Status: offline 		While perusing the profiles of people who e-mail me I find that alot of profiles only list their vanilla interests, eg.  flea markets, shopping, garage sales, museums.
I was wondering what others thought about this as I thought this was a site to find potential new Dom/mes and subs/slaves.  wouldn't it be better to list your interests that relate to the lifestyle and not have a yahoo personals type profile?
I understand others may only be here for the forums, as am I, but people that are actively seeking don't even do it.

Status: offline 		I listed both when I was looking... but, I wanted to find someone I could get along with on as many levels as possible. The person who ended up finding me, also had both vanilla and BDSM/sexual interests listed.

I disagree with you. By virtue of the fact that I am on this site people know I am kinky. My profile states my lifestyle orientation (submissive). I see no need to reiterate that info in my profile. I have recently conceded to filling out the check list thingy but that's as far as I'll go. I have no interest in discussing my kinks with people I'm not interested in vanilla-wise.

We sort of got into this on another thread, but if you're not compatible with me in a vanilla way, then I don't really care whether we have similiar kinks or Lifestyle preferences.

I'm very adaptable to kink and forms of this lifestyle...I can be what my dominant needs within a few limits. That part of my personality is fluid and dependant upon the needs and desires of my Dom.

My vanilla interests are set in stone and aren't changing, so I give them priority.

Status: offline 		I'm a new guy here, but thought I'd wade in on the subject. From my own personal perspective, I look for a wide spectrum of interests, likes and experience from my partners. While a lot of the site is concerned with sex and sexual activites, I've found that thats only one aspect of a relationship wether it be in the lifestyle or vanilla. A person's body, mind, heart ,spirit and imagination complete the package for me. I want to share all of myself and be involved in  more of my partner's life than just the play room. So, I'm all in favor of letting others know as much as you can about who you are and what you're looking for.

preferences and do not want to post them openly. 
They wait until getting to know someone to talk about fetishes
and sex because they are more private by nature. 
 
Many of the new women get deluged by e-mails and chat requests
and so on, especially if they have a nice pic on their profile.
Listing only their vanilla interests helps them find the guys
whose vanilla interests match theirs.

I agree that vanilla interests are the most important for a lasting relationship, that is what drew me to my Mistress (we are both medical people).  I was trying to understand how people who were searching for a mate expected to have people that were interested in them fully know who they were contacting.  I feel that if you list you limits, and your interests, at least your primary areas of interest you would be better off.
I may be wrong, just my opinion.

Status: offline 		I want someone I am compatible with on many levels, not just kink.  If the kink ever burns out (God forbid!), there needs to be something there to fall back on.  Of course, I am looking for a whole relationship, not just a play partner.  If I'm not attracted to them as a whole human being, then I'm not going to be interested in being kinky with them, either.  Ya can't have one without the other, at least for me.

So, what I do here is list both types of activities and interests, kink and vanilla.

Knowing you are kinky is not necessarily true. La La is vanilla, but she is here.

You are on my line of thought,  why not save the time and list your kinks.  That is the background for this site.  I can see if you are shy about it,  but you are going to have a rough go of it if you are.  Might as well open up about what you like, even if it is the mild stuff like boot worship, and leave the scat play for later.

I can see your point too.  I just like to know about someone I intend to contact or reply to (when they email me).  I guess the females would have a bigger issue of wankers to deal with, but for the sincere males it would be a benefit.

The same argument could be made about posting pics though, don't you agree.  If you post a pic of yourself in leather or latex or some fetish attire, wouldn't that get you more wanker emails?

Well once you've ascertained vanilla compatibility, it's not hard to message and say, "I have x,y,z in common with you but am curious as to our fetish compatibility. May I ask you a few questions about it?" This is what usually works best with me.

As for pics, I do not find they raise my wank factor by all that much. But when I've listed specific fetishes, boy, they're minds go crazy and I get crazy emails!
