After googling this topic - it appears that this story is incorrect. According to other news sources such as the Sunday Times, Israel is considering a conventional strike on Iranian nuclear facilities - the facilities that may be involved in making nuclear weapons, to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
I am also sure that Israel has plans to use nuclear weapons if needed, as do the US, France, Great Britian, India, Pakistan, Russia and all other nuclear weapon states.

France? Fire off a bomb? Heh. They would probably run with their tails between their legs and a face full of frog's legs before they ever got involved in a military conflict. I would be surprised if the button was even connected.

It is also my understanding that Russia disarmed a long time ago. I do not believe they have any nuclear weapons left. China does, though, and they are arms partners so maybe China will send them a couple (or already have) in exchange for other weapons. We already know they have been swapping stuff back and forth. Unfortunately, because China knocked out the US spy satellites while they were doing it, they do not know exactly what.

However, do not count on Russia or China to help bomb Iran. India I am not so sure of either. Pakistan would though. Great Britain definitely would, but I was not aware they had nukes. Israel would beg for the opportunity to flatten Iran into a desert wasteland.

It's called an independent deterent but it isn't, we can't fire it without a US OK which has the French laughing their arses off at us. It looks like Blair is going to update Trident with more American stuff rather than creating a truely independent weapon or going in with the French as the French want us to and I would back that option. However, I can only guess the US has some hold of British politicians because British governments don't appear to be able to make decisions purely in teh British interest.

the Ussr still has nuclear weapons! We're just waiting for them to sell them off. Mother Russia does realize that who they sell them to will use them on them as well as us, and china so They probably won't sell. They don't want to loose any edge they have over any other country.

If memory serves there is land beneth the antartic, plus theres a treaty between 12 of the major courtries stating no military pressence. Although heating bill might be high. Lol :-)

There is land, aye. Diplomatically though, it's a bit of a grey area, since nobody really 'owns' it as such. It seems like everyone just agrees to leave it mostly empty save for the occasional research station or training ground.
