What a sorry state of affairs this world is, how the most of the young today do not know the importance of standing by their words. I don’t know about most of you but I was raise during a time, when a person was taught that their words were their bonds. And he is only as good as those he keeps.
You would think someone who calls them self a Dom would know and understand that even if he is under the age of forty.
One would think that if a Dom made a promise whether it be big or small that it would be important for him to keep and stop finding reason or excuses to not follow though. But I guess when you are thirty or something promises made are not important. Especially if you made to someone  of the older generation
Take care and be safe

slavejlb....and what makes you think all young people are cut out of the same "paper"? Its like as if I said old people complain all the time.....this could be true for some but not all.

Old people rant about young people. Young people rant about old people. It's been that way since the beginning of time I imagine. (or at least since there was more than one generation of people).

Old people smell with their noses just like young people....grin

This is your first mistake -- thinking that because someon calls himself a "Dom" that he's a good guy, in general.  And also, do not make broad sweeping generalizations that younger people don't keep their word.  sheesh

Lol, LA..that one made me laugh, and I needed it.

It has nothing to do with age.  I am 31 and I have had a lot of people from your so-called more dependable generation break their promises to me.

It's not the age, it's the integrity of the person.  That is something that a person can have or not have, be they 13 or 67.

I agree with this 100%. I am also 31 and have found people of all ages, roles, genders whose word is golden and whose word is useless. Gross generalizations of this nature just come of as bitter and judgmental.

LOL, well, noses are pretty funny, if you give it any serious thought.
are older noses funnier than younger noses?

I believe that this, like most blanket statements, only apply to a few. I am a 31 year old Don who got in to the lifestyle 12 years ago. I very much expect to be taken at My word as it is all W/we truely have. Do I expect this of everyone, no that is silly but once you know ME, I do. I also do the same of others, Dom or sub. I don't tolerate lying from anyone, be Dom, sub, My kids, My co-workers, I just don't have the time for the games.

When we were young whippersnappers the old geezers said the same things about us, and it was just as invalid then as it is now.

Integrity is personal, not generational. I'm 22, my Dom is 30- so we are in the generalized group the OP talked about. Both of us stand by our words, and both of us are fully capable of getting along with any generation- older or younger- and we have each seen people in any generation "break their bond of words". It's a matter of who you are, and what you value- not the numerical age attached to it.

I have to disagree with you and agree with others on here.  It is not just the younger generation who break promises.  Agism isn't pretty whether it is against the old or the young.  Look for the character in the person, not the group.

I am 24 and I stand by my word, I keep my promises and I have integrity and a strong system of ethics.
People are individuals and don't pop out of a mold ready programed, it depends on a lot of factors and tarring everyone with the same brush isa never a good idea.
Maybe you are just placing your trust in the wrong people?

All I know is I'm not feeling like a 'younger generation' anymore; not since I started diggin' my mother's taste in handbags.

I think people have been fucked up since time immemorial, you just have to take a look through history to see that. Yet, amongst all the crap there are some lovely souls, always has been and always will be.

I post this every now and then, I don't know when it was exactly written but the author died in 1945..so evn back then he was seeing people and the world as it is. It's always been the same...
Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful.

Max Ehrmann, 1927..oh there you go, 1927.
