My robot slave needs downtime about once every two months or so in order to get her oil changed.

Problem is, I can never find her damned off switch.

Most masters have an insanely hard time training their slaves to admit they NEED to take a break or slow down or ask for help.

Giving it is the easy part.

Not sure why that is.... They don't want to take a break ... You Push hard.. and I mean Hard.... just  don't break'm.....

It's cuz they are control freak perfectionists.  Just gotta break em down and train them.

Not like *I* have that issue or anything...

Hey, life happens, people have illness, injuries and family
emergencies, especially if they have caretaker duties to
parental units or unmentionables.

You learn to adapt to the situation and work with the
subs/slaves that serve you to the best of their abilities.

As a case in point, one of my boys broken his leg right
after we met in a motorcycle accident.  He had a cast,
surgery, another cast, crutches, physical therapy, etc.
The healing process took several months.  While he had
the cast and crutches I was the one opening doors, driving
and helping him with everyday things like shopping and
showering when visiting him.  After the cast and crutches
were gone, he still had a limp so there were ways he
could serve and ways he could not.  He will never be able
to kneel for long periods of time now, so he is put into
other positions.

Life happens, you adapt, that is all part of the process of being.

Ok so as Raven Sir and Loki have pointed out it is the Master who desides how sick a slave is, fine Ill bite, fact of the matter is even if my Master had said "I dont care how sad or down you are get your ass over here and clean my place then take the beating I planed" (ok he would NEVER say that at least I hope) it most likely would not have been in HIS best interest to do so let alone my best interest. The upset and anger that I had been feeling would not have boded well for my driveing let alone me beeing able to scene at all without totaly breaking... Im lucky Master has weesled his way into my head and as he said has gotten beach front property in there, as he knows me very well. The stress of classes starting again coupled with the death in my family only 2 weeks back coupled with some heavy sub drop after last weeks most intence scene has not left me in the best of places and while I may be fine physicaly he knows with me saying I dont feel well that most likely Im not sick as in hacking up a lung but rather sick as in unable to shut off the water works. I dont think I would last very long with a Master that didnt understand my rather fragile emotional state and take that into consideration... no matter how messy their apartment has gotten!!!!

Magik's rather emotional slave

Well I'm not sure how fragile emotional state translates into messy apartment.  In some ways it might be better to be forced to do those everyday mundane things to give you a sense of security, stability, sense of permanence and sense of accomplishment.

Of course it's good to take time for mental health days as much as it is for physical health days, but letting things pile up can actually make mental fragility even worse.

AH yes but in this case cleaning his apartment means about a 40 minut drive for me at 10:30 at night with me needing to be home by 2:30 am that ment cleaning sceneing and trying to have time for aftercare and enough time to drive home (we didnt plan things so well last time and i wound up without aftercare after our most intence scene last week and eneded up with very bad sub drop because off it) And driveing home without after care or time to get out of sub space... not safe.

Unless you are a machination, you may need some sick days.  Sort of kills the slavery fantasy, doesn't it?  Oops, even machines some times require down time and maintenance.

Not just machines but rugs too. Pretty soon they aren't worth walking on if you don't remember to pin them up outdoors and take the beater to them.

And let's not forget the fact that pain tolerance typically drops during illness. Is there a more enjoyable time to take the little broomstick to someone than when she's all fever and chilly, aching and weak, unable to keep food down for days, in and out of the bathroom, behind on her chores and just pleading with those rheumy eyes for you to please find some way that she can make you feel good inside, today?

Clouds do have silver linings.

I have not really been *sick* since Sir and I have been together, but there are times when I am tired, sad or just "blah," and I have to say that Sir is the first person I have been with that truly cares about my health and welfare.  He does things for me *all the time* to make me feel good about myself and wanted and desired and loved.  I couldn't ask for a better man to be with.

Some would say that his devotion to me and what he does makes him less of a "dom," but I think it makes him more of a man than any man I have been with because he truly appreciates what I do for him.  Though I feel a twinge of guilt when he does nice things for me, it's not because I feel I have let him down... but more because I worry that I am not worthy of his attentions.  However, even this feeling is fading with his love and kindness.

I am *sure* that if I needed time for myself or if I was sick, Sir would not hesitate to allow me that time without fear of reprisal or punishment.

With regards to the OP only:

I've never seen a reason to give "sick days".  Then again, I rarely assign a regular schedule.  Just, a slave's sick, you take care of her.. well, unless you're a sadist, and then I suppose it's depedent on the relationship to the degree you ride her into it.  (Not that I would do such a thing, though I'm not going to pass judgement against it if a couple mutually consents to this sort of play.)

I see slaves as.. extentions of one's self?  She does as I tell her to do, in the same way my hand would.  If my hand's broken, I'd put it in a cast and leave it be.  If it's bleeding, I'd banage it and not aggrivate the cut.  If it's numb from the cold, I'd warm it up.  It does as I wish it to, and I have every interest in its well-being.
