Over the last several weeks I have notices in my posts here how much they have echoed the words of those who have influenced my thoughts and opinions of the lifestyle. Just today I read a post by one of those who I feel has influenced me more then anyone even though we have rarely talked on a one on one basis. Yet I posted to the thread long before they did and their response was pretty much the same.

So I was wondering how many out there find their selves repeating the words of those who they respect and influence them the most. Not only here on the boards but in everyday life interactions with in the community.

Mistress Vixen, who left the yahoo boards awhile ago but who got my head kicked into high gear on all this and who I owe much in terms of my foundational perspectives of wiitwd.

Miss Hennie, who proved over and over again that people really can be content on the extremes, even if you think what they do is ridiculous.

SoulHuntre/the whole NY state of kinksters- who forced me constantly to reshape and restate and rethink and hone my skills to be able to have healthy challenging debates even with the hugest of assholes.

ImpGrrl- who showed me how to accept myself

My ex owner- who took some basic talent and turned it into a working relationship

And last but not least, Tank, who first taught me the living definition of a "rock star dom."

Ok, some name dropping...

Mistress Angelique...while we no longer have a relationship, she was influention in helping me figure out what I do and don't like...and teaching me a lot of the basics. She's never participated on the boards, but we co-founded a group for Female Dominants that's in its 4th year. I still wish that she would step into the national community.

SlaveMaster, slave nick and William; Master Steve Sampson, slave kirk and Robert; Master Skip Chasey, slave alia and slave caroline: these Masters and their families are the three primary instructors for Butchmanns...and I feel that all listed are a part of my extended family. They have influenced me a great deal. Since hearing them for the first time, my spirituality, as well as the level of clarity I have about who I am, has gone to new levels. It'd been a pleasure getting to know each of them and I am truly grateful for their guidance.

Master Bert and slave nadine: Master Bert help me figure some things out in my personal life and it's simply a pleasure to watch him interact with nadine as well as teach others. As a fellow MAsT Chapter Director, we often bounce ideas off one another about leadership and such. It's wonderful to have such a friend.

Master Scott and slavette: This was the first Master/slave couple I met when I first came into the scene. Several presentations they've done have helped me along my journey. It's been delighteful getting know slavette as I've been able to do in the last year and a half. I miss our weekly lunches.

slave viola johnson: Oddly enough, there's a real possibility that Vi and I a biologically related, we've discovered. But, besides that point, Vi is a beacon for me in exploring the Vampire that is immerging. her ability to teach with grace (she WAS a debutant, after all) and her thirst for history (among other things) have touched me deeply.

Others who have left their mark on me: Master Z and slave boy tony, Mistress Susan and slave boi ziggy, Master Taino, my slave girl anne and slave jason.

There are others, I'm sure, but these are the ones who come to mind. To each one, I bow, to some, I have knelt, in gratitude.

I think the biggest influence on me has come from Fakir Musofar. His kindness, his passion for self-exploration, the fact he is so willing to share his own experiences, his humor and his knowledge ... they are all just amazing to me. He has the touch of an angel even when he's sticking needles in you and has a soul which the word gentle fails to decribe in any adequate fashion.

I would say that for me, Jack Rinella and his slave Patrick have been wonderful and realistic role models for me and my household as well as good friends.

Janet Hardy, Cecilia Tan, and Laura Antoniou all gave me the courage and encouragement to begin writing.

Susan Wright gives me the courage to keep writing and to find a way to continue being an activist even without a local community.

Lolita Wolf and the others in TES and the Applemunch gave me the courage to do occasional workshops and get involved and the place to try it out.

But I don't repeat anyone's words that I am aware of. Instead I try and look at their lives and get validation that how I do things, how my household does things, is one of the legitimate ways to do this all.

Damn...I'm jealous, Celeste!  You've played with Him?  <sigh>

Well, I've not met them; but I also like his wife, Cleo Dubois...  She's taught me I can top and don't need to sound like an army sargent; I like to use please & thank you, too.  She's an inspiration!

