Status: offline 		How about what is done to kids when they backtalk their moms.  You take a piece of paper draw a circle and tape it to the wall they have to stick their tongue out and put it in that circle and stand that way for 30-45 min.  Now you can add other things butt plug, rice under bare feet, a tack under the heels and they have to stand on tiptoes, or can stand in a bucket of ice barefoot. 

didn't know i had any sadist in me.  Of course just the tongue in a circle amd stand for 5 min was all for my kids.  actually i backhanded my son the one and only time he sassed me.  The other son got his butt blistered on the side of the highway.

That's exactly what my owner does...he quirks a brow, and gives me The Look: "What?"
Reading some of these others suggestions, I guess that might seem lenient to some, but believe me.... it works. In spades.
 
I think my owner and I have an advantage in that we have a 3 year vanilla history behind us as well. At this point.. I know damn well when to tease, and when to let him know I'm feeling out-of-sorts, etc. He also can read my non-verbal body-language very well. If I speak out of turn because of some outside factor ( fight with my mom, bad day with the kids, etc), he's more likely to get to the root of the problem then to react with anger.

Respectfully, I think this might be a little over rated. Who knows, this might have been the cause of the outburst to begin with.  I guess since we don't know why the sub was a smart ass, it would take some dialogue to figure out if it was basic lack of respect, or situational. Fit the punishment to the crime, if you can. But a humbling experience is in the making, I am sure. Losing alone time for bathroom priviledges, sure humbled me up real quick. I hated it!

Status: offline 		How about requiring her to sit in a darkened room til you tell her she can move while she wears a blindfold over her eyes.  Even a few minutes in such a situation it would seem to me would seem like an eternity.  You wouldn't have to let her know it was just a few minutes either. Or command her to do some activity she doesn't like to do.  For example if she hates polka music then she has to spend  a certain number of minutes per disrespectful incident (actual time determined by you) listening to nothing but polka music.
