and ONE DAY you may figure out how to recover it.  Of course, storing it on the bookshelf may not be the way to go.
