LaTigresse -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 6:34:28 AM)

Yes, I find the whole "sis" thing rather annoying also. I always think, "as opposed to friends?" But then there are alot of things that annoy me, probably too many to list without being a big whineypants.

BRNaughtyAngel -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 6:35:15 AM)

"Subbie"  [:'(]

Maybe we should start calling Dominants, "Dommies"? [:D]

SexyRed -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 6:41:13 AM)

I agree with so many of these including: subbie (ewww), you must not really be submissive (because I did not suffer your foolish email/IM gladly), all the one liners (Hi, how are you? Hey Red, A/S/L), the ever present, How long in the lifestyle, the always annoying (Relocate?), the silly (Y/y, W/we, talking in the third person, will the girl like to talk) , the existential, Are you real? (yes, I think so, I just pinched myself), the whole I am a Dominate (spare me) and finally, the emails that start off with...How will you serve Me? (cooked over a slow roasted spit).

FangsNfeet -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 7:06:36 AM)

"I have internet subs"

"I've been cyber collared"

I dislike these:

"work with" (as in "I'm working with Master Taserblazer.")
"scene" (as in both "How is the scene in La Jolla?" and "I'm scening with Master Taserblazer.")
"living a fantasy" (as in "She wants to do WHAT?  She's living a fantasy.")
"under my protection (as in "Fiestywench4u69xoxo is now under my protection.")
"damsel" (as in, you know...)
"milord" (same shit)
"milady" (uh huh)
"midear" (I thought that's where infections occur)
"respected in the community" (as in "Master Taserblazer is highly respected in the community.")
"the community" (it doesn't mean anything)
"consentual" (please, children, learn how to fucking spell)

and my least favorite of all:

"safe, sane, consensual" (as in "If you're not playing SSC, then you're just living a fantasy.")

sorry, nothing personal, but learn how to use a dictionary.  both conse(n)sual and consentual are correct.  check it out...

edit for spelling, not enough coffee...

subinside -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 7:28:48 AM)

i dislike it when someone IM's me and calls me girl.  While i understand how that may be their thing, it isn't necessarily mine.  Were one to have looked at my profile (before i became engaged), nowhere would one have found the term "this girl".  Perhaps that might be a hint that i don't readily use that terminology.

Another peeve would be those who expect me to call them Sir right away just because they had graced me with their IM (usually at an inopportune time for me).  i'm sorry, but just because someone says they are dominant/master/grand poobah... doesn't mean i'm automatically going to call them Sir/Master/Lord/blah blah blah.  Generally i would want to get to know the person a LITTLE BIT before i even consider any kind of submitting to them.  Sir/Master etcetera, is a term of respect.  That level of respect isn't automatic, it can't be demanded (well it can, and i can just as easily say sod off), and shouldn't be expected.  *If* i call someone Sir, it means something.  It isn't just an automatic reply that i give to everyone. ~chuckles~ In fact, i think i can count on both hands the number of times i have called my Fiance, Sir.  He knows what He is to me, He doesn't need a title to prove it to Himself.  He has only to search my face if He ever needs reassurance.

LaTigresse -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 7:29:16 AM)

Actually consesual is not a word, you were perhaps going for consensual?

I believe the saying about those that live in glass houses is something to mention here.

FR

One thing that is a slight pet peeve

"Slaves give more than submissives"

As if there is some meter attached to slaves and submissives that measures their givingness.

Or:

"Slaves do not think for themselves and are nothing but doormats"

As if someone can get into the mind of a slave or knows every slave to definitively state this....

happypervert -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 7:39:24 AM)

I get annoyed by those who suggest that submission isn't a gift. My little one is a treasured jewel, and her gift of submission is precious to me.

Anyway, you get the idea. Now I need to go wash my hands after typing that crap.

Demand, shemand. Its nonsense demanding what it is not your right to ask for. IMHO of course..
Yes.  I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth confronting the attitude or just letting the demander (is that like “the decider”?) go off into the trash bin.  I’m not sure how much of what I see is the person and how much is the role they want to play.  Conceit is not a turn-on, but I wonder if it can be a misguided attempt to impress rather than character trait.  Negotiation is an activity between equals, and there is just no way around that.

And call me kinky, but the correct use of the English language is a big turn-on for me.  Even with someone who can write but starts the “Me, Mine, W/we” strange capitalization on purpose, I find it jarring.  Where does that weird custom come from anyway?

And the one-line responses definitely do not inspire trust.

~Fast Reply~

"What, you don't submit to every man? You are not a true submissive!"

"Your dominant is only how old? He is not a man, let me dominate you!"

Lordandmaster -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 7:58:58 AM)

Yeah, it's on dictionary.com, but it's not in OED.  That tells me it's been added to newer dictionaries--to accommodate dumasses who don't know that the word is really supposed to spelled "consensual."

Kinda like the word irregardless

And btw, "consentual" is not on webster's site.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 8:04:30 AM)

Because work is work, and not-work is not-work.  It sounds tremendously strange to me.  When you go to a baseball game with your friend, do you say you're "working with" him or her?  It also conveys the sense that the arrangement is temporary and meaningless.  It's not "I work with So-and-so"; it's "I'm working with So-and-so."  That means, before too long, you'll be "working with" someone else.  I think it must come from business lingo.  "Oh, Jack?  He's working with the Advotech Solutions guys in Bongsville today.  Leave a message for him; he'll be back tomorrow."

I chuckled at some of the other nuggets that people have listed: "I am fully trained," "Submission is a gift," and so on.  "Training collar" is a concept that makes no sense to me, but we've had a few threads about that one, I think.

I understand all of those except "working with."  Why don't you like that one?

darksdesire -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 8:06:37 AM)

OK.  A pet peeve of mine is when others get so stuck on minor grammatical errors that they can't see the person, but only the error. Probably every one of us has made grammatical errors, and I'm pretty sure it's not a very realistic reflection on our value as a person/dominant/submissive.

bandit25 -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 8:10:41 AM)

I don't think people get so stuck on grammatical errors; however I've seen it happen time and time again that someone corrects someone else and, in doing so, makes his/her own error.  Yeah, I like to point that out...if only to myself.

I think my problem is that the only way you have to present yourself here is through the written word (not counting pix here) and I think it behooves each one of us to take some care...if only to make sure that you aren't misunderstood.

With all that said, however, I don't know that anyone judges your worth as a sub/dom, etc. because of a few spelling errors.

edited to add...Please feel free to point out any errors I may have made in this post.
