ORIGINAL: bludemonn The last part of what you said i cannot stress enough, too much of anything really isnt the way forward, St John's wort was used for depression ages ago, nice to see it is still prescribed, i think that is where meds for 'mind' problems eminated from, i do feel herbs have extreme qualitative potential and it would be nice to see a 'comeback' so to speak. The problem with the comeback is the FDA scaring people into thinking herbal supplements are dangerous. And some really can be if not used appropriately. Mine was prescribed by a nationally renowned doctor of Orthomolecular Medicine. He kept close tabs on me and on my diet. Doctors of Chinese Medicine tend to be good sources, also. I strongly advocate seeing a doctor well versed in herbology before taking it upon oneself to treat something with certain herbs. I'll never forget my experiences with Don Quai - that was brutal. Now, as for garlic - I like Emeril's approach. Put in as much as the recipe calls for...and then double it!
