I've never heard anything either regarding Jews and tatoos, and not sure if it's true or not, if it were it would make sense though considering the history.  And even if it's not true as a concrete 'rule' of the faith, it may be much like it is for a black man or woman to call themselves a Master or slave - the history of the words and what they meant has made the very idea of it very controversial, and you'd find many who are on both sides of the fence of the issue.

In the end, to each their own, and all you can do is know that you yourself aren't disrespecting an entire group of people with your own choice, you're only honoring yourself *shrugs*

Since when was this a topic about offending Jewish people?

The person that bought it up just bought it up as a point of reference on why they don't do it for. I understand why he does not do it for.

As I said many times before I believe the slave registry is a load of rubbish and getting a tatoo of the number I think is just dumb. Like someone else has mentioned its like getting a guy or gals name tattoed and then breaking up. You will get it removed.

Tats are discussed:  Leviticus 19:28
It is considered defacement of the body.

Like Erin, though, all I can find is confusion over this and sites that say burial is allowed in Jewish burial ground for those who are tattooed.  Some of it has to do with honoring the dead.

i must admit, the objectification of having a Slave Registry Number, hightened the subspace mindset for me in a gerneral life sence, vanilla and non vanilla.

And now that i found out that it can also be Googled, although i was initially intimidated, i find now i am more proud of my number.

Thank Y/you for reading my oppinion

i think the thing some ppl dont get here is that the number is not just for the dom... it is the SLAVES number.. no one elses.. it is theirs..i guess it is kinda like registering a car.. it has many owners.. but you haveot have soemthingot say it is yours.. some couples it is enough to say " your mine", other need something more... i will be honest.... i got my number as a kind of cookie thing to do.. a suprise for Master.. and he LOVED it... and every now and then, when im feeling low for some reason ( my life is complicated) i just goto the site.. read my certificate.. and i feel all better just knowing i am registered my Him adn its there for all the world to see..

imtempting - You sound a bit harsh, not sure if that's intended or not, but as the one who created the thread I'd just like to say that *EVERYONE'S* opinions/thoughts being shared are valid, in any discussion there will be side topics and I personally welcome it in any discussion I begin.  So, what everyone has shared is equally important, whether I share the same feelings or not, even yours *giggles*

It was/is a topic about how others feel about the slave registry site, having the numbers, being tattooed, and any other feelings/thoughts that any poster comes up with when they read the thread.

KatyL - Thanks for trying to get an answer regarding the Jewish faith and tattoos, looks like there won't be a definitive answer but I'm sure those who were interested in the points made about it will be some searching of their own as well and maybe we'll end up with a final answer.  If not, eh, sometimes the search is half the fun

Thanks all for your replies, much appreciated, it's great to hear of what others have done as symbols of their relationships.

I wasn't attempting to hijack the thread when I posted. A poster made a comment about something that I was unaware of. I looked it up and found much information to the opposite. I am not Jewish so it really does not make much of a difference in my life, but seeing as there are some Jewish people who may read this board who are interested in getting a tattoo, barcode or otherwise, I just thought I would share what I found. Didn't mean to offend you by doing so.....

Tal and hello,

I am going to try and give my point of view, I am gorean (but I don't speak for all goreans) and I see a mark on a slave either tattoo or branding with no problems, it is a sign of commitment and of what you are, and it is not a big issue for the goreans but it is usually done by a general mark that only signifies that that woman is a slave not of somebody but a slave (it can identify the owner also but it is not the rule) that makes it pratical in the case of a slave not becoming a index of the ppl that own her :) and the easier to identify the owner, the idea of the bar code isn't a bad ideia it is personal as the person knows what it means and it can be as powerfull as anything because it is a symbol, makes more sense to me than to have the date ppl meet or anniversary or somebody else's name, it is a personal brand with deep significant to the bearer.

Be well

It is my understanding that a Jewish person is not supposed to be permitted be buried in a Jewish cemetery (and therefore with his or her ancestors) if he or she has a tatoo.

That is one of the reasons the Nazi's tatooing of numbers on those imprisoned at concentration camps was such a demoralizing act.

My best friend was Jewish and she had a fit when I got my first tatt, and she explained to me it was forbidden for those of Jewish descent because of the numbers used to identify Jewish people by Nazi's during the Holocaust.

Well, everything else in this thread aside, i have to say i am very proud of my number.  It was a reward for getting thru some very difficult tasks My C laid before me.

i worked hard to earn it. i wear it on my tag, and i wear it with pride.

Personally, there are many things in the lifestyle that i don't like, that i find silly, or just plane old turns my stomach..  BUT, i learned a LONG time ago not to judge people because of what their likes or dislikes are.  i also learned that when i don't agree with someone, the last thing to do is just disreguard their thoughts and ideas, OR insult them by calling it stupid or such. Just like everything else in this lifestyle, it all depends on who you are and what you are.

i also feel the need to add here that i am totally amazed at how, in this lifestyle, which is so far out of what is considered the social norm, there are so many that can be judgemental.

Actually, it doesn't have it's basis in the Holocaust, although that is another reason why some are opposed. Tattooing is forbidden in the Torah and it's reasons had more to do with it being seen as something that Pagans did. While tattooing remains forbidden, it has become popular and is considered to be a relatively minor infraction.

Here are some links that should clear up the confusion.

i was registered in preparation for my collaring on the 21st.  i carry my tsr srn certificate in my handbag everywhere i go.  That was the day i became a slave officially in my heart.  my Master then branded the word slave on my body.  i won't be His slave until the 21st but being identified with a registration number made me feel whole and complete as an unowned slave moving towards being owned.

It's a number. It gets tattooed on your skin. They had numbers. They were tattooed on their skin. The circumstances are different.

You seem offended and I'm not sure why. I don't disapprove of this practice, just putting in my .02 and something for people to think about. He is part Jewish and has Jewish family. He feels this would be wrong. I am glad that you take pleasure in having your number on your skin. I don't see anything wrong with it. It is simply wrong for me and mine.

I'm not offended; I just don't understand the connection because I look beyond the basic for the meaning of something - or the meaning that it might hold to another - even moreso with body art since it's a passion of mine.

Like I said, it's not a required thing, so I don't understand all the fuss over it.

Jews who have tattoos can be buried in 'religious grounds'. Tattoos are a forbidden thing in Judaism, but if a Jew has one they are not 'kicked out'.

Many replies, I love that

Thanks everyone, will reply later when I can give it enough time.  Have read everything posted thus far, and just wanted to say since I wasn't quite sure to whom it was directed but personally I wasn't offended in the least and don't see side spurts of "other" topics as intrusive or offensive at all, I welcome whatever comes to mind for anyone posting and thank everyone who's taken time to reply

Seems in this lifestyle maybe more than most, what's most cherished/enjoyed by any one person won't be appreciated or understood by others, but all that matters is its importance to yourself and those who matter most, so hope nobody leaves the thread feeling undermined.  For pretty much everyone who's said they feel the numbers are meaningless, there's been another who's said they felt the oppostie and the numbers were very special in their lives, so I think we've got a pretty good balance of representation, thanks all
