I think that me and you may be from a similar childhood. Stay strong, I know what you went through (I really do).

No, I was 11 and I slit my wrists, but I think that's pretty close.
Please forgive me for trying to be supportive.......

I heard the argument that "politie society died when...." at the ripe age of fifteen during the war to end all wars at the end of the Victorian era.

Manners are volitile in society over time. What was 'polite in 1900 is completely ignored in 1950. And, what plays in Peoria may irritate in Spokane.

We (even in the US) are raised in regions, towns, and areas that are independant of one another and only influenced through the media.

You can go from Maine to Boston and find different morales and norms of behavior that (from one place to another) might be considered to be "rude" in some minor way - and take someone out of NYC and place them in Alabama for an interesting time.

What I consider to be polite may be considered 'snooty' by someone else - and, (although I receive bad press for the alleged timbre of my postings), I am being (if not nice) then neutral in my behavior.

Terribly hard to tell in this 'two dimensional no visual clue medium'.

So, unless someone absolutely comes out and states that someone else is a complete "<fill in the blank>" it is tough to know whether they are laughing or scowling as they write it (me personally - I am generally laughing).

Very good point (the whole post is good, but I like this part the best), I think that you are right.

When I saw this response I said to myself this is a young person. Then I checked the profile and see 25. You are product of the society you were raised in, that is a fact.

Why should they act otherwise? Because in polite society you do. I realize, however, that polite society died sometime in the *me 80's*. It does not change my sadness at it's passing. It does make me want to be a hermit tho.

Now, i find this abit rude. So here is my response. Yes, i am unfortunetly the product of the society that you older people created. Its great, i appreicate the fear, the worry, of living in it. i appreciate not being able to walk down the road with out being raped or mugged or murdered. Fabulous world you have here. i absolutely love they way things are. You all did a GREAT job in making sure it was a good place to raise the youth of the nation.

Polite society died when us "young people" had to worry about surviving out there. Polite society died when we lost hope that it's actually a good world to live in. Polite society died when people forgot how to stand up for whats right. Polite society died when everyone looked the other way. Polite society died when fear was brough into the schools. Polite society died when you realise the cops are to fear. (cops? oh yeah the ones who are supposed to protect and uphold the law) Polite society died when the justice system became about money and not justice.

i dont know when it died. i am not particularly a child of the 80's Would you like to know what i was doing in the 80's? i was trying to make sure my mother's life wasnt a complete disapointment, dogding my stepfather as much as i could, hiding out in my room when my mother was away, drowning in depression, and being as responsible as i could. During the 90's i went out and met the world. What a disapointment it was. Just like the 80's were you "older" generation cared more about being polite then giving a damn about us younger generation and forgeting that we will grow up too.

So yes, i am a product of my generation. Survival is a must and "real" people are a treasure.

I'm sorry you took it as a personal attack. It wasn't. Don't blame you for being a product of the world you live in, it just explains your response.

I saw the way the world was going when I was in high school and decided that I did not want to subject any children to the world based on what I was seeing and have not produced any children. I feel very sorry for the children being born into today's world and am a stauch supporter of popluation control and environmental concerns. I do what I can to make the world a better place for children to grow up.
