I agree with what you're all saying for the mostpart, that it's a pretty meaningless idea and not worth a thing on its own merit, but if we were sure we would be together a long time in the future with our issues worked out, I would have whatever tattoo he wanted, even if it's a barcode and some numbers...gotta love sweet submission lol

LaMspeach - Is that the design you two chose in your avatar?

Yes, gurlie, my avatar is the mark Master desinged for me.

You touched on something i feel .... As silly as i think the bar coding is, if Master would have choose that for me i would have accepted with no questions asked. Yes, it is sweet submission and even sweeter that we have that much trust and love for our Masters. I am very thankful that master and i agree on most topic *smiles*

lateral - I disagree with a few things in your post.  For me, I accept nothing in life is guaranteed (you know, except death and taxes lol) and so if we waited until we were absolutely sure it was for life...we'd never make it anywhere.  And I'm confused as to why a slave would have a hard time because she wouldn't have another dom even though the dom would have other slaves...after the breakup she's free to have others I'd assume.  I would anyhow.

Jersey - Can you tell me how it works?  Did you both have to put in true info because there's a credit card needed or something?  Or you just chose to put in whatever you felt like, whether true or false?

Oh, and of course, thanks to every who has replied, it's very interesting to me to hear what others have done.  It's such a novelty, I've been pretty much the black sheep when it comes to this as none of my friends are involved in a D/s relationship and I believe would have no desire to be...to read things from others is definitely an exciting novelty

I think that having a number on the site is fine when it is viewed as kind of a cool novelty. Beyond that, I don't see that it really means much.

That's my take on it as well.  It's not too special if anyone can go there and register for a random number.

Well our relationship is brand new, but to mark me as His, he had me start growing his last name initial in my pubic hair.  It took a while to grow it so I could start shaping it, but it's there now and getting longer.

Okay, so it's not a tattoo or a branding, but it's a start and it makes me smile.

Being registered on The Slave Register website is no more or less significant than being registered on the CollarMe website.  It is just another FREE website to publicize that you are a slave or submissive or switch, etc.  It doesn't ask for anything that CollarMe doesn't ask for.  It is FREE, so no, you do not give credit card info or anything that would compromise your own security.  The SLN and barcode and certificate are just significant to you, if you consider them to be.  As for this slave, i registered on TSR at the same time that i registered on CM and that was because i was searching for a Master and i was told about those two sites.  TSR also allows a lot more graphic photos on your profile than CM does.  It has message boards, too, and some information about various aspects of BDSM and it is just another resource to those of us out here who wish to use it.  You can go to their website and see for yourself and you don't even have to register.  You can sign in as a "guest".  http://www.slaveregister.com/

This is my certifiacte:

Slave Ownership and Registration Certificate for 062-808-443

This is to certify that the registrant with number 062-808-443, currently known as slave_joy, is registered in The Slave Register as an owned slave; and that the registrant's owner is declared to be Master David; and that the registrant has been owned by Master David since the 21st day of November 2005.
The registration number 062-808-443 was issued on the 27th day of October 2005. The current registration details may be inspected at http://www.slaveregister.com/062-808-443

This certificate was issued on the 2nd day of December 2006. For more information about The Slave Register please visit www.slaveregister.com

Most Respectfully,
slavegirl joy

I follow suit with the majority.  I would much rather have some meaning or significance behind a tattoo.  (he has decided on our initials.  they just happen to be "S & M"..lol)

All kidding a side. Master marked me with a tattoo that he designed but it is was only after the relationship had grown to a point we were both comfortable that it would be a ltr. I think permanent marks should have a significance to the those involved not just some random number that a computer program choose.

My Master did the same - designed a mark that was personal to both of us, and tattoo'd me with it.  When he first took ownership of me, he mentioned the registry site and said I may register there if I like.  I said nah, it was meaningless to me, and he agreed it had no significance to him either, but wanted to offer it in the event that I might like it.

I agree that some get that objectification feeling from being assigned a barcode as an identifier of property.  From what I understand, the barcode stays with the slave no matter who her owner is, so that number does not really identify you as the property of anyone in particular; only as a slave who has been given assigned a particular number.  Therefore in my opinion, being branded with such a number does not do anything to identify the slave as her Master's - it only identifies her as a slave registered on that site.

Slave registry is a gimmick. What's the point?

Let's say you're a dominant who (a) is dumb enough to 'register' a slave and then (b) let's her run off.

What do you do, call the authorities? "Hey, officer, I branded her registration number on her ass. If you see that number imprint on the seat of a Waffle House booth, she's already handcuffed so just arrest her. Oh, yeah, she also stole my dope."

Experienced real doms will have more gumption.

No doubt junior doms will challenge my comment, but they probably registered their pet rocks.

Lol at much of the posts here, and yes I agree, silly...BUT but but...he thinks it would be fun, and we've done the meaningful collaring and all, so why not?  I think he's just excited to have seen something "new" and we've talked for a while about having tats together because I'm partial to them and he never thought he'd have one, so this is sort of more for me than anything else, and he likes the look of the barcode effect, as do I...so there we go.

Again, the compromise will be meaningful numbers, and I would be quite shocked if for him the site ones *were* meaningful, but in the event that they are, we'll fight about it until he realizes I'm right *giggles*  No, we'll discuss it and either I'll agree with him, or I'll tell him I think it's silly and he'll understand.  Easy peasy

The stories of others and their tat meanings, pubic hair creations, engravings, beat marks, were all endearing and I greatly enjoyed those who shared, so thank you all who've replied...sorry I missed this thread for so long also, it slipped past my radar

I'm looking ahead to the time when your kids say, "Mommmmm... What the hell were you thinking?"

(Pronounce 'Mommmmm' with three syllables and a whining note.)

You could always create a poll in the polling and quiz section.

The slave registers and gets the set of numbers. This set of numbers is unique to the slave and stays the same whether the slave is owned, unowned, or owned by someone else. I did it just for the fun of it but never go on there anymore and should probably take mine down. It was fun having a little certificate but I could've made that on the computer.

As for something else that was brought up... barcode tattoos are actually a very bad idea as it is nearly impossible to get one done that will not lose its quality. I actually know a few tattoo artists who refuse to do a barcode because it compromises the quality of their work. I think its best to do something that is special to the Y/you, whether it be tattooing, branding, or piercing or other.

I am registered as a slave where he is talking about.  I did it when I first started in r/l bdsm stuff.  When I got with Master, he did register as owning me, but that's about it.  No way in this world would someone ever tattoo those numbers on me.  I know that to some, those numbers mean a lot so they choose to though.  To me, it's just a random set of numbers that only mean something because they show me as belonging to my wonderful Master.

I would try to get something that means more to you both in your relationship.  I am getting one, but it will only happen once the commitment of marriage has been made.  We have already agreed that it will be something we both can agree on together and nothing less will be accepted.

I can agree with you there, that it for me to should something that has more meaning then just a series of numbers.  I also wouldn't do it until we had some sort of wedding ceremony. Being marked in such a manner would be more important to me then getting collared.

I'm collared, registered and wear my Masters name and  my registration number on my arm.  For me personally, I love to wear his marks, whether from a whip/quirt/cane/knife/..... or tattoos.
I see them all as marks of ownership given by a loving Master.
