AHHhhhh... did you just give me an unintentional clue?  You wrote "Scrabbling" instead of "ScraMbling to answer."  I saw that and thought "How odd."

Are these the highest scoring words with 'Q' in Scrabble?  <looking on web for the "registered" mark so I can be "legal." LOL!> Each in quartet has 7 letters and some other high-point letters as well.  Poor little "QUARTET"  ...... all those low-point guys attached to the "Q".

But, but,..........

I'm surprised I got it. Usually I try to read way too much into these little puzzles. LOL!

My next quartet is unique and not quite so easy.  The list is:

Deepwater Cisco
Longjaw Cisco
Banff Longnose Dace
Blue Walleye

Edited for spacing ONLY.  Oh, and the italics.  I earlier learned (the hard way) to cut-n-paste so that spelling doesn't lead one astray, making the list into red herrings.

fluff; just one word: duh!  On the other hand, pts "got" me.  I did give the clue that the quartet is unique.

What commonality do these 4 fish species have in common?

You won't catch any of these Canadian fish species on your next fishing trip.

(But what about the Hadley Lake Stickleback?  There are 5 fish on the extinct list.)

Well, fluff, I think I should've done a little more research....... And, as we'll see in a moment, you should have, too. LOL!  DAMN! I hate "should."  Please excuse me, dear fluff.

==================

Here's my reference: http://raysweb.net/specialplaces/pages/canada-es.html
And I quote:
Canada's Endangered Species

256 Canadian species are listed by the Scientific Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) as being extinct, extirpated, endangered, threatened and vulnerable. The list only includes Canada's vertebrate and vascular plant species and was released in April 1994.

---------------------------------
Definitions are:

Extinct - a species formerly indigenous to Canada that no longer exists anywhere.
---------------------------------
Extinct - 9 species

Mammals, 2; Birds, 3; Fish, 4

Dawson's Caribou, Sea Mink, Great Auk, Labrador Duck, Passenger Pigeon, Deepwater Cisco, Longjaw Cisco, Banff Longnose Dace, Blue Walleye
======================

My bad for using out-dated (16 years) list.  Let's see how hard it is to find an up-dated one..... LOL!  Trivial actually, since we have "COSEWIC"

http://www.cosewic.gc.ca/eng/sct1/SearchResult_e.cfm?commonName=&scienceName=&boxStatus=1&boxTaxonomic=3&Submit=Submit

Check out the absolutely gorgeous logo..... incredible!

Well, they list 6, with overlap on my list (provided I include fluff's Stickleback, for which the common name appears twice, representing two species.)

Anyway, maybe it's the "indigenous to Canada" part that we (them, fluff, and me) differ on. As I said above, sometimes I get wound up on these wonderful little puzzles.  But in this instance, that's quite enough, Lance.

Before my current, good meds were prescribed, I would've made a table detailing the things I found and continued until it was all filled in with appropriate references.

For Risen Christ's sake (this being Easter Sunday) Lance!  Maybe you could have them "up" your dose.... LOL! Yeah, maybe you're right.  I'll ask on Thursday.

Until then, I'll just say: Take it away, fluff. LOL!

Edited for punctuation and spelling.

Hint for Lance...If you don't try to make it unique, it saves lots of energy and apologies.

(check with your chef...can you make Rice Krispy treats with Peeps if you don't have marshmallows or marshallow cream?  Aylee needs to know.)