Who's influenced me the most, though?  The several, very experienced folks (both Doms and submissives...) who've taken me under their wings and helped me learn about both me and this lifestyle by playing and teaching and demonstrating on/to/with me.  I've been quite fortunate, me thinks!

Hmmm... for me I think it was both LoD and Rover... I've talked to them and heard them talk in chatrooms forever (not that I would admit to any of us being old or anything but it's been over ten years or so) and over time they both had a great deal of influence on how I viewed things and the process by which I come up with my own opinions. Both come to a debate well armed and, at least to me, don't come off sounding pompous, arrogant and self righteous... ok, well, most of the time anyway. And there are others, like VooDoo, LadyHugs and some whose names escape me but their influence hasn't. These are people that I would love to have sitting at my table someday.

I am not much on accolades or 'hero worship' - I think that a lot of people at different times and in different ways shape our thinking, our perspectives and our lives... and, that a lot of the people that others emulate in life are as faulted as us mortals with feet of clay and exceptionally skewed perspectives on their lives and their relationship to people they call 'brother' and 'sister'... and, therefore I tend to gravitate away from speaking of people in terms more lofty that the dirt we stand on deserves.

But the one person who really impacted my life and I miss (and, who was a friend and more) was David H. of Hartford/Boston/Key West who passed away 10 years ago this month - without any fanfare or attention, except by those of us who knew him - and, I will bet he was wicked pissed about that.

He played with our group of perverts in the Boston area and points about, introduced me around to the NYC freaks when finally I moved here permanently, and (in an odd and convoluted way which he was unaware of when he decided to abandon us) introduced me to the girl I have been abusing for the last decade.

I have always maintained that personal and close friendships are the most influential of all the things that shape us - and, that those friendships which endure for years are the ones which pervade time and space and remain no matter where the other one is or was.

As much of a sadistic (in a bad way) SOB as he was, David proved that point on a regular basis - and, his impact on my life and (even) people he did not know continues to have that ripple effect he would laugh himself silly about when he was exceptionally pervasive in screwing with people.

Hmm, my influences...

Well, most of my strongest influences have been my friends and lovers. My experiences have shaped me a lot. I also have some help though things from a set of <gods/imaginary friends> with whom I have interacted for years.

I've been lurking here for a while, before deciding to jump in with both feet. And I find there are certain people on here who often seem to express my own opinions far better than I could. Although I don't always agree with them, they have had some influence on my opinion at times. Off the top of my head, LuckyAlbatross, MasterFireMaam, JuliaOceania, and Sinergy all come to mind.

-edited cuz I spelt some namez rong.

LOL, I remember seeing Rover in MSN chat rooms when I first discovered BDSM.  For awhile there, I was convinced people only ‘did’ it online…and was sorely disappointed.  (I was never a fan of all that ‘swirling silks’ and ‘requesting permission’ to enter a chat room.  Reading his posts made me believe people actually LIVED it… and I began looking elsewhere.   I could say Rover is the reason I discovered the Denver Munches…and real people!

I wonder if your VooDoo was the same one I ‘knew’ there?

Sure as shit I thought of one who has made an impact on me that I forgot to mention: LuckyAlbatross (Who's name I struggle to spell every time. Bad spellers of the world, UNTIE!). We seems to share the same viewpoints often, LA...but I find that you often say it in a way that makes me go, "Yeah! What she said!" LOL

OK that's weird because the same thing happens all the time with you :)  And your pic always turns me on in a submissive female lust way.

I was specifically avoiding regular cm posters because that just leads to clique calls- you are all great facets of my experience here and I follow your progress with sweet attention to reflect and shape my own.

But I forgot someone also- Raven Kaldera and his slave Joshua.  Solidifying my random thoughts and intuitions about sexuality as a service and whoring as a sacred art- and of being people who understand that you can either accept the tests you bring to yourself in life or be doomed to frustration forever.

