Also, many pro's have those rates because they've earned them and they ARE competitive. They have regulars who aren't likely to switch over (while there's lots of floaters always up for grabs, once a person has a connection, they are unlikely to stray). And the long time ones will have lots of references so new people can be assured of security. If you're starting out, lower pricing might help some, but since you would be starting out without a solid client base, it's best just to be competitive. It's a service industry just like any other, just a lot higher risk.
