Heathen: [hee-thuhn]

1. an unconverted individual of a people that do not acknowledge the God of the Bible; a person who is neither a Jew, Christian, nor Muslim; pagan.
2. an irreligious, uncultured, or uncivilized person.

-adjective

3. of or pertaining to heathens; pagan.
4. irreligious, uncultured, or uncivilized.

Mmmm... yeah. I guess I qualify.

Technically, me too, being a straight-up atheist and materialist. =)

For those wanting to read more about the various Neo-Pagan
and Wiccan groups, I highly suggest the book,

"Drawing Down the Moon: Witches, Druids, Goddess-Worshippers, and Other Pagans in America Today"

by Margot Adler

Thank you for providing additional information on Gardner, fergus.
I was getting too sleepy last night to explain more of the history
behind Wicca. [:D]

That one is a true classic, but with over 30 years since, the pagan community has certainly grown and changed!

There is a newer version, updated in the 1990's I believe.

Then you might be overlooked by the new inquisition, or not.

bearincuffs -> RE: Heathen/pagan roll call (3/1/2007 5:10:07 PM)

Unless she's part of the new inquisition  lol

juliaoceania -> RE: Heathen/pagan roll call (3/1/2007 5:10:09 PM)

I am more Pagan than Heathen, but hey, who is counting?

fergus -> RE: Heathen/pagan roll call (3/1/2007 5:13:54 PM)

Eh, why should I about an inquisition?  They were basically after converting Jews and Heretics.

Now, if you start some witch trials, let me know.

But is the new inquisition going to be like the one in Mel Brookes History of the World part 1?

BlueEyedAryan -> RE: Heathen/pagan roll call (3/1/2007 5:20:19 PM)

The day will come when Christians will once again rule with sermon and sword .

bearincuffs -> RE: Heathen/pagan roll call (3/1/2007 5:24:33 PM)

But if that happens, won't the Templar Order have to be resurrected?

FukinTroll -> RE: Heathen/pagan roll call (3/1/2007 5:25:33 PM)

Brilliant first post.

windchymes -> RE: Heathen/pagan roll call (3/1/2007 5:28:08 PM)

I'm heathen....on a jet plane....

fergus -> RE: Heathen/pagan roll call (3/1/2007 5:28:23 PM)

Nah, the templars were heretics too ;) long before the inquisition.  S'why friday the 13th is still unlucky :)

Well, the Christians STILL rule, and by the sermon right now.  If they turn to the sword, I reckon I'd have to turn to the assualt rifle ;)

lol, but they have much better organization than pagans, so I reckon the result would be the same as it was 1500 years ago (more or less).

Vendaval -> RE: Heathen/pagan roll call (3/1/2007 5:33:06 PM)

The unlucky reputation of the number 13 is also connected
to astronomy, there being roughly 13 lunar cycles for 1 solar
cycle.  The moon being associated with Hecate and other
Witch Goddesses, mystery and death all factors into the
symbolism.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: Heathen/pagan roll call (3/1/2007 5:34:30 PM)

hmmm that gives me thought - what if the Crusades happened now instead of then - who would control the Holy Land?

FukinTroll -> RE: Heathen/pagan roll call (3/1/2007 5:35:40 PM)

Me!

fergus -> RE: Heathen/pagan roll call (3/1/2007 5:36:29 PM)

Has a lot of possible connotations, Jesus +12 apostles, crucified on a friday, 13 lunar months being displanted by the 12 month solar calandar (though, no explaination for friday)

and the templars being rounded up for trial and execution on Friday the 13th I THINk the year was 1311, but someone will correct me :)