I have a handful of folks who over the years have made me think ... bigger.  Not differently but to take in more info before coming to conclusions, and to not see everything in the lifestlye as black and white base on MY tastes.  They thought me to think of my local community and the whole worldwide leather/kink scene, not just myself.  They also taught me to think about our relationship with the rest of the world.

Etoile got me to volounteer, be part of a local group instead of just a guy in the back at the munches.
Chimeara got me to go to events, sometimes several a month (LoL we wore my last pickup OUT).
At one of those events Jay Wiseman talked about social interaction in the scene, party games, and just generally being a kinky person among others (hint, its focusing on the person part, not the kinky part).  At the same event a speaker for NCSF talked about dealing with legal questions raised by kinky activity (both individually and as an organization).
AmazonLea, Extremus, Monsignor and MsOrchid taught me a LOT oabout Poly, and that while the term may be abused by some it is a real choice (if not always my choice).
Elllen taught me ProDommes can be people too.

And some members of this forum (I'll agree with Master Fire about LA for instance) have been a constant source of information and inspiration.

I can't say that anyone individual has influenced me in any remarkable or rememberable manner in this lifestyle.  I do reflect that many have provided me with seeds of thought that when nutured provided me with many areas to expand my growth.  These seeds can't be pointed to one individual since each are but a grain of sand that built the mountain.  I would add that it has not only been positive individuals and experiences that have contributed to my small mountain of knowledge and thought.  Many negative individuals and expereinces have taught me lessons directly and indirectly that have contributed to my little mountain.

However, I would have to consider what was the most significant factor that contributes to the incredible happiness and success I have enjoyed... it would be the characteristics of who I am.  These Characteristics that have been engrained and nutured are the result of my upbringing.  It was my parents that planted that first seed that has had more influence on me than any singular individual or group of individuals.  My parent instilled into me certain aspects of Integrity and loyalty.  They  Impressed upon me the ideals of work ethic and courage in the face of adversit and this is just to name a few of the aspects to my character.  It was my parents that set the stage.... no other could influence me more than they have.

I can't say I have really been influenced by anyone in particular. I go through this adventure much the way I do the rest of life...stumbling from one disaster to the next, enjoying every minute of the ride...even when things are the shits

Once again KoM you have given me something to reflect on. I had never thought of my parents as someone who has influenced me in the lifestyle. Yet they taught me many of the things you talk about such as work ethic and integrity.

I also agree that no one person has influenced me. But some are much better at planting those seeds of thought. For me you are one of those people who plants the seeds of thought in my head and really makes me stop and think and reevaluate my position. Things that you have posted here on the boards....discussions that have been held in chat. Things that both kyra and alandra have said and posted. Have for me played a major role in really making me think and explore what it is that I truly seek not only from the lifestyle but from life in general as both are very intertwined for me. And listening to both your girls describe certain experiences has defiantly expanded my horizons on things I want to try and do. You have been one of the few people who can really make me stop and think and even on occasion made me do so and stopped me from rushing into something before I knew what I was getting myself into.

LA is another from the boards that has influenced me here she always seams so wise and knowledgeable beyond her yrs. And has also made it easier for me to learn to accept the sides of myself that society in general would have a hard time dealing with. But then their are so many here who speak words of wisdom so the boards in and of themselves have influenced me greatly.

Then there is WoodenPaddle who has also taught me to accept myself and my desires and GandolftheGrey who taught me to quite focusing so much on specific limits things I felt I could or would not do...but to look more at the character of the Dom/me...becuase if they were worthwhile of my service they would never push me beyond my limits. And that I was limiting myself and what I could learn by doing this.

There is SilvrLion and MistressDove here in the local community who made it so very clear to me that there is no wrong or right way to live this life. And CruelBastard who took the time to show me and let me experience so many of the different implements used in play. And ChicagoMaster4U who while is not local I have had the opportunity to spend many hours with and who has helped me to accept my sexuality and my inner slut. WoodenPaddle should be added to this list of those I know r/t as he is the one who first showed me sub space and for that I will forever be grateful.
