"It is two words combined to elicit an emotional response."  Patrick Swayze, Roadhouse.

I use most of these, and other words, so much to desensitize students to them that now I find most of what people would call foul language to be rather boring.  A person who talks in epithets and filth makes me dubious about their education level and literacy.

At this point, I do not tie my emotional state up in what somebody else chooses to say.  On the other hand, I refrain from using words and phrases which are upsetting to other people.

It is called manners and courtesy.

Sinergy

p.s.  I had a great conversation down on the docks a few weeks ago with two black longshoremen, one of whom is a writer for a popular show about black culture, who elucidated some of the issues regarding the n-word.  I am not necessarily agreeing with their objection to it, but I do understand I was not born and raised under the same sort of preconceptions they were.

This is not a word I would ever use to describe anybody.

i am wondering what all of you think is the most degrading word that has ever come out of someones mouth? what is your reaction to that word?

The word i think is the most degrading is Cunt..everytime someone has called me that or even said it I wanted to put them through the wall...

*thinks quietly* In the words of Hamlet: "Words, words, words."
I freakin' love Halmet, great play. Very good standards to live by. But words are words are words. As the good prince of Denmark said. There have been instances in which a foul word was used by a close family member, that later when used by a lover would be erotic.

I agree with juliaoceania in the sense that it is the intent, not the word itself.

Hell I could turn something like spoon into a mean word if I used it enough in the right context. Yes, people would be bloody confused but hey it'll be okay.

After all, they're just words.

You know, I had a long day today, and Im trying to come down off the adrenalin.

According to the students I called bitch, slut, cunt, whore, freak, douche, etc., today, it was not the name calling.  It was that while I had them pinned to the floor calling them these things I was creepily playing with their hair and trailing my fingers like snail trails across their faces.

I have a really weird job.

What exactly DO you do?! I don't want an address or anything, but you've peaked my curiousity. Have a nice evening. Hope your high goes away.

The job that I do as more of a calling than anything else, is that I am a mock assailant for full-contact women's self defense.

What I am doing when I am draping my verbal and tactile filth on them is desensitizing them from this so they can keep their wits about them if somebody ever assaults them.  The part of the brain we are teaching is not really accessible from the cognitive portion, and does not know a mock assault from a real one.

Imprinting success in a woman's psyche is life affirming.

Sinergy

p.s. the high will go away.  Tomorrow will be probably be miserable as I will have a post-adrenalin hangover.

the most degrading word ever used on myself was simply  "Swallow!" ....  in  the context of the situation, that one commanding word defined everything that i stood for and became at HER whim and command in that day and time of my life.

Thanks for the correction. Your job actually sounds rather draining...

For me it was the one time my mother called me a slut when I was 18 and she believed I'd lost my virginity to a man I'd met from online who lived in Idaho. The scorn and pain that she used in that word took a long time to heal from and is probably part of why I take such pride in using it for myself now.

i used to see my step dad call my mom a cunt a lot and that word was off limits to me for a long time. When i met D i learned that words are silly, and i should not let them affect me. He calls me a cunt [or COW - cunt on wheels] frequently and it does not bother me like it used to, i can ID w/ LA's sentiments on how/why it doesnt bother me anymore....

dating a jewish Master: i have been called a shiksa and it really makes me feel great pain and guilt about "being a gentile" and "diluting His race" [if i am to be so lucky.

as a child: welfare baby, white trash, anything synonymous to being the poorest kid in town

sambamanslilgirl - what do you think about the N-word being illegal in NY?

Ya know, I suppose I'm much the same as most of the folks here with regard to being called names; it's the intent that hurts.

But, I have another question.  Why is it some guys get SUCH a kick outta hearing 'nasty' words from my mouth?  Damn, I'm not to say pussy, but must say cunt; never penis, but cock.  Etc, etc, etc.

What's up with that?  And yes, I do choke a bit when called 'My bitch' or 'My slut'...  I don't understand why some folks consider such language so hot.  But, perhaps I'm the odd-one-out here... or the oldest!  LOL

Sinergy, you are one of the most interesting people on this site.  I applaud your work...and cannot imagine the trust that must be in place for the women to work with you.  WOW... good job!

Thank you for saying that LadyAnnabelleLee.

I had a miserable day.

But what I do is so profoundly rewarding that I would do it again.

My roommate and I visited Ireland for two weeks several years ago.  Before the trip we both had issues with the word "cunt"...of course, we were young then and still thought anal was a definite no, so you know some time has passed.  At any rate, two wonderful weeks in Ireland cured us!  Spent a couple of nights drinking in Bunratty and all we heard was "that f-in cunt." The term was used to describe or denote everything from a fine horse to a troublesome airplane.  We used "that f-in cunt" for about a month or more after we got home....in traffic, waiting in lines, we couldn't use it enough.  Thankfully, it wore off, but I no longer cringe when I hear it ~ I just smile at a fond memory.  We also got some great pottery and liquor, too. (Just so no one thinks we only brought back potty mouths.)

After exploring my kink, I learned what others here have stated:  the intent makes a difference.  I do remember the first time my schoolmate stated matter-of-factly (right at the bus stop! egad) that I must be a bastard since my family sported three different last names in residence.  I was truly devastated when they went on to say my brother must not be my REAL brother, so I explained that we only used different last names to sort the mail faster (it was one of my quick moments).  I was so young I had to ask what bastard really meant because I thought it was just my mom's nickname for my stepfather, That Bastard.

But words can be very powerful so I always try to find something positive to say to a young person.  I heard "stupid" a lot as a child and I simply do not believe it should ever be applied to children ~ even when a person is  angry and/or scared and weird stuff comes flying out of their mouth. (Because we'll remember and blame all sorts of crap on you when we talk to our therapist, then the therapist will go on some talk show and before you know it, there's your life snipped and squeezed down to all the ugly stuff and sandwiched between commercials for feminine hygiene products and orgasmic shampoo.  Just saying.  It could happen.)

Thank you, Bearlee.

I appreciate your words, but I am emotionally rather messed up from yesterday's classes.
