quote:
i have engaged in similar discussion before with other oppressed groups. (take Your pick, Ma'am). My answer in each case is that i am not responsible for that oppression. i am sorry if You have suffered from it, and i have not done it in the past and will not do it in the future. I did not blame you specifically for that oppression, phace. It is just how the world revolved at that point in time. quote:
should i be offended if i have been told that my career path would be easier at this point in time if i was black and/or female? You would say, quite correctly, too bad, so sad, get over it. Actually, that is NOT what I would say. I am a firm believer in "best qualified," regardless of gender or race. I have a real problem with quotas, tax breaks and other rewards for hiring practices. It means that we do not have the best qualified teachers or police, amongst other professions, but those being the most important that I can think of on the spur of the moment. quote:
Please, think about the following scenarios, and answer if You desire, or just keep them in mind. If You play chess, what is the strongest piece on the board? What is the weakest? Strongest is Queen, being able to move in any direction she chooses and as many spaces as she chooses, (except diagonal). Weakest is King, only being allowed to move one space in any direction per move. But, you use for example a game here. quote:
In the Bible who was allowed the choices to leave Eden? Who followed? "If you eat from the Tree of Life, you will be banished from the Garden forever." That's not a choice. That's a dictum. Eve, in her curiousity or defiance, chose to eat from the Tree of Life - thus she was banished. Yes, Adam followed, in the eating and thus, in the banishment. I am not sure this is a good example of women in charge. :::laughing::: Of course, this example is also predicated on the idea that you even believe in the Bible. quote:
In Greek Mythology, who opened the door to all possibilities. Who did She ask to close it? I must confess to ignorance on this one; please enlighten me. Although, this is mythology, not reality. quote:
Back to the Bible. Did God require a male to bring Her/His Son to Earth? Again, we're relying on the words from a book that many might consider to be fiction; as well as the fact that we truly are not sure of exact translations. I would rather argue with some definitive examples of female's superiority if we're going to argue it at all. quote:
Women are inherently superior, even in their ability not to flaunt that superiority, and men have resented it, and tried (Your history) to limit Women's control over certain aspects. It is rude and it is petty, but, again, i am not responsible for it. By the way, Happy Mother's Day to all that it applies to. Honestly, I don't believe men resented it or tried to limit our control. I believe they sincerely thought they were "sheltering" us from the nastiness of politics and other "manly" pursuits. If men would behave as they ought, perhaps we could have continued to be sheltered. PS: Phace, this is all for the sake of discussion and your imput has given me even more ideas to support or undermine my theories. I appreciate it.
